As technology and medicine flourish in 21st century America through science, so does fear and opposition. This fear and opposition stems from the lack of an individuals understanding or education in the scientific field; simply called “Scientific Illiteracy”. Pressing issues involved with scientific illiteracy include vaccination, climate change, and evolution. Purpose: To increase enrollment and attendance for mandatory and non-mandatory clinical education and to improve nursing satisfaction with clinical education.

Design: This was a staff education development project.

Setting: This project was conducted at a multi-campus, state-wide health system with facilities ranging from urban level 1 trauma centers to a small, 50-bed community hospital.

Participants/Subjects: All emergency department (ED) nurses from the system were invited to participate in this project.

Purpose: Emergency departments use Emergency Severity Index (ESI) in triage to prioritize at-risk patients and predict resource utilization. We observed that ESIs in our department varied greatly depending on triage nurse personality, initial triage training, and experience. We identified an opportunity to lower variability of ESIs through education with real life case studies to achieve better prioritization, patient safety, and staff utilization.

Emergency Department staff must possess the complex knowledge and skills necessary to competently care for critically injured patients. Providing meaningful and ongoing educational opportunities to assist nurses and EMTs with maintaining trauma competency is challenging. Passive education via lecture doesn't meet the needs of most adult learners who instead seek active learning experiences. Over the past few decades, modifications and laws have been put in place that has affected the Minnesota funding formula. The purpose of the study was to do a statistical analysis of the general education revenue trend data in regard to the fiscal equity and wealth neutrality. In the state of Illinois, any person in possession of sexually explicit photos of a minor, even if the subject is oneself, can be prosecuted as a felon for possession of child pornography and be required to registered as a sex-offender (705 ILCS § 405). Concurrently, the recent trend of ‘send nudes’ depicts humorous ways to request the transmission of sexually explicit photos, increasing this act as a normative practice for young people (Bradford, 2018; Thomas, 2017). This trend is incongruent with Illinois statue (705 ILCS § 405) and school administrative policy about transmitting sexually explicit photos of a minor. …
