The amount of light needed to produce the most efficient work is still subject to controversy. An adequate amount is recommended by everyone, but the definition of adequate varies as is evidenced in the amount of foot-candles suggested. But the emphasis now has shifted from "how much light should we have" to "how well can we see." Quantity and quality may now be regarded as the twin requirements for good lighting. The bibliography, consisting of classified abstracts with index, was compiled especially with the needs of educators of The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod in mind. It should be suggestive for future research studies in religious education and should serve to prevent duplication of effort as well as to suggest areas of study not previously covered or covered inadequately.

The purpose of this study is to ascertain the incidence of pupil failure and non-promotion of a group of elementary school children. This can be determined by (1) finding the number and percentage of pupils who failed at some point from First Grade through Fifth Grade, and who now are enrolled in the Sixth Grade of the elementary schools of Yakima, Washington, (2) finding the annual rate of failure of this group of children, (3) determining the number of pupil failures the occurred, including a record of failing pupils who failed once, twice, or three or more times, and (4) …

The purpose of this study was to secure a comprehensive picture of vocational industrial training facilities available for Negroes in the State of Louisiana.
