Values And Art Education, Rob Prout Jan 1975

Values And Art Education, Rob Prout

All Graduate Projects

The following series of four articles represents some of my current concerns in art education. The articles are a result of explorations in contemporary writings by people from various fields of endeavor and a condensation and evaluation of the input from these several sources. The first three articles are a progression from current rationale in art education, to the importance of art in formulating values relative to our environment, to a discussion of the use of the t'elevision medium in art education. The fourth article is in the form of a T.V. workbook that might be used in art (or …

Survey Of Second And Third Class School District Administrator Evaluation In Washington State, Mack Douglass Armstrong Jan 1975

Survey Of Second And Third Class School District Administrator Evaluation In Washington State, Mack Douglass Armstrong

All Graduate Projects

In October 1974, a pilot survey was conducted at the state convention of the Washington Association of Secondary School Principals in Spokane, Washington. The concern of the pilot survey was to indicate the general compliance for school administrators with RCW 28A.67.065. The results indicated that 75 percent of the districts surveyed evaluate their principals while only 41 percent indicated an evaluation of the superintendent. Were these percentages to hold true and accurate, eighty districts in the state would not be evaluating their principals and 188 superintendents would not be evaluated. Fifty-nine percent of the school districts then would be failing …

Kentucky Law Survey: Education, Carolyn S. Bratt Jan 1975

Kentucky Law Survey: Education, Carolyn S. Bratt

Law Faculty Scholarly Articles

This article provides a survey of Kentucky case law on the topic of education. During the past survey year, the Kentucky Court of Appeals decided several cases in which public education was the common denominator. Developments occurred in the areas of student discipline, merger of first class city-county school districts, and due process requirements for removal of tenured teachers. The most significant case, however, was Dorr v. Fitzer, which involved the authority of a county board of education to reject, without cause, a school superintendent's recommendation that a teacher with four consecutive limited service contracts be granted a continuing …

The inclusive dates for a particular series may vary and, for most series, the records are incomplete. The collection contains all the records normally created by an organization, including constitutions, correspondence, minutes, …

The Practicum: Present And Future : Report On The National Conference On Teacher Education, Perth, Western Australia, 18-22 August 1975, Mount Lawley College Of Advanced Education Jan 1975

The Practicum: Present And Future : Report On The National Conference On Teacher Education, Perth, Western Australia, 18-22 August 1975, Mount Lawley College Of Advanced Education

Research outputs pre 2011

In Western Australia concern had been expressed among those involved in the professional preparation of teachers that there was a tendency to de-emphasize the practical components of courses in favour of the more theoretical academic disciplines.

There was a view expressed, perhaps rather parachially, that Western Australia, disadvantaged by distance for on-going communication between institutions, also appeared to be used very sparingly as a venue for conferences on education.

With this in mind College staff, early in 1974, decided to explore the possibility of mounting a national conference in Perth with the practicum of teacher education as its theme. A …

(1975) Nietzsche’S View Of Sublimation In The Educational Process, Ann Margaret Sharp Jan 1975

(1975) Nietzsche’S View Of Sublimation In The Educational Process, Ann Margaret Sharp

Collected Papers of Ann Margaret Sharp

Against the prevailing "return to nature" educational philosophy of his day, Nietzsche stressed sublimation, the active redirecting of one's life energy or the channeling of one's power in the service of creativity, and the inevitability of suffering as essential in the attainment of freedom. The current educational practice which mitigates the importance of sublimation and suffering were, in his view, a subversive tactic of the German State to keep the reins on individual autonomy and creativity and insure conformity to the status quo.

A Study To Establish Appropriate Policies And Job Descriptions For Classified Employees In The Ralston Public School District, Harry Weichel Jan 1975

A Study To Establish Appropriate Policies And Job Descriptions For Classified Employees In The Ralston Public School District, Harry Weichel

Student Work

Information on policies, procedures, and regulations is recognized as essential for the operation of a school district. Thought many school districts have developed manuals carefully prepared for the general operation of a school district, little has been done in the area of written specific policies for classified employees in a school district. When a school district has written clear cut policy statements, individuals who are affected by them will be able to have a specific problem answered that was based on a good set of recorded policies and regulations and not on a momentary decision.

A Multimodal Remedial Program For Teaching Skills Of Written Expression To Intermediate Grade Students., Alma Alene Mcdonald

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

The major purpose of the study was to investigate whether intermediate grade students who do unsatisfactory written assignments can learn to be more successful in written work as a result of a program which teaches the skills of written expression.
