Classroom Music Continuum For The Vallecito Union School District, Kindergarten Through Sixth Grade, Deborah Glow Martin

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

It is generally recognized and accepted that music is a vital part of a child's education. The Music Educators National Conference stated in "The Child's Bill of Rights in Music":

Every child has the right to full and free opportunity to explore and develop his capacities in the field of music in such ways as may bring him happiness and a sense of well-being.

It is impossible to deal with all aspects of elementary music education in a single presentation; consequently, this thesis is directed toward a specific need in a particular school district, namely the Vallecito Union School District. …

Each household finds its robot so annoying that the cousins all run away from home and form a successful community together, eventually joined by a wiser Jasper and a chastened Julian. Though zany and wildly farcical, this story is also serious and thought-provoking – about the problem of minds and machines, the possibilities of free will, the nature of …

The Danish Dip, Edna H. Hong Jan 1982

The Danish Dip, Edna H. Hong

The Bridge

My first reaction to our son's Danish school teacher was one of dismay, for I was still under the dismal domination of the American veneration of youthiness. Somehow the keen, kind blue eyes and the lean, lithe body of the grey-haired gentleman who rose at his elevated desk to greet me when I entered the school room, accompanied by my wretched, reluctant, rebellious, ready-to-bolt nine year old, did not tranquilize the depressing discovery that the teacher Theodore was to have his first year in a foreign school was an old man - at least sixty!

Teams, Games, Tournament–A Classroom Management System: A Study Of Its Impact On Socialization And Academic Performance In A Multicultural Environment, Ronald J. Diimig

Student Work

The national goal of American public education is universal education. Therefore "no individual or group, for any reason whatsoever, is to be barred from equal access to standard opportunities." Since 1934 and Brown vs. Board of Education, the United States Supreme Court has declared that this national goal can only be and must pursued in desegregated schools.

The Effectiveness Of Individualized Instruction In A Learning Center, To Eliminate Ninth Grade Reading Deficiencies, Mitchel P. Dorsey Dec 1981

The Effectiveness Of Individualized Instruction In A Learning Center, To Eliminate Ninth Grade Reading Deficiencies, Mitchel P. Dorsey

Student Work

The United States counts as one of its major achievements, that of being the first country in the world to attempt to give education beyond the three R's to all its youth, regardless of intellectual endowment or socioeconomic status. Investigation of this premise reveals a gap between practice and pretensions. This is evidenced by the fact that in recent years, colleges, universities, businesses, vocational institutions, and industry have been highly critical of the large number of high school graduates with deficiencies in basic learning skills. These deficiencies impede academic, job related and/or job performance. Such an indictment of the secondary …
