Concept And Scope Of Aerospace Education, Merridee L. Matson
All Graduate Projects
A teacher's guide, answering frequently asked questions about aerospace education, was developed to enhance a teacher's ability to study and describe the concept and scope of aerospace education. The questions determined the components of an aerospace education taxonomy. A major category of components included history, concept, reasons, resources·, methods, and people. Five additional categories were suggested. Major aerospace education publications from 1903 to 1983 were reviewed. A selection of documents best describing the concept component were included in the project.

Resource Allocation In Public Education: A Thirty Five Year Historical Study Of Public School Budgets In Clark County, Nevada, William Allan Fisher
UNLV Retrospective Theses & Dissertations
This historical study analyzed thirty five years of public school expenditures for evidence of change in spending patterns to discover whether or not the organizational structure of the schools has been allowed to drift from public expectations; Budget expenditures from year to year were reclassified by the USED codes in Handbook II. This rigorous classification and the LOTUS 123 spread sheet enabled the researcher to hold all data constant; The study demonstrated that school boards' objectives had not changed between 1950 and 1985. Nevertheless, seven fundamental changes occurred in the operation of the schools and that all noninstructional school programs …

The Effectiveness Of Video Technology In Safety Training At An Industrial Site., Robert Steven Miller
The Effectiveness Of Video Technology In Safety Training At An Industrial Site., Robert Steven Miller
LSU Historical Dissertations and Theses
Industry has long held to the belief that accidents are caused and they can be prevented. To support this belief, industry in the United States has allocated vast resources for accident prevention. The rationale for this allocation of resources rests on the concern for employees' well-being, federal and state regulations, and the profit incentive. In order to test the most feasible and effective program to generate safety awareness and teach specific safety skills, a system of daily reinforcement using an in-plant cable tablevision capability was conceptualized, designed, implemented and tested. This study presents the findings for the Safety Minutes program …

The results indicated that subjects reported lower RPEs when performing with another, particularly at the moderate (50%) intensity. In Experiment 2, subjects performed one 15 min trial at 50% of VO(,2) max, both alone and in the presence of another performer (coactor) exhibiting nonverbal "cues" that the work was either extremely …

Lay Leader Participation In Extension Work In The Philippines., Blanda Relente Sumayao
LSU Historical Dissertations and Theses
The need for research on people participation in development, particularly by extension lay leaders, is especially important in the Philippines where, paradoxically manpower in agricultural extension is limited but abundant in the rural areas. This study, therefore, was conducted to analyze empirically the participation of lay leaders (LLs) in the local agricultural extension programs in two Philippine provinces. Basic data were developed by personal interview of 107 LLs and 79 extension agents (EAs) in these provinces. Participation of LLs was primarily in program implementation, quite minimal in planning and evaluation. In implementation, participation by the majority of the LLs was …

The heart of the criticism of the existing educational system is the feeling that public schools no longer meet the needs of society, educational bureaucracies account to no one, parents have little say or choice in the educational options for their children, there is little diversity in public schools, and the public school establishment has resisted any attempts at reform or distributing data that could be used to challenge the present system.
