The Voice: 1991-2000
The first page of this edition of the Wooster Voice focuses largely on the new parking regulations implemented by the administration. This includes a $15 parking ticket for vehicles registered with the college, and $25 for unregistered vehicles. The Viewpoints section of the week are once more focused on student opinions of the war and everything surrounding the discussion of the war. Later on in the issue, there are some articles about the various athletic events on campus. Finally, the issue ends with advertisements.

Student Work
The gross percentage of Guaranteed Student Loan defaults, in 1986, was more than 20 per cant at 2,190 of the institutions participating in the Guaranteed Student Loan program. These 2,190 institutions represent more than 30 per cent of institutions participating in the program. These 2,190 institutions enrolled some 30 per cent of Guaranteed Student Loan borrowers, and these borrowers accounted for some 57 per cent of the total amount of money in default [Wilms, 1987]. Research studies have tried to offer characteristics of students who have a higher default rate on their Guaranteed Student Loans.

Widows, Education And Social Change In Twentieth Century Banaras, Nita Kumar
Widows, Education And Social Change In Twentieth Century Banaras, Nita Kumar
CMC Faculty Publications and Research
In the first half of this century, some one dozen women in Banaras played key rotes in channelling the educational movement into new directions, expanding its agenda to include girls, especially poor girls. These women stand out as pioneering in that they founded schools, dynamic in the way they administered and expanded them, and radical in the vision they had for their students. What makes the case of these women particularly interesting is that they were mostly widows. They rejected the familiar stereotypes for widows through their activism, but in subtle ways that retained for them the respect of society …

Age-Associated Changes In The Kinetics Of Ventilation And Pulmonary Gas Exchange, Mark Anthony Babcock
Age-Associated Changes In The Kinetics Of Ventilation And Pulmonary Gas Exchange, Mark Anthony Babcock
Digitized Theses
The purpose of these studies was to examine ageing effects on the dynamics of pulmonary gas exchange and ventilation during the transition from light to moderate work. In the first study maximal oxygen uptake (VO{dollar}\sb2{dollar}max), ventilation threshold (VeT), the time constant for VO{dollar}\sb2{dollar} ({dollar}\tau\sp\prime{dollar}VO{dollar}\sb2{dollar}), and efficiency were determined from a ramp forcing test in eighty-three males aged 30 to 84y. The results showed a decline in VO{dollar}\sb2{dollar}max with age of {dollar}-{dollar}0.037 1{dollar}\cdot{dollar}min{dollar}\sp{lcub}-1{rcub}{dollar} per year. The VeT also declined with age but at one-third the rate of loss of the VO{dollar}\sb2{dollar}max. The {dollar}\tau\sp\prime{dollar}VO{dollar}\sb2{dollar} increased with age; the older group (60+y) had …
The Successful High School Learner In Profile: A General Model Of Scholastic And Psychological Characteristics, Michael John Barnes
The Successful High School Learner In Profile: A General Model Of Scholastic And Psychological Characteristics, Michael John Barnes
Digitized Theses
Criticisms of secondary schooling invariably highlight four unresolved issues; weaknesses and deficits in graduates' proficiency, subject area failure rates, disorder in the classroom, and dropout rates. These issues persist despite the efforts of educators, periodic reforms imposed by governments, and a seeming abundance of school learning and achievement research. However, this research primarily concerns either pre- or post-secondary schooling. The limited secondary school research mainly has focused only on particular subject areas and, moreover, has considered relatively few of all the potentially relevant variables. Yet the issues clearly implicate the student as a functional entity of biological, cognitive, and affective …

The researcher was the teacher for all the kindergarten students in the study and read the same stories …

A handbook aiding the implementation and development of a peer coaching program is provided.
A Study Of The Effects On Dropout Migrant Students, Relative As To How It Affects Their Lives, Frances D. Macias
A Study Of The Effects On Dropout Migrant Students, Relative As To How It Affects Their Lives, Frances D. Macias
All Graduate Projects
A survey was conducted of 15 migrant students and their parents. Students and their parents were interviewed with a list of questions. These students attended two secondary and two senior high schools in Yakima, Washington. It was determined that because of continued migration of families, students get behind in their studies and therefore lose interest because of the frustration and low self-esteem these students feel. Families still migrate from Yakima, Washington, to other states in search of seasonal work, farm labor is still a way of life for migrant families from schools in the Yakima School District. It's sad to …
Cedar River Mini-School, Judy Anne Rene
Cedar River Mini-School, Judy Anne Rene
All Graduate Projects
A mini-school was set up in Cedar River Elementary School in Maple Valley, Washington. The mini-school will keep the same students and teachers together for a three-year period of time. There will be a fourth, fifth, and sixth grade classroom, each with its own teacher. Research suggests that students in small schools perceive a closer, warmer relationship with their teachers, fellow students and other adults and a stronger connection with the school. This project presents a justification for and a description of the mini-school. The only conclusions reached come from the development of the mini-school, not in an evaluation of …
