Spouses of cardiac rehabilitation (CR) patients can experience overwhelming distress during their partner's recovery, yet interventions to ease this distress are limited. While spouses have the ability to help influence their partner's recovery, little assistance or counseling has been offered to the spouses. Oncology and inpatient cardiology units have found educational packets helpful in reducing spousal distress. Therefore, an evidence-based interventional project to determine if education could ease distress among the spouses of patients who have received a coronary artery stent and enrolled in outpatient CR took place at a Midwestern hospital. Incorrect surgical counts and retained surgical items are preventable errors that compromise patient safety. The literature suggests that surgical counts may be affected by multiple variables. This capstone project sought to exclusively explore the influence of education on incorrect surgical counts in the operating room. Thirteen surgical staff members at a Midwest regional hospital participated in this project. Every staff member possessed previous knowledge and experience with how counts were performed and have executed this task with great frequency. E-cigarette use and vaping has increased dramatically in the U.S. since 2011 among high school students and is a serious public health concern. Nicotine is an addictive substance and nicotine may harm teen brain development. Improve adherence to care by providing patient teaching for women diagnosed with GDM in the clinic setting.

Summary: Participants were enrolled once diagnosed with GDM, consent was obtained. The Diabetes Knowledge Survey for Gestational Diabetes was administered. Ongoing education was provided every 1-2 weeks in the clinic setting. Effectiveness of education was assessed using a post-test at 39 weeks' gestation with a goal of achieving a 20-point increase. Analyzing consciousness and the self through The Five Contexts framework reveals assumptions at the heart of research and education that often go unquestioned. Introduction: This pilot case study paper demonstrates how school programming can be aligned and enhanced to better create a climate of peace on an elementary school campus by utilizing an integral peace leadership lens. INTRODUCTION: We examined the perceptions of the Master of Public Health (MPH) degree graduates regarding their personal competencies, job performance and professional development using a mixed method, explanatory sequential design.

METHODS: A cross-sectional, self-administered questionnaire of the Haifa School of Public Health alumni who graduated between 2005 and 2022 was disseminated to 849 graduates between March and June 2022, from which 127 responded (response rate: 14.90%). This was followed by 24 in-depth interviews with alumni from the same sample (conducted between November 2022 and March 2023).

Introduction: Many uninsured adults rely on free health clinics for prevention and treatment of chronic disease. Little is known about the nutrition education needs of adults served by free health clinics, especially those living in counties within the Western North Carolina Appalachian Mountain Region.

Methods: An in-person survey was distributed to 202 clients of two free health clinics in western North Carolina. Descriptive analyses were conducted to determine frequency distributions for food and physical activity practices, acceptable topics and strategies for nutrition education, and the acceptance and barriers for various modalities.

The purpose of this research study was to educate adolescents on type 2 diabetes and to increase awareness about this disease. The Health Promotion Model developed by Nola Pender was used as the theoretical framework for this study. A quasi-experimental before-after design was used. The seventh and eighth-grade students enrolled in physical education classes at a local school were recruited. Of the 57 students recruited, 47 completed the study. Affective political polarization, or a sense of political identity-based animosity or distrust, became especially heightened during the Trump presidency. However, we know little about how youth experience such polarization in school and its effect on their political socialization. With unusual access to high-status independent schools, this paper explores the characteristics, consequences, and evolution of affective polarization for adolescents during high school. We draw on open-ended responses to school climate surveys administered at nine schools, 2018-2019, in which many students described experiences of political polarization and partisan hostility present in their schools. This article investigates the roles of the terms agreement and disagreement in teachers’ talk in Norwegian Grades 1-4 classrooms. Through an exploration of what teachers said and did when they used these terms, five different themes were identified in the teachers’ talk. The teachers tended to use the terms in relation to the process of discussion, the outcome of these discussions, and nuancing the idea of the nature of this outcome; as a function in conversation; and how agreement and disagreement are valuable in different ways. We focus on how democratic practices occur during the modeling activity “The Candy Bag of Dreams.” With democratic practices, we refer to approaches supporting inclusivity and active participation aimed at empowering students. We investigated one group of preservice teachers implementing an optimizing modeling activity during practicum in two fifth-grade classes, where students modeled their dream candy bags. Students engaged in mathematical modeling where mathematics was embedded in their social context, and they negotiated meanings and developed perspectives. Through this, they experienced lived democracy by actively engaging in and through democratic practices.

In this essay, we consider how reconstructing our ideas about the nature of democracy, and its relationship to education, can help us respond to contemporary challenges. We focus specifically on the ongoing fights about critical race theory (CRT), providing an overview of the CRT controversy—we argue that its cultivation for political reasons has often lessened the possibility of democratic discussions of race, racism, and ongoing white supremacy.
