Toward A Lutheran Philosophy Of Education, Paul Bretscher

Concordia Theological Monthly

Every committee of Synod which was charged with the task to examine and, by helpful suggestions, to improve our program of higher education has, with varying degrees of comprehensiveness, articulated our philosophy of education. Especially is this true of the work done by Synod's recent "Curriculum Committees," which laid down guiding objectives of education in their reports on our junior colleges, theological seminaries, and teachers colleges, and called attention to the peculiar place of our system of higher education in the …

The Evolution Of Ethical Codes In The Teaching Profession In The United States, Daniel Frederick Klemm

Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice

This investigation includes not only the development of the codes of ethics adopted by the state teachers’ associations, but the codes which have been adopted by local associations of teachers as well . The impetus gained from the formulation and adoption of local codes of ethics and their enforcement carried the movement onward and finally resulted in the adoption of similar codes by state teachers’ associations for state-wide application. Examples of local codes are Batavia, Illinois; Boise, Idaho; and Sedalia, Missouri. Parenthetically it may be said, however, that, since the advent of the state codes as well as the national …

Outline For Sermon On Chrisitan Education, Paul Koenig Sep 1937

Outline For Sermon On Chrisitan Education, Paul Koenig

Concordia Theological Monthly

"Is the young man safe?" That was the anxious Iinquiry of a worried father. Is the young man or woman safe? Are the children safe? This should be the anxious question of the Church. "Whether or not they are safe, what will become of them later in life, depends to a very great extent on what we do for them during their childhood days, upon the training we give them.” Much emphasis is laid in our country on education. One out of every four persons is said to be enrolled in quest of some form of education.
