Education And Living: Volume 1, Ralph Borsodi
Education And Living: Volume 1, Ralph Borsodi
School of Living Documents
In Education and Living, a two-volume work, Borsodi elaborated the model of the School of Living. Most of volume one consists of a critique of “mis-education.” Most of that critique focuses on the problems of centralization; centralization of industry, the economy, politics and education. The second volume of Education and Living explains Borsodi’s vision of achieving decentralization in detail. The second volume is in two parts: Right-Education and Re-Education. It explains how to educate for the “Normal” human being and for achieving the “Normal” way of living. This is not the “normal” of the bell curve, the average of a …

Geetalt Psychology teaches us the importance of dealing with wholes and this theory applied to education produces the modern theory of developing the whole child up to his inherent abilities. The Carnegie Institute claims, following research, that only 15% of those who lose their jobs do so because of lack of skill to perform the specific task that is allotted to them to do. In a follow-up to an article about the petition to instate food rationing, this weeks issue of the newspaper features a large article about the newly voted upon Food Conservation Program at the college. It is, of course, an argument for teaching; however, it is not based on the assumption that all who read will promptly decide to become teachers. It frankly attempts to highlight the important personal qualities needed m teaching and to assist you to decide whether teaching is the right occupation for you. Here are the important fundamental questions: Is teaching interesting? What positions are open? Am I suited for teaching? How do I prepare …

History And Educational Philosophy Of Seventh-Day Adventist Secondary Schools, Carl William Shafer
History And Educational Philosophy Of Seventh-Day Adventist Secondary Schools, Carl William Shafer
Master's Theses
In introducing this subject, History and Educational Philosophy of Seventh-day Adventist Secondary Schools, it is important first that the need and purpose of Christian education be stated. If there is no real need or no real purpose, then Seventh-day Adventists have no right to sacrifice their means and energies in the establishing and maintaining of these secondary schools the world over.
Seventh-day Adventists have believed, from the beginning of their movement, that Christian education is the only answer to the education of the full man. All great educators agree that if education does what it should do, it develops the …

A Review Of Moehlman's "School And Church: The American Way.", O. C. Rupprecht
Concordia Theological Monthly
Which is ''the American way" for the religious training of American children? According to Dr. C.H. Moehlman, Professor of the History of Christianity at the Colgate-Rochester Divinity School, the American way is a different one from that pursued in Christian parochial schools. It is different, too, from the plan of "various religious groups" who "are conducting a vigorous propaganda for the return of the formal teaching of religion to the public classroom" (p. ix). The American way is to let public schools (in preference to parochial schools) and churches exist side by side, and to encourage them in at least …

A Manual For Summer Bible School--An Experiment In Christian Education, Allan Hart Jahsmann
Bachelor of Divinity
The need and the demand for new materials, new approaches, and new techniques in Christian education has been growing with the increasingly renewed recognition of the importance of the individual and the psychological approach to him. The parochial school teachers have been leading the chorus of voices for more directed mediums of religious instruction, and rightly so.

Were we asked: How did modern education arrive at its present status? we would reply that the answer to this query is not difficult to give, at least it is not difficult to register pertinent observations.
