A Model To Elicit Optimum Internal Communications In Unified School Districts, Harry C. Weinberg

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

This study provides information about successful communication techniques and presents a viable model that should have positive practical implications for unified school …

A Design For Advanced Preparation Of Educational Researchers. (Volumes I And Ii), Fon R. Belcher

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Statement of the problem. The central problem of this study was twofold: (1) to determine whether the educational research preparation offered by selected colleges and universities bore out the findings of critics, and (2) to synthesize and synergize opinions and facts regarding educational research, as expressed by men active in the field, into a flexible proposal whereby individual student's programs in research preparation could be "custom-made" to suit their most obvious research needs. Instructional Style And The Intellectual Performance Of Indian And Eskimo Students, Judith Kleinfield

ISER Reports

Three 1970-71 studies concerning the styles of instruction that lead to higher intellectual performance among village American Indian and Eskimo high school students are presented in this final report of observations of teachers and students in several Native boarding schools and/or integrated urban high schools in Alaska. The first study, an ethnography, describes the problems of these students and their teachers, and suggests a typology differentiating effective and ineffective teachers. This ethnography suggests that the teachers degree of personal warmth versus professional distance, and degree of active demandingness versus passive understanding, are fundamental dimensions separating successful from unsuccessful teachers. Mission: Life, John S. Damm Jul 1971

Mission: Life, John S. Damm

Concordia Theological Monthly

It has become almost a truism to say that we are currently living in a time of crisis. The word "crisis" is now rather easily applied to a wide range of social, economic, political, educational, environmental, and technological phenomena that make up much of the context of contemporary life. This pervasive sense of crisis certainly has not left untouched the realm of Christian education.

Thinking And Feeling In Education, Robert L. Conrad Jul 1971

Thinking And Feeling In Education, Robert L. Conrad

Concordia Theological Monthly

One of the troubles with teachers in the church and in public education is that they are adults. They do not think and imagine like children, but they take the results of adult thought and expect children to handle them. At the same time, their own education has led them to be suspicious of feelings and imagination, so that they ignore the feelings of children or try to get them to control their feelings and imagination with rational thought. Both of these tendencies have been challenged by recent studies.
