The Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service: A Descriptive History Of Its Origin And Development. (Volumes I And Ii)., Edwin Clark Forrest Jr

LSU Historical Dissertations and Theses

This dissertation studies the conditions which brought the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service (LCES) into existence in 1914 and which have sustained it for over 70 years. The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates that 40 percent of Russia's population consists of farmers and that approximately 70 percent of China's population are farmers. The significance of these figures in relation to productivity is apparent when contrasted with the United States farm population of 2 percent. The current high level of production in American agriculture, sustained by such a small percentage of the population, is not an accident, as Professor Roy V. Scott, …

Multicultural Education : A Book Of Readings, Gary Partington (Ed.) Jan 1987

Multicultural Education : A Book Of Readings, Gary Partington (Ed.)

Research outputs pre 2011

The problem of obtaining texts with material relevant to the core course in Aboriginal and Multicultural Education in the W.A. College led me to suggest a book of readings selected by those teaching the course. Obviously this was a trap for the unwary, for the diversity of recommendations that I received meant that unless the book was to be of mammoth proportions, some lecturers were bound to be disappointed. This was compounded by difficulties in tracking down authors to obtain their permission in time to publish.

Even so, it is anticipated that the collection of readings finally assembled will contribute …

It was also expected that "effective schools" use educational media in qualitatively superior ways to "ineffective schools". In addition, it was predicted that "effective schools" would have better prepared teachers in educational media and teachers with more years of teaching experience than "ineffective schools". The sample consisted of fourteen elementary schools located in 12 school districts throughout Louisiana. Each school was determined to be either …
