Two Views On The Federal Narcotics Law Problem: Ii - Need For An Effective Treatment And Education Program In The Federal Narcotics Law, Howard W. Jordan

Cleveland State Law Review

Our interest in the extent and nature of the narcotics problem stems from our experience as a social worker and probation officer over a number of years in trying to supervise narcotic users on probation. However, our interest was crystallized in 1951 at the increased number of such cases appearing in our court since 1950, and we became genuinely alarmed. As a result of staff discussion and interest, we were authorized by the chief probation officer, Richard J. McManus, to study this problem and to conduct a preliminary survey of the problem in the State of Ohio. The study pointed …

One of the most critical problems facing the American nation today is the delinquency of its children and adolescents. It is questlonable whether there is a greater problem today than in the past. The problem has been brought out in the open now through the action of our law enforcement agencies and social service organisation, while in earlier times few statistics were available concerning delinquency. Even today, many deliquent children escape the attention of the law or are in such a favorable situation in the community that their misdemeanore are passed by. A Study Of Elementary Physical Education At The Whittier School, Logan, Utah, Phyllis C. Jacobson

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

Since the First World War, there has been an increased recognition for the need of physical education in the elementary school. Although educators recognize and agree on the need, they are not in agreement as to how to best achieve this need. Some educators believe that physical education should be taught as a specialized subject. Through this means, instruction is provided by a specialist who is trained in physical education. Some educators believe that physical education should be integrated with every other phase of the school program and taught by the classroom teacher. There are other educators who believe that …

A Study Of Administrative Policies And Procedures For Girls' Physical Education In Selected Secondary Schools Of Southern Utah, Ann L. Lamb

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

Each person in education from the Commissioner of Education down to the classroom teacher is concerned with administration. Each has administrative duties. The way these duties are conducted and carried out will have a direct influence on the outcome of any physical education program and each child within this program.

Through the Tenth Amendment responsibility for the administration of education has been turned over to the various states. Most of the states through their constitutions place the responsibility upon the legislature to provide for organization and maintenance of public school systems. This body then draws up the statutory laws and …

A Comparative Study Of Attendance Problem Students And Students Of Regular Attendance At Arvin High School, 1952-1953, Earlene Patricia Waters

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

Since the Massachusetts Compulsory Education Law of 1642, the nature of the public secondary school student body has undergone .widespread changes. Public education has broadened its base to include all educable students of school age.

Attendance problems seemed to have increased with compulsory education. In the past, assumptions based upon limited observation have been drawn by educators concerning the individual students who constitute this attendance problem group. Since no specific study of attendance conditions existed for the Kern County Union High School District, this investigation has undertaken to meet that need.
