A Comparison Of Reading Readiness Between Kindergarten And Non-Kindergarten Children In The Wenatchee School District, Kenneth Dean Yancey

It was the purpose of this study to compare the percentile scores of the Metropolitan Readiness Test of first grade children in Wenatchee School District No. 246 who have had kindergarten with those first grade children in Wenatchee School District No. 246 who have not had kindergarten. The following factors were considered in this study: Chronological age, sex, and total percentile score. This data was taken from the Metropolitan Readiness Tests over a two-year period, 1966-67 and 1967-68.

The effects of self-fulfilling prophecies have been observed under various situations in the past, but Rosenthal and Jacobson's recent South San Francisco study has probably stimulated increased public and professional interest in the effects of expectations on learning. It was felt that additional research in this area was desirable ·in order to further examine how and to what extent expectancies can influence learning situations.

A common philosophy of administrators and music educators should be prerequisite for a successful music program. This philosophy should permit enough flexibility to allow for individual differences and yet be rigid enough to encompass general education needs and goals. It can only be shared through communication. The place of music within the curriculum will be understood through this communication between the music educator and the chief administrator. It shall be the purpose of this study to encourage the shared philosophy and communication relationship between school music educators and their administrators.

A review of the literature reveals a lack of information on planning and implementing team teaching at the first grade level. From the interest shown by visitors to South Auburn and the questions asked about the program, it is apparent that information on implementing team teaching is needed by educators considering similar implementation.

This study is relevant to the potential utility of a developmental approach to the assessment of ability in students designated “Edicable Mentally Retarded”. The purpose of this study was to assess the perceptions of counselors, vocational nursing students, and associate degree nursing students in three community colleges, and baccalaureate degree nursing students at two universities, in relation to a nursing education model. The nursing education model encompassed two areas: (1) characteristics of the vocational nursing, associate degree nursing and baccalaureate degree nursing programs, and (2) occupational functioning of the graduates of these programs. The purpose of this explanatory study was to determine whether teachers using either the traditional-didactic or the experimental-discovery method of instruction significantly affected the self-concept, academic self-concept, or the locus of control of their students. A secondary purpose of the study was to ascertain if a significant correlation existed between self-concept and locus of control.

Phase I was a minimal program in motor-sensory development.
