The May 1972 issue features articles about poverty and food stamps programs, final protests against Holiday Inn by the Bay construction (88 Spring Street), activism for proposed playground construction, unemployment.

This study was an attempt to determine through a survey of opinions to what extent the objectives, methods and procedures were effectively being accomplished in the professional preparation of student teachers in physical education at Utah State University.
A questionnaire was developed and administered to student teachers who were currently completing their student teaching experience, and mailed to graduates who had completed their preparation program between 1966 and 1971.
The areas surveyed, the pre-student teaching preparation, the assistance given by the university supervisor and the assistance rendered by the cooperating teacher were for the most part found to be adequate …

In Alaska's Boarding Home Program, rural students from small villages without high schools attend secondary school by living with a boarding home family. Most rural students in this program are Eskimo or Athabascan Indian, and the majority are placed with white families in urban areas. This study attempts to describe the subtle interpersonal tensions that develop in the boarding home parent-student relationship. It also attempts to identify the characteristics of successful and unsuccessful boarding home parents and ways of matching parents to students in a manner that maximizes mutual satisfaction. This paper presents a follow-up study of a Public Law 89-10, Elementary and Secondary Education Act Title III project, number 754, The Central Washington Regional Supplementary Center that served public and parochial schools in the nine central Washington counties.
Data were gathered by the questionnaire technique and site visitations.
Recommendations included investigating the possibility of requesting additional Title III funds and providing workshops to instruct teachers how to fully utilize the instructional materials and equipment provided by the Regional Center.

Aerospace And Environmental Education As An Interdisciplinary Curriculum In The Middle School, James Brooke Madill

This paper presents the union of aerospace and environmental education, and from their common ground draws a direct relationship with all subjects in the curriculum. This program was designed to demonstrate the feasibility of developing the middle school program around intrinsically interesting exploration in two fields of science which are of extreme importance in the world today. Following examples of possible connections with other areas in the curriculum a method of presentation is explored.
