Preschoolers' Feelings About Children With Physically Handicapping Conditions, Nancy L. Tucker
Student Work

How To Make A Token Economy Work: Goals And Variables Of Token Economies With The Institutionalized Mentally Retarded, Laura Ann Wade
How To Make A Token Economy Work: Goals And Variables Of Token Economies With The Institutionalized Mentally Retarded, Laura Ann Wade
Retrospective Theses and Dissertations
Token systems of reinforcement are an increasingly popular method of modifying the behavior of the institutionalized mentally retarded. The dramatic success of the token economy has resulted in its programmatic use without full consideration for the relevancy of treatment goals and the numerous variables that may contribute to the successful implementation and maintenance of the token economy. An examination of the treatment goals found in the existing literature reveals that two orientations presently exist: management/control and therapeutic/educative. Furthermore, a review of the literature reveals differing methods or variables may contribute to achieving a successful token economy with the mentally retarded. …

Bakke, DeFunis, and Minority Admissions: The Quest for Equal Opportunity
By Allan P. Sindler.
Sindler describes the admissions programs at the Universities of Washington and California-Davis, and the respective experiences of Marco DeFunis and Allan Bakke that preceded their litigation. Then, documenting the disparity in academic qualifications between accepted minorities and rejected nonminorities, Sindler addresses the broad issue before the courts. Is the reservation of academic "places" for minorities an inherently two-track system, which operates as an illegal quota to exclude "better-qualified" applicants; or may a school utilize race as a basis for selection in order to fulfill other commitments …

Regular high school stud ents, male (N=51) and female (N=52) were treated as "deferrers of gratification". Potential dropout students, Males (N=26) and females (N=23) …

The Significance Of Projecting Enrollment In Determining School District Apportionment Revenue In Washington State For 1979, Charles M. Plesha
All Graduate Projects
The enrollment of the Sunnyside School District for the 1979-80 school year was estimated. This enrollment figure determined the potential staff allocation size, which in turn determined the 3010 apportionment revenues from the state. Revenues, likewise, determined the district's 00, 30 and 97 programs' staff expenditures. Those predictions were made for the general fund budget only. In addition, other revenues received from the state by Sunnyside School District, which effected the 3010 apportionment account, were explained. Actual historical enrollment data of Sunnyside School District No. 201 were utilized to make all projections as meaningful as possible.
