The role of American educational philosophy in the democratization of Japanese society warrants more attention than it has thus far received. It was with this in mind that the following study was undertaken.

Church And State Relationships In Education In Utah, James R. Clark

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

The study treats a highly controversial area in American education as it applies to the State of Utah. The proper relation between Church and state in the field of education has not yet been settled, nor is it likely ever to be with any finality. In two most recent cases involving the legal issues of Church and State in education ( McCullum vs. Board of Education, 333 U. S. 203 and Zorach V. Clawson, 343 U. s. 306) the United States Supreme Court has written split opinions. The 1956 White House Conference on Education found that religion and segregation were …

4. The Church's Bid For Intellectual Leadership, Robert L. Bloom, Basil L. Crapster, Harold A. Dunkelberger, Charles H. Glatfelter, Richard T. Mara, Norman E. Richardson, W. Richard Schubart

Section III: The Medieval Church

We have already noted the Church's claim to teach "in all its fulness every doctrine that men ought to be brought to know, and that regarding things visible and invisible, in heaven and on earth." During the Dark Ages it was too busy with other problems to be able to concern itself much with education. While there were sporadic attempts earlier, it was only during the eleventh and twelfth centuries that the Church turned more seriously to the problem of educating its members. This work was carried on primarily in the monastery and cathedral schools. But, because the monasteries of …

The Vanguard (Vol. 5, No. 5), June 1958, Lutheran Human Relations Association Of America

The Vanguard

What with the Kremlin trying to beat us to the draw, and the die-hard segregationist South trying to gain supremacy over the Supreme Court, and the present generation of child-bearing mothers bringing ever more and more children into the world, education and teachers are getting a lot of attention; at least much is being said and written about what's wrong with education and: those who do the teaching. While we are on the subject, it may not be out of place to make a few comments on Lutheran grade schools in The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod and the teaching …
