Directionality As A Sequence Effect In Programmed Learning Of A Verbal Concept, L. Xavier Keele
Student Work
Thirty years ago Sidney Pressey (1926) published an article describing an apparatus for presenting multiple choice questions which gave the student immediate feedback regarding the correctness of his response to the questions. Although this device was intended to be a "testing machine" rather than a "teaching machine", it is often generously designated the status of being the first teaching machine. Pressey's machine had little impact upon the educational world and for a generation teaching machines were all but forgotten. In the 1950's B.F. Skinner began the modern movement to automate education. Psychologists, but as noted by Bugeleki (1964, p. 208) …
The University And The Liberty Of Its Students -- A Fiduciary Theory, Alvin L. Goldman
The University And The Liberty Of Its Students -- A Fiduciary Theory, Alvin L. Goldman
Law Faculty Scholarly Articles
The disciplinary power of a university is a force which every student has cause to fear. The exercise, or threat of exercise, of a school’s disciplinary power is felt in every area of campus life. Invocation of disciplinary sanctions against a student whose personal conduct or attitudes contravene standards dear to the school authorities has occurred in such ludicrous cases as the failure of a co-ed to be a “typical Syracuse girl.” In another case, a student was expelled because she refused to pay purported debts which she asserted were properly her husband’s obligations. As insidious as it may be …

Editorial, Gilbert A. Thiele
Editorial, Gilbert A. Thiele
Concordia Theological Monthly
To some it may seem a bit late in the day to urge that the family and family life are important in the training of Christian children. Others may feel that Oscar E. Feucht's article on the place of the family in the educational work of the church is unnecessary, as though Lutheran families have known this all along and have acted accordingly. There may be still a third group which will see in the publication of this material another part of a conspiracy to downgrade parochial school education, especially as its objectives have to do with the imparting of …
