Understanding The Complexities Of Drug Transactional Interaction Between The Patient And Pharmacist: A Scoping Review, Md. Shahgahan Miah, Penchan Pradubmook Sherer, Nithima Sumpradit, Luechai Sringernyuang
Asia-Pacific Social Science Review
Drug transaction interaction is a complex global phenomenon in terms of drug safety, quality, and rational use. Non-participatory interactions concerning drugs might lead to adverse effects, as well as loss of resources, time, and money. The complexities of drug transactional interactions in developing countries, especially in the Asian context, are understudied. Therefore, this scoping review aimed to map the scientific evidence that explored the patient–pharmacist interaction patterns for primary health care in relation to drug transactional complexities in pharmacy care settings. For this purpose, we adopted the methodological framework by Arksey and O’Malley (2005). The PubMed, Science Direct, EBSCO discovery …

Communicating The Value Of Design Research, Joseph Lindley, David Philip Green, Mayane Dore, Zach Mason, Claire Coulton, Arne Berger, Miriam Sturdee
DRS Biennial Conference Series
The overarching theme for this Conversation was How can we communicate the value of Design Research? This was accompanied by the more specific question, How we can get Design Research into ‘Research Methods 101’? At the Conversation, which was attended by approximately 30 participants, five groups were formed, and a ‘Question Bridge’ format was adopted to explore these themes—a structure which uses question and answers pairs to explore challenges and mitigation strategies around the theme. The Question Bridge exercise demonstrated that there are clear divisions and contrasting perspectives in the Design Research community. The subse- quent plenary discussion showed that …

How Perception-Based Decisions Can Negatively Shape Your Leadership Performance (Decision-Making And Behavior), Vincent Jemison
How Perception-Based Decisions Can Negatively Shape Your Leadership Performance (Decision-Making And Behavior), Vincent Jemison
Southern University College of Business E-Journal
In present-day, one of the most subtle means political leaders use to influence their base of supporters is through verbal communication. With this in mind, research shows that over the past two years, some political leaders have increasingly relied on “transferring their perception onto their base of followers, which often negatively stimulates, arouses and shapes an individual’s performance” (decision-making and behavior). In addition, to the detriment of our society, when political leaders transfer their perception onto their base of followers, they often misjudge the sensitive consequences of their prospective outcomes. Here for the first time, research now shows that a …

Latent Linguistic Motifs In Social Media Postings Resisting Covid-19 Misinformation
Faculty, Staff and Student Publications
Social media has become a predominant source of information for many health care consumers. However, false and misleading information is a pervasive problem in this context. Specifically, health-related misinformation has become a significant public health challenge, impeding the effectiveness of public health awareness campaigns and resulting in suboptimal responsiveness to the communication of legitimate risk-related information. Little is known about the mechanisms driving the seeding and spreading of such information. In this paper, we specifically examine COVID-19 tweets which attempt to correct misinformation. We employ a mixed-methods approach comprising qualitative coding, deep learning classification, and computerized text analysis to understand …
To Be Seen To Be Heard: Embracing Social Anxiety In The Workplace, Jingxuan Chen
To Be Seen To Be Heard: Embracing Social Anxiety In The Workplace, Jingxuan Chen
Masters Theses
Social anxiety has become the third most common mental illness in the U.S, but there still is a lack of public understanding of this issue as it often goes unspoken. Through my research, I found that social anxiety is deeply entangled with environments, situations, and interpersonal interactions; especially within unfamiliar, uncomfortable, and unsafe situations.
Workplace exacerbates social anxiety as people are constantly being evaluated by others, exposed to new situations, and required to perform well, which leaves no room for people to share the unspoken and seek support. Guided by the questions of what social anxiety is and how it …

Tablets As A Vehicle For Imprisoned People’S Digital Connection With Loved Ones, Andrea Mufarreh
Dissertations, Theses, and Capstone Projects
The intersection between criminal justice and technology is fairly understudied, despite increasing technological advancements in the world and within the criminal justice system. A rather recent addition to the technological landscape of prison is the adoption of tablets used by imprisoned people for communication and connection with loved ones and other activities, which is particularly important given the context of COVID-19, a virus which caused a global pandemic from 2020-2022. While the use of tablets by imprisoned people appears to be a new trend, the use of tablets in prison both prior to and during the pandemic has remained an …

Group Singing As A Tool To Bridge Communication Between People With Aphasia And Their Caregivers: A Literature Review, Allison Whiteside Pollard
Expressive Therapies Capstone Theses
Aphasia is a devastating language disorder induced by stroke that is typically treated using Speech-Language therapy. Given aphasia’s adverse effects on an individual’s mental health status, familial structure, relationships, community involvement and general sense of self, the available treatment options should encompass interventions that target all of these areas. Music therapy is a convenient and easily accessible form of treatment for aphasia, ranging in individual and group applications. While the existing literature surrounding aphasia and music therapy is limited, conclusions can be made about its application in treating the aphasic patient as a whole, and not just their speech and …

Improving Healthcare Team Communication With Limited English Proficiency Families In The Nicu, Ivonne Mandell
Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects
Language barriers are common in healthcare settings, creating disparities in care between individuals with limited English proficiency and those with English proficiency. In the NICU setting, professional medical interpreters have been shown to improve parent/staff communication and increase parent satisfaction by allowing parents to ask questions and form trusting relationships with staff. Solid parent-provider communication can result in better health outcomes by increasing parental empowerment and participation in their child’s care. Despite the acknowledged advantages of using professional interpreters in healthcare settings, they are frequently under-utilized, even when readily available. The purpose of this project was to improve communication with …

Nurses Leading In Bridging The Culture Gap: Communicating With The Deaf Community, Veronica C. Leftridge
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Nurses provide patient care in clinics, hospitals, homes, churches, schools, communities, and military, as well as on emergency medical helicopters. When a nurse is assigned to care for a patient, the patient expects the nurse to be culturally competent, communicate effectively, and provide safe quality care. However, cultural incompetence is observed when nurses provide care for Deaf patients, but they are unfamiliar with Deaf culture. In addition, communication is a fundamental skill nurses learn in nursing school, but course content in nursing programs rarely touches on how to communicate effectively with Deaf patients. Of the approximately 325 million people in …
