The consensus indefinite extension of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in 1995 and the more recent conclusion of a Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty. which was supported by all five of the world's declared nuclear weapons states, allow for unprecedented optimism by nonproliferation experts regarding nuclear weapons proliferation curtailment and weapons reduction. These recent inroads into the accomplishment of NPT goals raise new questions. however. regarding the underlying commitment level of nuclear powers. China's proliferation record, in particular. is marred with inconsistencies, but its current economic growth and increasingly nonisolationist policies may cause China to reconsider its past noncompliance with the …

President Richard Nixon's decision to unofficially recognize Communist China during the early 1970s represented an apparently sudden political and strategic turnabout for both he and the United States. After decades of virulent anti-Communism upon which a meteoric political career was built, Nixon, faced with mounting domestic pressures to end the Vietnam War and the necessity of obtaining policy concessions from the Soviet Union, embarked upon a course of detente with Mainland China that seemed to completely contradict his hawkish, Cold Warrior image. The current system of United States export controls began with the Export Control Act of 1949. Following World War II, Congress passed this legislation to establish a strategic embargo against communist nations in an attempt to control trade to further the national security and foreign policy interests of the West. In 1969, Congress reformed the export control laws by passing the Export Administration Act of 1969 – which contained no inherent limits. However, the increasing tension between the U.S. business interests and the national security and foreign policy interests made Congress once again alter the legislation and the Export Administration …

Having taught numerous works of American literature -- novels, short stories, essays, poems -- for two and a half years to junior and senior undergraduates and graduate students of English literature and language in two Chinese universities (Fuzhou University and Xiamen University, both in the southeastern coastal province of Fujian, during 1984-1985 and 1986-1988), I have been struck by the almost unanimous recognition of Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter as the students' "number one." This paper seeks to explore the crucial determinants that shape the Chinese legal system's use of the death penalty. Why have the Chinese relied so heavily on execution as a form of sentencing? What factors and conditions account for the major changes in the frequency of China's use of the death penalty? What indigenous traditions are reflected in China's implementation of the death penalty? This Comment will focus on the nature and likely effect of the new United States export licensing rules regulating the transfer of technology to China. Part I will address the history and development of United States export control policy to China. A Lutheran Confessional Critique Of The Understanding And Function Of The Believer’S Union With Christ In The Theolcgy Of Watchman Nee, Dennis Paul Schiefelbein
Master of Sacred Theology Thesis
The purpose of this thesis, therefore, is to construct systematically Nee's understanding of the believer's union with Christ, and then outline the function he ascribes to this union in Christian sanctification. Then after identifying specific focal points on which Nee's theological system depends, I will bring an extensive study of the Lutheran Confessions to bear on these issues. In terms of a question, has Nee developed a theology which may be acceptable to Confessional Lutheranism? Our study will begin with a brief historical section on Nee.

This thesis explores the concept of equitable healthcare access by comparing health systems in Sweden, Great Britain, the Soviet Union, and China, providing insights into their structures, policies, and outcomes. The analysis focuses on four critical aspects: hospitals, doctors’ practice locations, payment mechanisms, and accessibility. It highlights Sweden’s state-supported insurance system, which combines public planning with private enterprise, emphasizing universal accessibility and preventive care.
