The recent outbreak of coronavirus infectious disease 2019 (COVID-19) has gripped the world with apprehension and has evoked a scare of epic proportion regarding its potential to spread and infect humans worldwide. As we are in the midst of an ongoing pandemic of COVID-19, scientists are struggling to understand how it resembles and differs from the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) at the genomic and transcriptomic level. In a short time following the outbreak, it has been shown that, similar to SARS-CoV, COVID-19 virus exploits the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor to gain entry inside the cells. This Article reviews the status of selected contemporary peace processes in the early stages of the COVID-19 outbreak and explores some of the initial effects that the pandemic has had on those processes. The Article first provides an overview of the 20th and 21st century trend toward internationalized peace processes. Then, it introduces several contemporary mediation efforts that were ongoing at the onset of the pandemic and examines the early impacts of COVID-19 on those peace processes. In so doing, the Article identifies instances where actors have exploited the pandemic and peace processes where momentum has shrunk under COVID-19. …

Amid the current COVID-19 pandemic, Cooperative Extension personnel across the nation are quickly adapting to daily changes while continuing to respond to the needs of clients. This article provides examples of how we in North Carolina State Extension Forestry have responded to the challenges we have faced thus far. The solutions and tools described can be used in the current situation and for future pandemics, disasters, and other unique events that require "alternative" arrangements. The present work tries to understand if the health communication programs in Chile are sufficient and, specifically, if the Chilean state guarantees the right to information of indigenous peoples in the context of COVID-19 in the Arica and Parinacota region. For this, semi-structured interviews were carried out and analyzed using the Atlas.ti software. The results showed that the indigenous peoples of Arica and Parinacota need intercultural programs that recognize their rights and cultures, and more access to information.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has been sweeping the globe for the past few months, leading to worldwide travel restrictions, including a shelter in place order and closure of non-essential businesses in Montana. The Institute for Tourism and Recreation Research (ITRR) at the University of Montana emailed a survey to tourism-related business owners around Montana. Two separate rounds of the COVID-19 business survey were emailed during March. Over the past century, Congress has made the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) responsible for regulating the safety and efficacy of drugs and devices being deployed in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The FDA’s regulatory infrastructure was built for public health threats and to combat manufacturers' misinformation about treatments.

This article spotlights the ways in which FDA has been adapting to a new challenge during the COVID-19 pandemic: combating misinformation emanating from within the executive branch.

The COVID-19 Pandemic is the biggest challenge for the world since World War Two, warned UN Secretary General, António Guterres, on 1 April 2020. Millions of lives may be lost. Coronavirus, a pandemic threat to human beings, has awakened huge concern worldwide, but no bibliometric studies have been conducted on Coronavirus research during 2011-Feb.2020. The aim of this study is to map research productivity on the Coronavirus based on the articles indexed in the Scopus database. The articles related to Coronavirus dated from 2011 to Feb. 2020 were retrieved from the Scopus database. A total of 7558 papers were retrieved for this study which indexed by the Scopus database during 2010-Feb. 2020. Rationale: Early evaluation of the burden of disease that COVID-19 may produce in a community is critical to appropriately allocate resources for COVID-19 prevention and treatment.

Objective: The primary objective of this study is to define the incidence, epidemiology, and clinical outcomes of patients with COVID-19 in the Louisville, Kentucky, and southern Indiana region (Kentuckiana) of the USA.

Methods: This will be a retrospective observational study of patients in the Kentuckiana region with the diagnosis of COVID-19.
