Drug Repurposing For Covid-19 Using Molecular Docking Tools, Deniz Yasar Oztas

Computational and Data Sciences (MS) Theses

Since severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is highly contagious and mortal, finding a treatment is time critical. Drug repurposing is probably the quickest and safest approach in our arsenal. However, testing every drug in a brute force manner would require a lot of resources, and a more sophisticated method is required to filter possible candidates. Since several molecules have already been shown to be effective against SARS-CoV-2 in wet-lab experiments, choosing drugs with similar characteristics would increase our chances of success. In this study, we compare the molecular docking results of FDA-approved drugs from the ZINC database against …

Debt Expansion As "Relief And Rescue" At The Time Of The Covid-19 Pandemic: Insights From The Legal Theory Of Finance, Iris Hse-Yu Chiu, Andreas Kokkinis, Andrea Miglionico

Indiana Journal of Global Legal Studies

In Section II, we discuss the relief and rescue policies in the US, UK, and EU and show how they have been advanced by legal elasticity in suspensions from normal private and regulatory law. Crucially, such legal elasticity is intended to facilitate an increased debt burden for corporations and households as a means of relief and rescue. We argue that this policy choice, which is startlingly similar in these developed jurisdictions, has been influenced by the contexts of financialization in these jurisdictions and the perception of temporary duration by policy makers. However, there is a need to critically interrogate the …

Nursing Capstones

COVID-19 has accelerated an already urgent need for telehealth in the United States. While health care systems have been providing telehealth for years, the number of providers and patients who need to participate in telehealth has ballooned overnight. Though telehealth has been in use for a while, the geriatric population seems to be disadvantaged, especially those who reside in rural settings. Due to increased COVID 19 cases among the elderly population in North Dakota, the Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP) allocated a grant to the University of North Dakota to promote telehealth in the elderly receiving homecare services in rural …

Gastón Institute Publications

Latino children are one of Massachusetts' fastest-growing segments of the population. However, evidence suggests that the social and economic context in which Latino children live does not adequately support their development and overall wellbeing. Nearly a third of Latino children in the United States live in very low-opportunity neighborhoods as defined by a scale of educational, health, environmental, and socioeconomic outcomes. Compared to non-Latino children, Latinos are more likely to grow up in households below the federal poverty threshold and less likely to have a mother with at least a Bachelor's degree. The research included in this report aims to …
