Exploring Biblical Foundations In Biology, Keith Snyder Phd
The Journal of Biblical Foundations of Faith and Learning
Biologists have one of the most challenging areas of study due to the breadth of topics. Biology literally encompasses all life. Since life is based on chemical principles, which in turn are based on physical laws, we need to understand this panorama of science. Because academia in the US has pigeon-holed so much of our education, students are often unable to see the true integration of all aspects of life, resulting in a warped understanding of the interrelated complexity of our God’s creation. It is our duty to show how this intertwining of science and faith more fully represents God’s …

Linfield University Student Symposium: A Celebration of Scholarship and Creative Achievement
Zoonotic viruses, which can spread from animals to humans, are responsible for recent human pandemics. Thus, it is critical to understand the molecular factors that allow viruses to infect host cells. Since 2020, SARS-CoV-2 likely spilled over from bats into the human population causing approximately 7 million deaths globally. While SARS-CoV-2 is known to canonically use angiotensin converting enzyme 2 to bind and enter cells, recent molecular studies have discovered 10 alternative human receptors. It is unclear whether these proteins represent biologically significant avenues for SARS-CoV-2 entry in humans or other animals. We hypothesize that host receptor sequence changes resulting …
