A high-speed digital video camera can be used to obtain highly reliable short-sprint split times. Split time data can be used to estimate instantaneous position, velocity, and acceleration by fitting an exponential function to the known positional data yielding force-velocity (F-V) profiles that may provide more information than just sprint times alone. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the between-rater reliability of different exponential functions used to estimate instantaneous data. The purpose of this study was to examine a calculation method of the leg stiffness using the simplified leg model for evaluating the continuous changes in leg stiffness during the step phase of the triple jump. The leg stiffness is the ratio of the ground reaction forces to a displacement of the simplified leg length. We compared the difference in the leg stiffness between the previous method and the proposed method in this study. Lower Body Contributions To Pelvis Energy Flow And Pitch Velocity In Collegiate Baseball Players, Arnel Aguinaldo, Kristen Nicholson

The aims of this study were to examine the generation, absorption, and transfer of energy through the pelvis at the drive hip, stride hip, and lumbosacral joints and to determine predictors of ball speed during baseball pitching. Motion capture and ground reaction force (GRF) data from 20 collegiate pitchers were analysed using energy flow and LASSO regression analyses. Energy was transferred from the drive leg to the pelvis during the stride phase while energy was transferred from the pelvis to the stride leg and trunk during arm-cocking. Drive leg GRF, impulse, and stride hip generation contribute to pitch velocity.

Bend running on an indoor track is influenced by differing structural constraints including banking and radii of the curve. Regardless of these constraints, an athlete must preserve whole-body postural control to maintain their running speed. The purpose of this study was to investigate the extent to which banking (banked v flat) and radii (lane 2 v lane 4) of a 200m indoor track influences whole centre of mass (CoM) during sprint running. When running in both lane 2 and lane 4, athletes’ CoM was closer to their inside foot when the track was banked compared to flat (p < 0.05, 0-100% of stance). In conjunction with increased CoM anterior velocity identified for the banked condition (p < 0.05, 0-100% of stance), the findings highlighted banking of the curve to be the preferable structural constraints for whole-body postural control, compared to a flat track.

The purpose of the current study was to 1) investigate the effectiveness of an eight-week training specific to cross-country skiing on kinematic characteristics of the double-pole techniques in novice athletes; 2) examine the relationships between joint angles and poling kinematics during different phases of the double-pole in novice and experienced athletes. Ten novice cross-country skiing college athletes from China and nine experienced cross-country skiing college athletes from the United States participated in the eight-week cross-country skiing training. The proximal-to-distal force transfer of the kinetic chain in overarm throwing has well-established movements. The nature of the transfer of momentum from the lower trunk to the shoulder during an overarm throw remains to be determined. This study explored correlations between angular momentum about the superior-inferior axis of the lower trunk and compressive and anterior shear forces at the shoulder in experienced baseball players as they made maximum effort throws from the outfield. The purpose of this study was to present effects of the immediate feedback training on techniques in college male javelin throwers. The participants were five college male javelin throwers. The technical problems revealed by the preliminary motion analysis were explained to the participants for this experiment. In the immediate feedback training, an iPad displaying the motion pattern of the ELITE throwers (Notomo et al., 1998) was set up, and a delayed playback device was used to allow the participants to visually compare their own movements with the model after throwing. Herbert Cormack (1900-1994), was born on June 2 in Kinsley, Kansas and grew up in Garden City, Kansas. He graduated from the Kansas State Teachers College of Pittsburg (now Pittsburg State University) in 1928. During his time at KSTCP, Cormack lettered in basketball for the 1926-1928 seasons. In 1928 Herbert and Elizabeth Cornelius were married on September 29. After graduating, Cormack coached for one year in Mound City, Kansas and five years at Pleasanton, Kansas before moving …
