This is the 75th Anniversary edition of the Wooster Voice. The first page of this issue announces two musical alumni events on campus. The first event, a joint vocal and piano concert, would be given by two alumni. Genevieve Rowe Hill and Robert Payson Hill returned to campus to put on this concert for the 75th Anniversary and Homecoming. The second concert was also given by a distinguished alumni. Jane Claire Dirks's Doctorate Of Philosophy Degree, University Of Illinois

Jane Claire Dirks-Edmunds Documents

This diploma from the University of Illinois awards the Doctor of Philosophy degree to Jane Claire DIrks (later Jane Claire Dirks-Edmunds) in June of 1941. Dirks-Edmunds began to study Zoology in Illinois immediately after earning her Bachelor's degree in Biology from Linfield College in 1937. Dr. Dirks-Edmunds received her Ph.D. on her 29^th birthday and returned to Linfield to teach in the Biology department from 1941-1974.

Many of the specimens collected by Jane Claire Dirks (later Jane Claire Dirks-Edmunds) went on to become part of her colleagues' collections. In this letter, Paul Bartsch, Curator of the the Divisions of Mollusks and Cenozoic Invertebrates at the Smithsonian Institution, thanks Dirks for shells she sent to the museum.

The Reflector was a student run newspaper created in 1922 at the State Teachers Normal School at Newark, now Kean University. It began as a monthly newsletter with the same name, some were printed by Lackawanna Press, Newark. In 1960, the newspaper changed its name to The Independent. The editor of this issue was Ambrose Corcoran.
