The Agricultural Production Of China, Japan And Asiatic Russia, James Mudra Jan 1959

The Agricultural Production Of China, Japan And Asiatic Russia, James Mudra

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

This paper will attempt to evaluate the agricultural production of China, Japan, and Asiatic Russia in the post-World War II period. The appraisal is based on the agricultural productions which are raised mainly for food consumption; however, such industrial crops as cotton, flax, and hemp are considered also. The claims of the Chinese First Five Year Plan, results of the Japanese Land reform, and the land development program in Asiatic Russian are all examined. A comparison is made between the pre-war and post-War periods in an effort to determine the amount of increase in production of agricultural goods, on both …

Information For Prospective Settlers Concerning Agriculture In Alaska, N/A N/A Sep 1958

Information For Prospective Settlers Concerning Agriculture In Alaska, N/A N/A

Bulletin

ALASKA'S agriculture is a growing industry. In 1957 some $4 1/2 million worth of food and feed grown by 200 full-time and 350 part-time farmers brought nearly $9 million in the market place. Crop volume doubled between 1950 and 1955. While Alaskan agriculture has been rapidly expanding, growers have been also keeping abreast of Stateside grading and packaging practices. They now offer homegrown products of the highest quality. A few farms are as modern as any in the States. Some farmers net $10,000 year or more, although the average is closer to $4,000 because many farms are small and others …

The World Of Jesus In The Words Of Jesus, Robert L. Einspahr Jun 1958

The World Of Jesus In The Words Of Jesus, Robert L. Einspahr

Bachelor of Divinity

The scope of this thesis is limited to the words of Jesus as found in a Red-letter edition of the Authorized Version of the Bible. From these words of Jesus, terms and phrases were chosen that had, or appeared to have allusions to the world of the first century after Christ. These terms and phrases were then arranged into related categories as indicated by the chapter headings. Intensive reading was then done in the works and writings of missionaries and travelers in Palestine, of professional archaeologists and Orientalists. In this reading special attention was given to data which shed light …

Utah's Future Water Problems, Wayne D. Criddle Jan 1958

Utah's Future Water Problems, Wayne D. Criddle

Faculty Honor Lectures

Utah is rapidly changing from what was once predominately an agricultural state to an urban and industrial state. This shift is not decreasing our water needs; it is often intensifying these needs and creating many new problems. Perhaps we should ask ourselves-are we prepared to recognize and accept these changes? Are we really facing up to the problems that are developing or are we turning our heads and hoping they will go away? These changes involve technical, legal, and sociological problems never before encountered, some of which I should like to discuss.

Before attempting to look at Utah's water problems …

2. An Agricultural Revolution, Robert L. Bloom, Basil L. Crapster, Harold L. Dunkelberger, Charles H. Glatfelter, Richard T. Mara, Norman E. Richardson, W. Richard Schubart

Section XIV: The Industrial Revolution, Classical Economics, and Economic Liberalism

While capitalism was making rapid strides toward dominating English industry, changes were taking place in agriculture which made it more efficient and productive, and which prepared it to be fitted eventually into the industrial capitalistic pattern. Actually, changes in the direction had been occurring in English agriculture since the revival of trade discussed in earlier chapters. [excerpt]
