Single-Queue, Multi-Kind Escalation: One Human-Confirmation Gate For Three Structurally Different Automated Judgments In An Autonomous Compliance Pipeline, Vipul Panday
Defensive Publications Series
An autonomous pipeline that both detects issues and acts on them (filing tickets, refreshing a reference corpus, adopting a new rule) will, almost as soon as it does more than one kind of consequential thing, produce more than one kind of moment where its own judgment is not trustworthy enough to act on unsupervised. The conventional response is a bespoke review mechanism per kind of uncertainty, added piecemeal as each is discovered during development: a findings-review screen here, an admin flag there, a Slack thread for whatever comes up next. This disclosure documents a mechanism from a production website-accessibility scanning …

Autonomous artificial intelligence (AI) agents increasingly perform critical tasks, yet their lack of transparency makes it difficult to verify that a model was authentic and uncompromised when a decision was made and to maintain a trustworthy audit trail. The techniques presented herein implement a Cryptographic Agent Provenance Ledger (CAPL) security architecture that uses hardware-backed enclaves, privacy-preserving zero-knowledge proofs, hardware-rooted state continuity, and in-enclave cryptographic batching to create tamper-resistant, forensic-grade provenance for AI decisions. CAPL gates release of each inference output until its provenance record is created and ordered, while later hardware-backed notarization anchors batches of already-gated records. By cryptographically binding …

Method For Memory-Bounded Construction Of A Globally Complete, High-Zoom-Level Cloud-Optimized Geotiff From Tile-Access Logs, Sascha Brawer
Defensive Publications Series
A memory-bounded method is disclosed for constructing a globally complete, high-zoom-level Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFF — a planet-wide raster at web-map zoom level 18, on the order of 10¹¹ cells — from a rolling window of tile-access logs, using working memory that is essentially constant in the number of cells. The output is a standards-compliant COG with a full reduced-resolution overview pyramid, derived by robustly aggregating the per-tile time series; it is several hundred times smaller than a naïve dense encoding. The method combines a level-embedding space-filling tile key, a two-stage disk-backed ordering (per-period external sort followed by a cross-period streaming merge), …

Designing High-Resilience Hybrid Metamaterials: A Systems Engineering Specification For Elemental Hybridization, Solitonic Stabilization, And Non-Destructive Process Verification In Artificial Crystal Lattices, Christopher L. Eckes
Defensive Publications Series
Traditional artificial crystal lattices grown via high-mass commercial methods exhibit acute failure modes under extreme operational environments. These loops manifest as high-frequency acoustic micro-cracking along crystal grain boundaries during cyclic load profiles, or structural delamination driven by thermal expansion differentials across thin-film interfaces.
This specification introduces a formalized systems engineering framework for the elemental hybridization of lab-grown crystal substrates—specifically Thin-Film Lithium Niobate (LiNbO₃) and 3D Self-Assembled Inverse Opal Lattices. By strategically infiltrating these substrates with low-weight-fraction Graphene Oxide (GO) nanosheets and Boron Nitride Nano-Tubes (BNNTs), we create hybrid, non-linear metamaterials that isolate, dampen, and redirect destructive kinetic and thermal wave …

Engineering and Technology Journal
This study investigated a two-stage surface modification strategy for ZK60 magnesium alloy based on 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) pretreatment followed by electrospun polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) nanofibers containing ZnO and hydroxyapatite (HA) nanoparticles. Three PVP/ZnO/HA formulations were prepared to examine the effect of nanoparticle loading, and corresponding coatings with and without APTES pretreatment were compared. The coatings were characterized using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM/EDX), and a cross-hatch adhesion test. Corrosion behavior was evaluated in simulated body fluid (SBF) using open-circuit potential (OCP) monitoring and potentiodynamic polarization. Antibacterial activity was screened against S. …

This work aims to inhibit carbon steel surface as pipelines by adding carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) with three concentrations (1, 3 and 5 g/L) in seawater environment at four temperatures in the range of 298 – 328 K. The investigation was done by recording Tafel plots and EIS curves to show that the lowest concentration is the best to protect the steel surface with efficiencies ranged between 95.68 – 89.36 % that decrease with increasing temperature due to the decomposition of CMC that begin after ≈ 308 K. An attempt to enhance the protection by CMC at higher temperature has been …

Reconfiguring Distribution Networks Using The Aco+Tnc Algorithm, Specifying The Location, Size, And Number Of Added Renewable Energy Sources, Mohammed Falah Hasan, Rana Ali Abttan
Engineering and Technology Journal
Distribution networks face increasing pressure from rising loads and renewable energy integration, making the simultaneous optimization of reconfiguration and distributed generation placement a critical engineering challenge, and conventional single-objective methods are insufficient for simultaneously addressing power losses, voltage profile degradation, and the structural constraints of radial networks. This paper proposes a hybrid framework that combines Ant Colony Optimization with the Truncated Newton Constrained method to jointly solve network reconfiguration alongside the optimal placement, sizing, and type selection of renewable distributed generation—both solar PV and wind—within a single unified model. The approach relies on a four-part weighted objective function covering active …

Monogenic syndromes are associated with neurodevelopmental changes that result in cognitive impairments and neurobehavioral phenotypes, including autism and seizures. Limited studies and resources are available to make meaningful headway into the underlying molecular mechanisms that result in these symptoms. One such example is DeSanto-Shinawi Syndrome (DESSH), a rare disorder caused by pathogenic variants in the

Fast Discovery Of Motivic Patterns In Symbolic Music Via Lossy Compression, Adam James Wilson
Publications and Research
Generative systems that react to live musicians require rapid analysis of musical data, which rules out deep learning models: they cannot be trained within the time constraints of live performance. But because analysis results are often transformed before use, we are free to reduce the parameters that undergo transformation to a small set of primitive states. We address this coincidence of constraint and opportunity with an algorithm for online discovery of maximal musical motives that achieves speed through lossy compression: the pitch and inter-onset-interval deltas for all pairs of events in a potential motive are reduced to two-bit values, conceptualized …

Abiotic stress conditions impair plant metabolism partly by inducing the excessive production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Melatonin, a multifunctional indoleamine, has emerged as an important regulator of plant responses to oxidative stress. This review highlights recent findings on the interactions among phytomelatonin, ROS homeostasis, antioxidant metabolism, photosynthetic protection, stress priming, and abiotic stress tolerance. We discuss how melatonin modulates the antioxidative response under diverse stress conditions and evaluate its effects on photosynthetic performance, ROS signaling, and membrane stability. Special attention is given to priming studies showing that melatonin pretreatment can improve stress tolerance. Emerging evidence from plant tissue culture …

Chemical Engineering
Natural water bodies become eutrophic due to phosphate pollution from industrial and agricultural sectors. This research addresses waste disposal and water pollution at the same time by recycling spent low-temperature shift catalyst (LTSSC) from the fertilizer industry as a sustainable phosphate adsorbent. High surface area (247±5 m2/g), mesoporous structure, and many metal oxide sites (CuO 49%, ZnO 32.2%, and Al2O₃ 13.9%) were shown by characterization using XRF, XRD, BET, SEM–EDX, FTIR, particle size analysis, and zeta potential. Under optimum conditions (contact time 1.64 h, dose 5 g/L, initial concentration 9.58 mg/L, stirring 278 rpm), Response Surface Methodology optimization achieved 92.95±2.8% …

Drought Priming Improves Waterlogging Tolerance In Alfalfa, But Less Effectively Than Waterlogging Priming, Gürkan Demi̇rkol, Ni̇lüfer Kara
Turkish Journal of Botany
Waterlogging severely restricts growth and productivity in alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.), necessitating effective strategies to improve stress tolerance. This study investigated whether drought priming or waterlogging priming could enhance tolerance to subsequent waterlogging stress in the alfalfa cultivar “Bilensoy-80”. Plants were subjected to drought priming, waterlogging priming, or no priming prior to progressive waterlogging stress for 0, 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20 days. Waterlogging priming consistently alleviated growth inhibition, maintained chlorophyll content, and reduced oxidative damage under prolonged stress. Drought priming was associated with partial cross-tolerance, particularly through improved root growth, plant water status, and oxidative stress responses, although …

Harmonicthreads: A Formative Evaluation Of A Fabric-Based Digital Musical Instrument Toward Inclusive Music-Making, Ellie Nguyen, Franceli L. Cibrian
Engineering Faculty Articles and Research
Background:
Inclusive music-making requires instruments that support varied bodies, abilities, musical backgrounds, and forms of participation. Digital musical instruments provide diverse approaches to sound creation, and fabric-based interfaces offer an alternative interaction modality that may support participation for some users and contexts. Their tactile and deformable properties enable forms of interaction that differ from conventional rigid or screen-based controllers and may offer inclusive possibilities in particular settings.
Objective:
This paper presents HarmonicThreads as a formative interaction-design case of a fabric-based digital musical instrument. The prototype explores how tactile cues, fabric deformation, projected visual feedback, and assisted accompaniment can support low-barrier …

Court denied landlord's motion to amend petition and granted tenant's cross-motion to dismiss in GCEL holdover. Petition contained contradictory GCEL allegations. Proposed amended petition failed to disclose landlord's direct and indirect ownership interests in other residential real property as required by RPAPL § 741(5-b). Court makes summary determination under CPLR 409(b) dismissing petition without prejudice.

All Decisions
Court grants tenant's pre-answer motion to dismiss illegal sublet holdover for failure to state a cause of action under CPLR 3211(a)(7). Predicate notices failed to allege facts constituting illegal subletting — no allegation of subleasing agreement or rent payments to occupants. Court analyzed RPL § 235-f 'roommate law' and found extended family members (spouse, children, siblings-in-law, niece) were lawful occupants. Predicate notices cannot be amended.
