Synthesizing And Scoring Operational Process Graphs From Unstructured Documents, Hariprasad Rengarajan, Bhasha Agrawal, Kunal Kaul, Rahul Jindal
Defensive Publications Series
Mapping complex operational workflows across isolated, unstructured procedural articles is difficult for traditional process mining or graph extraction tools. Disclosed systems and methods implement a multi-stage deterministic pipeline to transform unstructured documents into a canonical, cycle-condensed directed acyclic graph (DAG). The system performs a single linear pass to extract a structured state contract formalizing procedural inputs and outputs for each document. An inverted index maps producer document outputs to consumer document inputs to synthesize the directed graph. The resulting graph and constituent nodes are processed to condense procedural cycles and evaluated via quantitative scoring models to identify operational bottlenecks, protect …

Geometry-Conditioned Synthesis Of First-Person Visual Navigation Previews, D Shin
Defensive Publications Series
Systems and methods are described that can generate a predictive, first-person visual preview of a navigation route. A technique can involve conditioning a generative video synthesis framework with structured data, such as geometric and semantic information. This data, which may include three-dimensional pose graphs, depth information, and building footprints, can be used to constrain the synthesis to a physically plausible path. This approach can produce a topologically consistent preview that may be synchronized to a user's pace on a computing device (e.g., a smartphone, smart watch, or augmented reality glasses). The system can also render current conditions, like weather, and …
Constraint-Preserving Rail Aggregation For Routing And Spectrum Assignment In Multi-Fiber Optical Networks, Anonymous
Defensive Publications Series
A path computation method is described for optical networks in which adjacent nodes are joined by two or more parallel fiber pairs, called rails. Parallel rails are collapsed into an aggregate edge only where a node connectivity matrix certifies that the grouped rails are interchangeable for the ingress to egress transition at issue. Routing runs on the collapsed graph, and the aggregate is expanded into constraint-consistent subsets only along selected candidate routes and only at constrained nodes, partial connectivity being one such constraint. The resulting section path is feasible by construction, is validated for optical feasibility once per section rather …

Apodized Chirped Cladding Grating For Uniform Thermal Load Distribution In High-Power Fiber Lasers (Mitigating Transverse Mode Instability), Yoel Shimo Arieli
Defensive Publications Series
A pump-coupling architecture is disclosed for high-power cladding-pumped fiber lasers to mitigate transverse mode instability (TMI) by flattening the longitudinal heat load. A continuous, longitudinally distributed diffraction grating is formed along the full pumped length of the outer surface of the inner cladding of a double-clad fiber, rather than at a single coupling point. Pump light launched at one end into the outer cladding is progressively coupled into the inner cladding. The local coupling coefficient A(z) is derived analytically by solving an inverse thermal-design problem: a target heat-generation profile is prescribed, here a spatially uniform one, and the required coupling …

Noise-Perturbed Federated Learning For Synthetic Wearable Health Monitoring: A Reproducible Multi-Seed Evaluation, Billel Essaid
Mesopotamian Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare
Federated learning (FL) keeps wearable records local, but shared updates can still disclose participant information. This study evaluates an auditable noise-perturbed FL pipeline for synthetic wearable risk monitoring and examines how client-side clipping, central Gaussian perturbation, participant-held-out validation, and two empirical privacy attacks behave across repeated cohorts. Twelve independently generated cohorts (24 participants; 5,760 half-hour windows each) were analyzed with matched-exposure centralized logistic regression, FedAvg, clipped FedAvg, and clipped-plus-noise FedAvg using 16/4/4 participant train/validation/test splits. Uncertainty was estimated with a two-stage hierarchical bootstrap that preserves each seed's validation-selected threshold. The clipped-plus-noise model achieved mean AUROC 0.903 (95% CI 0.867–0.913), AUPRC …

Bulk gallium nitride (GaN) substrates with controlled electrical compensation and doping are foundational materials for high-power electronics, optoelectronics, and emerging spintronic devices. Despite extensive studies on epitaxial GaN thin films, a complete and correlated understanding of crystal, phonon, free-carrier, birefringence, optical, and disorder-driven processes in high-quality bulk GaN crystals remains limited. In this work, a comprehensive temperature-dependent (25–300 °C) investigation of free-standing bulk undoped, Fe-doped, and Ge-doped GaN substrates using Raman spectroscopy, spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE), and atomic force microscopy (AFM) has been presented. A detailed analysis of phonon evolution, apparent Raman-shift-derived biaxial stress and in-plane strain, longitudinal optical phonon–plasmon coupling …

Integrating Imperfect Cross-Domain Segmentation Maps Into Dental Radiograph Classification: Robustness Of Soft Probability Weighting Versus Hard Masking, Raed Bulbul, Mohammed Alhanjouri
Mesopotamian Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare
Tooth segmentation maps transferred across dental radiograph datasets are imperfect, and the way they are integrated into a diagnostic classifier determines whether their errors reach the dental diagnosis. This study quantifies such errors on external panoramic radiographs and compares hard masking with soft probability weighting for tooth-level classification of dental pathology. A U-Net and a conditional diffusion model were trained on STS-2D-Tooth and frozen; the diffusion model refined the U-Net probability map in six image-conditioned denoising steps. On two independent external datasets from Bangladesh (319 radiographs) and Tunisia (59 radiographs), U-Net maps reached Dice 0.787 and 0.871, and 73% and …

Main Findings
Led by the political commissar with the commanding officer serving as deputy, party committees are responsible for major decision-making, maintaining party control, training, and general leadership aboard People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) submarines. While Chinese sources extoll this collective leadership model, it is unclear how this command structure influences decision-making efficacy in practice.
PLAN political officers play a critical role in the leadership and decision making on PLAN submarines, but reportedly lack understanding of submarine operations. Despite attempts to improve the operational competency of political officers, this likely remains a problem for the PLAN submarine force.
