Considering that neonatal pain is a relevant matter given its implications and consequences, many neonates, particularly those undergoing critical care, are subjected to analgo-sedation therapies, which commonly include treatment with opioids and benzodiazepines. These drugs, however, can induce tolerance and dependency, leading to the development of the so-called iatrogenic withdrawal syndrome (IWS) which is observed following discontinuation of these therapeutic agents particularly when utilized for a prolonged period of time (>= 5 days). The increasing urgency of climate change, biodiversity loss, and socio-economic transition has generated growing interest in tourism approaches that move beyond sustainability towards more transformative forms of development. While sustainable tourism has become the dominant paradigm within tourism planning and policy, it has been criticised for its emphasis on impact mitigation and its limited capacity to address systemic challenges. In response, regenerative tourism has emerged as an alternative framework that seeks to restore and enhance ecological, social, cultural, and economic systems through tourism activity.

Transdermal delivery of high-molecular-weight proteins is challenging because of their large molecular size and hydrophilicity, and the barrier properties of the stratum corneum. We report a hydrated ionic liquid-in-oil (HIL/O) microemulsion for transdermal delivery of high-molecular-weight proteins. A biocompatible ionic liquid (IL) composed of cholinium cation and propionate anion, optimized at 45 wt% hydration, was developed as a protein-compatible solubilization medium that dissolved ovalbumin (molecular mass ∼ 45 kDa) and bovine serum albumin (molecular mass ∼ 66 kDa), whereas lower hydration levels were insufficient for effective protein dissolution. Microsatellite instability (MSI) is a key biomarker of mismatch repair deficiency and response to immunotherapy, yet most existing genomic detection methods are optimized for short-read sequencing and rely on a panel of homopolymer markers, limiting the ability to characterize genome-wide and motif-specific patterns of instability. Here we present Owl, a bioinformatic tool for quantifying MSI from long-read (PacBio) genomic data. Owl leverages a genome-wide marker set of more than 140,000 microsatellite repeats ranging from 1-6 bp in length to measure MSI across a phased genome. Irrigation guidelines are needed for the field production of emerging specialty crops to support the sustainability and economic viability of small farms. The goal of this study was to establish crop coefficients (K_c) of dahlia (Dahlia × hybrida), a popular, profitable cut flower crop, while documenting virus infection. A two-year field study was conducted with two industry-important cultivars that vary in production timing and bloom: ‘Boom Boom White’, an earlier and mid-sized formal decorative, and ‘Café au Lait’, a later and large informal decorative bloom type. Respiratory processes are increasingly implicated in shaping neural activity and behavior. Recent studies have reported a coupling between respiratory phase and the cortical readiness potential (RP), suggesting that breathing may modulate the neural processes preceding voluntary action. Here, using electroencephalography recordings in humans, we re-examine this claim using the original dataset and a new independent dataset, as well as in simulated data with no coupling. We show that the reported association arises from a confound: both RP amplitude and respiratory phase are coupled to movement onset. The original analysis does not control for this dependency, leading to a spurious effect …

The synthesis of silver nanoparticles through a green chemistry approach is increasingly in demand because it is environmentally friendly, easy to do, and efficient, especially for the purpose of antimicrobial active ingredients in disinfectant and antiseptic formulas. Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles can be carried out using silver nitrate as a silver precursor and plant extracts as a source of bioreductants and capping agents. This article shares insights from a professional study tour of Danish early childhood education programmes, examining how social pedagogical principles are embedded in outdoor learning environments. During June 2024, a group of early childhood teacher educators from the United States visited forest kindergartens, adventure playgrounds and natural playscapes in Denmark as participants in the Nordic Outdoor Model of Education study tour. Through guided visits and observations, we documented pedagogical practices that demonstrate the application of social pedagogy– particularly the integration of head, heart and hands in supporting children’s holistic development. Introduction: This study sought to assess how graduates of Wallace Community College's paramedic program impacted their readiness for the NREMT Paramedic examination and entering the workforce, specifically comparing those who completed an associate degree to those who completed the certificate program. Methods: This qualitative study analyzed the perspectives of graduates from the paramedic program using a phenomenological approach. Using a purposive sampling technique, nine graduates were chosen for one-on-one interviews, and six were selected for a focus group.
