The present study was conducted to verify the oxidative stress status in asthma patients . To achieve this aim, ninty asthmatic patients, and thirty healthy subjects (control group) were subjected to the study the sample were obatained from Babylon Asthma and Allergy Center in Hilla City .. showed The results of this study in asthmatic patients (men and menopause women ) with steroid inhalation treatment group when compared with control group showed a significant increase of Malondialdehyde (MDA) ,amd a significant decrease of super oxidase dismutase (SOD) and creatine kinase(CK) levels (P < 0.05 ) , wherease there was non significant increase in glutathione-S-transferase (GST), levels( P < 0.05) . The results of this study for asthmatic patients (men and menopause women ) with steroid inhalation treatment group when compared with asthmatic patients without treatment indicated a significant increasing levels of super oxidase dismutase (SOD) (SOD) , glutathione-S-transferase (GST) of men (P < 0.05) , whereas there was a non significant increase in levels of creatine kinase(CK), glutathione-S-transferase (GST) of menopause women(P<0.05) but there was significant decrease in malondialdehyde (MDA) levels. In asthmatic patients (men and menopause women ) without treatment group when compared with those of control group estimated significant decrease of super oxidase dismutase (SOD) (SOD) and creatine kinase(CK) level ( P < 0.05) , wherease there was a non significant increase in GST but there was a significant increase in malondialdehyde (MDA) levels ,( P < 0.05) . The correlation analysis indicated a non significant negative correlation in period of treatment with superoxide dismutase (SOD) and creatine kinase(CK) , as well as a non significant positive correlation for glutathione-S-transferase (GST) and malondialdehyde (MDA) .

Al-Qadisiyah Medical Journal
The present study showed that the gentamicin cause a mild effect to the proximal convoluted tubules at dose of 5 mg/kg for 14 days represented by loss of brush border. Vacuoles of various sizes appeared with flattening and dilatation of the tubules, condensation of nuclear chromatin was observed, with partial detachment of the cells from the basement membrane. In comparison the more clear effect of gentamicin appears at 10 mg/kg dose that included loss of apical surface and detachment of cells from the basement membrane, with nearly complete loss of brush border and increase in number & size of the …

Crab, a kind of marine animal that has a unique status in evolution, has many bioactive substances with special functions. In the present study, we investigated the antitumor effects of four different extracts derived from crab shell (aqueous and methanolic extracts of burned and normal crab shell powder). Aqueous and methanolic extracts of burned crab shell powder were shown to be cytotoxic and inhibit the in vitro proliferation of human laryngeal carcinoma tumor cell lines (Hep-2) and human Rhabdomyosarcoma cell line (RD) and one murine mammary adenocarcinoma tumor cell line (AMN3), in dose and time dependant manner. These results suggest …

Al-Qadisiyah Medical Journal
A stereological study of a (middle piece) of ductus epididymis between normal adult human, bulls, rams, goats and buffalos was conducted using routine histological techniques. The following stereological parameters were determined; Stereocilia height, epithelial height, muscular wall thickness, lumen and tube diameters. The human epididymal stereocilia height is shorter than in goat only and higher than bulls and goats in both the epithelial height and muscular wall thickness. Human ductile diameter is smaller than in other animals. In conclusion, all human epididymal mid piece parameters in the present study differ significantly than in the other animals. Because human epididymis differs …

Al-Qadisiyah Medical Journal
Background: Otitis Media (OM) is an inflammation of the middle ear drum and the inner ear, including a duct known as the eustachian tube. Otitis media is very common in children. Over 60 percent of the cases of otitis media are caused by bacteria. Urinary tract infection(UTI) refer to the presence of microbial pathogens within the urinary tract. A urinary tract infection is a condition where one or more structures in the urinary tract becomes infected after bacteria overcome its strong natural defenses. In spite of these defenses, urinary tract infections are the most common of all infections and can …

Overexpression Of Mammaglobin In Tissue Breast Carcinoma By Immunohistochemistry, Shoroq Mohammad Abbas
Al-Qadisiyah Medical Journal
Our purpose was to investigate the mammaglobin overexpression in tissue breast cancer and to determine its correlations with conventional prognostic parameters. There were investigated 60 patients with breast carcinoma, and slides from paraffin blocks were stained with an antibody against mammaglobin. The immunohistochemical reaction was scored based on the percentage of positive tumor cells in tumors. Positive reaction for mammaglobin was diffused cytoplasmic staining foundin 75% of tissue breast carcinoma. A significant correlation was found between the mammaglobin expression in the breast cancer and grades of the tumor. Out results suggest that mammaglobin is a good prognostic marker forbreast carcinomaAim …

This study was performed to determine the effects of Evening primrose oil (EPO) on haemostatic parameters following 30 and 60 days administration of 90 mg/kg (EPO) to healthy male rabbits. The laboratory resulting in significant increase in Prothrombin time (PT), activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT) assays (p<0.01), platelets count significantly decreased (p<0.01) at both times. While fibrinogen concentration are insignificantly decreased. These effects might be due to inactivation or inhibition of factors affecting coagulation.

A total of 125sera were collected from miscarriages women and healthy as control group. Latex agglutination test (LAT) and Enzyme linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) were used to assess the presence of specific antibodies against T.gondii and CMV. 65(43&22) were positive for anti-Toxoplasma antibody. While 74 sera, (54 & 20) were positive for anti-CMV IgG and IgM antibodies respectively.and healthy as control group. Swine Flu is a respiratory illness of pigs caused by type A H1N1 influenza viruses that cause regular outbreaks in pigs, while Swine Flu viruses normally do not infect human, the disease that has spread lastly to human, is a version of this virus, it was first identified in Mexico at April 2009,people have full resistance against it, so a cross-sectional study was conducted on 126 randomly selected paramedicals serving in ten different PHCCs in Baghdad, to find out their knowledge and awareness towards Swine Flu. Data was collected by using previously structured questionnaires including 23 statements concerning the knowledge …

This study was conducted to estimate the overexpression of HER- 2\neu protein in human breast carcinoma in comparison to benign breast lesions and to show its possible correlation to the pathological parameters (histological type, grade and age). We evaluated the available tissue blocks of 50 patients with breast lesions (38 with invasive ductal carcinoma & 5 cases with fibroadenoma , 5 cases with fibrocystic disease & 2 cases with normal tissue) who had referred to Al-diwaniya Hospital between January 2007 and December 2010 All cases were female. The mean age of the patients was 55 years (range, 33 to 77 …

Although the rapid advance in the understanding of molecular pathways underlying human tumorigenesis causes that initiate dysregulation of the pathways remain largely unknown. Human cytomegalovirus has been shown to transform cultured cells, however, viral DNA is not detected in most transforming cells, and the mechanism by which HCMV might contribute to oncogenesis has remained obscure. For further investigation of HCMV role in human colorectal tumorigenesis, we have tested 13 specimens of colorectal adenocarcinoma & 5 specimens of villous adenoma using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) techniques. The results of PCR assay showed specific single band in 9 of 13 specimens (69.23%) …
