A load-aware planning system is proposed herein for agentic artificial intelligence (AI) workflows that may amplify a single request into many subtasks, model calls, tool invocations, and agent-to-agent interactions. The system uses a Load-State Registry to obtain a unified view of current load, a Load-Aware Planner to select among Detailed, Balanced, Lightweight, Partial, Deferred, or Fallback plans, Plan Pivoting to adapt a plan when conditions change, and a Plan Decision Store to record the reasoning and audit trail. By selecting how much work to create before execution and adapting the plan during execution, the system addresses concurrent-load conditions that can …

In this rent overcharge action, tenants moved for summary judgment declaring their apartments rent stabilized and establishing the frozen legal regulated rent. App Div 1st affirmed. The landlord's claimed pre-HSTPA high-rent vacancy deregulation based on IAIs failed because landlord submitted no invoices, contracts, or checks specific to the affected apartment and no testimony tying renovation records to the unit. Landlord therefore failed to establish sufficiently costly improvements to support deregulation. Under RSL § 26-517(e) and RSC § 2528.4(a), the legal regulated rent is frozen at the last reliable DHCR-registered stabilized rent until landlord complies with registration requirements.
The Verney Family And Their Guitars In France And England, 1643–53, Christopher Page
The Verney Family And Their Guitars In France And England, 1643–53, Christopher Page
Soundboard Scholar
The five-course guitar was a fundamental resource for the Verney family from 1643 to 1653 as they sheltered in France, avoiding their creditors and escaping the state of civil war at home in England. Their papers from that period, comprising many thousands of letters and financial accounts, show them hiring a guitar-master, ordering new guitars in Paris and debating the relative benefits of lessons for their eldest son on the guitar as opposed to the lute. This article reproduces the key documents and considers the music that the Verneys may have played. The papers particularly show how an instrument often …

The Relationship Between Outdoor Recreation, Menopausal Symptoms, And Overall Well-Being, Heather Flock
Doctorate in Kinesiology
Menopause is associated with physical, psychological, and vasomotor symptoms that can affect women’s health, quality of life, and participation in physical activity. Although physical activity has been widely recommended for managing health during menopause, the relationship between outdoor recreation, menopausal symptoms, and overall well-being has remained underexplored. This cross-sectional mixed-methods study examined the relationship between outdoor recreation participation, menopausal symptoms, and well-being while identifying barriers to participation and recommendations for recreation programming. Fifteen menopausal women completed the Greene Climacteric Scale (GCS) and participated in focus groups addressing outdoor recreation experiences, barriers, motivations, and perceived well-being. Quantitative data were analyzed using …

New And Emerging Drug Therapy In Primary Open-Angle And Normal-Tension Glaucoma: Pharmacology, Neuroprotection And The Endpoint Problem, Stephanie Mroczkowska, Leanne Smewing, Doina Gherghel
School of Health Professions
Glaucoma is a group of progressive optic neuropathies characterized by retinal ganglion cell (RGC) loss, optic nerve head damage and corresponding visual-field loss. Intraocular pressure (IOP) is the principal modifiable risk factor, and lowering IOP remains the only treatment approach that has been shown in randomized clinical trials to slow glaucomatous progression, including in normal-tension glaucoma (NTG). However, IOP reduction does not eliminate progression in all patients, indicating that susceptibility to pressure-related damage is heterogeneous and that additional biological mechanisms are relevant. This review examines current and emerging pharmacological strategies for IOP lowering, approaches intended to protect RGCs independently of …

Market Trends And Challenges For Alabama's Emerging Oyster Aquaculture Industry, Taryn M. Garlock, Quinn Lafontaine, Russell Grice, Andrea M. Tarnecki
Journal of Extension
Different marketing channels influence farm profitability by affecting the costs that producers incur and the prices they receive. This article quantifies oyster sales volume and price by market channel in Alabama's commercial oyster aquaculture sector and assesses challenges to expanding farm businesses. The results show that many oyster producers are selling exclusively through one channel, which raises questions about their resiliency and their capacity to adapt to a dynamic single market. The two most common market channels were processors and distributors. Most growers had a positive outlook on sales growth and showed the greatest interest in expanding sales to distributors, …

Muscle declines are becoming more prevalent in younger adults, driving the need for accessible exercise programs. The Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) Extension program was developed for adults 60 years old or older, but for this study, we enrolled 135 participants aged less than 60 years old in rural and urban counties to assess if it could improve their muscle performance. We analyzed data with time and group comparisons using paired t-tests and 2 × 2 repeated measures ANOVAs. Younger adults significantly improved muscle performance after SSSH, and the results were similar between rural and urban counties. This study …

Board Gender Diversity, Cultural Logics, And Corporate Tax Behaviour, Atia Hussain, Ammad Ahmed, Bao Thi Ngoc Nguyen
Board Gender Diversity, Cultural Logics, And Corporate Tax Behaviour, Atia Hussain, Ammad Ahmed, Bao Thi Ngoc Nguyen
All Works
Corporate tax aggressiveness tests corporate accountability, yet less is known about when board gender diversity translates into more restrained tax behaviour across institutional settings. Using 27,275 firm-year observations from 29 countries across Europe, Asia, and Australasia during 2013–2023, we examine whether board gender diversity is associated with lower tax aggressiveness and whether national culture conditions this association. Board gender diversity is negatively associated with tax aggressiveness: greater female board representation is associated with higher cash effective tax rates and more restrained tax behaviour. This association is stronger in high masculinity, uncertainty avoidance, and long-term orientation settings, but weaker in high …

Life Cycle Assessment Of Emerging Battery Technologies- A Comparative Review Of Sodium-Ion, Zinc-Air, And Aluminum-Ion Systems, Abdulmonem Fetyan, Zishan Shaikh, Syed Nasir Shah, Mohamed Adel Allam, Hemant Mittal, Ahmer A.B. Baloch
All Works
The accelerating global demand for sustainable energy storage solutions has heightened interest in alternative battery chemistries beyond lithium-ion. This review presents a comprehensive comparative analysis of life cycle assessment (LCA) studies on three emerging battery technologies: sodium-ion, zinc-air, and aluminum-ion. By systematically examining peer-reviewed literature published between 2010 and 2025, we evaluate the environmental performance of these chemistries across key life-cycle stages, from raw material extraction to end-of-life treatment. The review employs bibliometric mapping to identify thematic trends and methodological patterns, including system boundaries, functional units, and impact assessment approaches. Sodium-ion batteries show promise due to material abundance and moderate …
The Irkutsk Incident: A Warning And Wake-Up Call For Biosecurity And The Btwc, James Giordano
The Irkutsk Incident: A Warning And Wake-Up Call For Biosecurity And The Btwc, James Giordano
Strategic Insights
The recent Irkutsk incident in Russia highlights critical challenges in global biosecurity, biosurveillance, and the verification of potentially high-risk biological activities. Although the circumstances surrounding the incident remain uncertain, it highlights the difficulty of distinguishing natural disease outbreaks, laboratory accidents, legitimate dual-use research, and potentially prohibited biological activities. Dr. Giordano argues that advances in biotechnology, synthetic biology, gene editing, and artificial intelligence (AI) are outpacing existing biosafety standards and international oversight mechanisms. He advocates a more comprehensive, process-aware approach to biological risk assessment that considers experimental procedures, enabling technologies, potential biological changes, and consequences of failure. The article outlines recommendations …

Good News! Students With Disabilities Are Overrepresented In Private School Choice Programs, Patrick J. Wolf, John Kristof, Alex Wolf, Alli Aldis
Education Reform Faculty and Graduate Students Publications
- Critics predicted that, once private school choice was implemented on a large scale, students with disabilities would become highly concentrated in the public school system. That hasn’t happened.
- We conservatively estimate that 258,844 students with disabilities are participating in private school choice programs.
- Students with disabilities are being served in the private school choice sector at a rate higher than that in the public school sector.
- Private school choice programs provide important educational options for many students with disabilities, helping ensure they can access the education that best meets their needs.

Carpet Viper (Echis Romani) Envenoming In Nigeria: Ecology, Venom Pathophysiology, Clinical Burden And Health-System Determinants, Godpower Chinedu Michael, Auwal A. Bala
Human Genetics Publications
Purpose of review: The carpet viper (Echis romani, recently separated from E. ocellatus) accounts for at least 66% of confirmed snakebite envenomings in the Nigerian savanna. Despite this, continental hazard modeling ranks it second in Nigeria. It is smaller and not necessarily more venomous per bite than the puff adder (Bitis arietans) or the black-necked spitting cobra (Naja nigricollis). This review synthesizes evidence on the ecology, venom effects, clinical impact, and health-system factors of carpet viper envenoming in Nigeria, including its effects on livestock and One Health considerations.
Recent findings: The risk of snakebite is influenced by multiple factors beyond …

Institute for Veterans and Military Families
The September 2026 veteran employment report shows that veteran unemployment increased slightly from 3.4% in August to 3.5% in September, while post-9/11 veteran unemployment rose from 3.5% to 4.1%. National labor market conditions remained relatively stable, with little change in overall employment and unemployment. The most significant concern was among younger veterans ages 18 to 24, whose unemployment rate increased sharply to 23.8%. Female veteran unemployment also rose substantially, reaching 6.1%, while male veteran unemployment declined to 3.0%. Unemployment rates varied across demographic groups, though many veteran populations continued to experience employment outcomes comparable to or better than nonveterans. Duration …
