Relationship Between Children’S Screen Exposure And Stress Among Parents Of Primary School Children, Malathi S, Koteeswari Arumugam, Sugasini R, Senthil Selvam, Manju B. Manoharan

Internet Journal of Allied Health Sciences and Practice

Purpose: The increasing use of digital devices among children has raised concerns regarding their potential impact on child well-being and family functioning. Prolonged screen exposure has been linked to behavioural issues, sleep disturbances, reduced physical activity, and psychosocial difficulties, which may contribute to increased parenting-related stress. However, limited research has explored the relationship between children’s screen exposure and parental stress. This study aimed to examine the association between children’s screen exposure and parental stress among parents of primary school children. Method: A cross-sectional correlational study was conducted among 45 parents of primary school children aged 6–12 years enrolled at Vels …

Internet Journal of Allied Health Sciences and Practice

Purpose: The purpose of this pilot study was to examine whether an occupational therapist (OT) led stress reduction intervention, implemented as part of an interprofessional education initiative, could be integrated into a mass casualty simulation and whether it was effective in reducing self-reported stress among healthcare students. Methods: A cross-sectional mixed methods design was used following an interdisciplinary mass casualty simulation involving first-year Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) and Physician Assistant (PA) students (N=190). After a standard educational debriefing, participants engaged in a 25-minute OT-led stress reduction session consisting of structured, activity-based strategies. A retrospective pretest survey administered …

Use Of Simulation In Interprofessional Education In U.S. Physical Therapist Programs: A Multiple Case Study, Sarah Ross Sep 2026

Use Of Simulation In Interprofessional Education In U.S. Physical Therapist Programs: A Multiple Case Study, Sarah Ross

Internet Journal of Allied Health Sciences and Practice

Purpose: Interprofessional education (IPE) is a cornerstone of healthcare professional education, facilitating professions learning about and with each other. Simulation-based learning (SBL) is teaching and learning modality that is frequently used to incorporate IPE into curricula. Current research shows that physical therapist (PT) education programs are increasingly using SBL for IPE purposes. However, there is little research outlining how programs are using simulation.

Method: The data in this study were pulled from a larger qualitative study looking at how US PT programs use simulation because of the heavy emphasis on IPE. Three programs were selected from a pool of volunteers …

A Survey Of Medical Coverage In The Marching Arts, Stephanie Maszera, Luis Torres, Fredrick A. Gardin Sep 2026

A Survey Of Medical Coverage In The Marching Arts, Stephanie Maszera, Luis Torres, Fredrick A. Gardin

Internet Journal of Allied Health Sciences and Practice

PURPOSE: This research aimed to identify how the marching arts’ access to medical coverage affects an individual’s success in the activity. Medical coverage in the marching arts varies greatly between the levels that exist within the activity. Marching bands’ physical demands rival traditional sports, with a longer season and fewer resources. Despite the lack of coverage, the incidence of injury remains a challenge for competing groups. METHODS: A survey was conducted to ask individuals about their experiences with their band’s medical staff and any injuries or conditions they may have dealt with. Participants were at least 18 years old and …

Examining The Influence Of Cognitive Load And Self-Efficacy On The Development Of Clinical Reasoning In The First Clinical Education Experience Of First Year Physical Therapy Students, Andrew S. Bartlett, Brittney Gunterstockman

Internet Journal of Allied Health Sciences and Practice

Purpose: Clinical reasoning is critical for effective decision-making and patient outcomes in physical therapy. Although self-efficacy, cognitive load, and clinical reasoning have been studied individually, limited research has examined these constructs holistically. This study explored the influence of cognitive load and self-efficacy on the development of clinical reasoning during the first clinical education experience of first-year Doctor of Physical Therapy students using a think-aloud protocol. Methods: All participants completed measures of self-efficacy (New General Self-Efficacy [NGSE], Physical Therapist Self-Efficacy [PTSE]) and cognitive load (intrinsic, extraneous, germane) before and after their first clinical education experience. Think-aloud protocols were conducted at …

Beyond Tuition: Understanding The Financial Impact Of Full-Time Clinical Education On Doctor Of Physical Therapy Students, Michelle L. Donahue

Internet Journal of Allied Health Sciences and Practice

Purpose: The physical therapy literature has explored the cost and affordability of a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) education; however, academic and clinical educators may lack a nuanced understanding of the costs students incur to complete their full-time Clinical Education (CE) experiences. This study explored expenses beyond course credits during a full-time CE experience. As this was the first exploratory study on this topic, the aim was to gather information from a diverse sample of participants about the costs associated with a CE experience and the perceived financial burden. Method: A survey was developed and administered to collect quantitative and …

The Impact Of Social Expectations And Gender Norms On Women Leaders' Marital And Partner Relationships And Their Influence On Workplace Outcomes, Hedi Kovacs-Resnik Sep 2026

The Impact Of Social Expectations And Gender Norms On Women Leaders' Marital And Partner Relationships And Their Influence On Workplace Outcomes, Hedi Kovacs-Resnik

Economic and Business Review

Leadership sustainability among women remains insufficiently explained in leadership research, as dominant models prioritise workplace factors, neglecting the role of private-life demands. This research explored how social expectations and gender norms influence women's private lives and how the emotional impact spills over into their leadership style and performance, thereby influencing their career progression. Using a qualitative design and thematic analysis of 18 interviews with women in leadership roles, the research examined what it means to lead while also navigating family and relationships.
The findings revealed that the boundaries between women's private and professional lives are almost nonexistent. Professional success often …

When Loyalty Intentions Fail: Evidence On The Intention–Behaviour Gap And Customer Retention In Mobile Telecommunications, Danilo Tomšič Sep 2026

When Loyalty Intentions Fail: Evidence On The Intention–Behaviour Gap And Customer Retention In Mobile Telecommunications, Danilo Tomšič

Economic and Business Review

This paper quantifies and explains the consumer intention–behaviour gap in mobile telecommunications and shows how it matters for competitive resource allocation. Using a two-wave longitudinal survey of 4887 consumers, I compare stated switching intentions at time t with self-reported provider choice at t + 1 and identify a 15.4% divergence comprising two forms: nonswitching intenders (consumers who intended to switch but did not) and switching nonintenders (consumers who did not intend to switch but did). Binary logistic models reveal temporal asymmetry in determinants. Among nonswitching intenders, higher baseline loyalty (satisfaction, repeat-choice commitment, and recommendation intention) lowers the likelihood of remaining …

Beyond Adoption: How Technology–Organization–Environment Factors Shape The Use Of Social Media Technologies And Performance In B2b Companies, Peter Grabner, Barbara Čater Sep 2026

Beyond Adoption: How Technology–Organization–Environment Factors Shape The Use Of Social Media Technologies And Performance In B2b Companies, Peter Grabner, Barbara Čater

Economic and Business Review

This study examines how technological, organizational, and environmental factors shape social media technology (SMT) use in business-to-business (B2B) markets and how SMT use relates to customer relationship performance and marketing performance. Building on the technology–organization–environment (TOE) framework, we develop and test a structural model in which perceived simplicity of SMT (technology), SMT strategy (organization), and mimetic competitive pressure (environment) shape SMT use, which in turn affects customer relationship and marketing performance. We collected data with an online survey of 195 marketing and sales professionals from B2B companies in Slovenia. Results indicate that SMT strategy is the strongest predictor of SMT …

Adaptive Homeostasis: A Strategy For Preserving Stability And Generative Capacity Under Uncertainty, Volodymyr Kotegov Sep 2026

Adaptive Homeostasis: A Strategy For Preserving Stability And Generative Capacity Under Uncertainty, Volodymyr Kotegov

Defensive Publications Series

This document offers a practical framework of priorities and working tools for people confronting a shrinking planning horizon, the declining value of conventional educational and professional pathways, rising psychophysical exhaustion, and a loss of coherent direction.

The strategy addresses two related tasks. The first is to protect psychological and physical health, secure basic material stability, and maintain the capacity for clear thinking. The second is to sustain generative capacity—the ability to produce non-trivial observations, hypotheses, and life trajectories. Generativity is treated first and foremost as a present-day resource. It supports a sense of meaning, adaptability, and psychological resilience. Secondarily, it …

Revisiting The Secretary Problem, Steven J. Brams, D. Marc Kilgour Sep 2026

Revisiting The Secretary Problem, Steven J. Brams, D. Marc Kilgour

The Mathematics Enthusiast

The venerable Secretary Problem asks how a decision maker (DM) should select one of n candidates, who come up randomly, when the only information available is each candidate’s strict rank within the set of previous applicants. Moreover, DM may select only the current candidate. Our illustrative case has n = 9 candidates, for which the Standard Method is to reject outright the first 3 candidates and then choose the first of the 4th through 8th candidates who is better than all of the first three, or the 9th candidate if none of them is. We compare the Standard Method with …

The Pickleball Opportunity: A Case Study To Evaluate The Market Demand And Feasibility Of Opening A Private Pickleball Facility, Dene Williamson, Janet Jones

Global Sport Business Journal

This case study explores the market demand and financial feasibility of opening a privately owned, indoor pickleball facility in Warrensburg, Missouri. The central character, Mr. Dink, returns to his rural hometown with the goal of building a community-centric recreational space centered around America’s fastest-growing sport—pickleball. Students are asked to evaluate the business opportunity through comprehensive market research, financial forecasting, and risk assessment. Drawing from comparative data provided by an established facility in Florida, the case challenges students to adapt proven strategies to a smaller, lower-cost market. The case provides a platform to practice feasibility analysis, pricing strategy, break-even modeling, marketing, …

(Wp 2026-04) The Concept Of Position And Its Ontological Meaning In The History Of Economics, John B. Davis Sep 2026

(Wp 2026-04) The Concept Of Position And Its Ontological Meaning In The History Of Economics, John B. Davis

Economics Working Papers

This paper examines the concept of relative position in the history of economics understood as ‘being in a position’ in a structure of positions. This is first discussed in macro-distributional terms in connection with Ricardo and Marx and in micro-behavioral terms in connection with Du Bois and Veblen. The paper then discusses two recent approaches in economics that employ the concept of relative position in a combined macro-micro analysis: the capability approach and stratification economics. For explicitly ontological analysis of the concept, the paper compares three different interpretative strategies from outside economics: Cambridge social positioning theory, embodied and distributed cognition …

The Vanishing Voice: Juror Disenfranchisement In Capital Cases And The Erosion Of Constitutional Protections, Yacenda Hudson Sep 2026

The Vanishing Voice: Juror Disenfranchisement In Capital Cases And The Erosion Of Constitutional Protections, Yacenda Hudson

Michigan Journal of Race and Law

After years of battling to have an uninfringed right to vote and participate on a jury panel, the removal of the unanimity requirement for a death penalty recommendation threatens to disenfranchise minority jurors, thereby implicating the Sixth and Fourteenth Amendments. The death penalty is one of the most controversial issues in our society, and it has evolved over time. Due to a paradigm shift in beliefs, the death penalty’s constitutionality was challenged under the Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments. Pivotal legal decisions, such as Furman v. Georgia and Hurst v. Florida, required states to institute changes to the death penalty. …
