Ai And Legal Malpractice: Are We Due For A Reckoning?, John Browning
Ai And Legal Malpractice: Are We Due For A Reckoning?, John Browning
Texas A&M Law Review
As the rate of AI adoption by lawyers steadily climbs, unfortunately so has the number of incidents of AI misuse by attorneys. For some time, courts satisfied themselves with giving offending lawyers warnings, ordering them to take additional CLE, and/or administering relatively nominal monetary sanctions. Lately, however, frustrated judges throughout the country have upped the ante by not only assessing increasingly higher sanctions but also imposing case dismissals and suspensions or disciplinary referrals for the lawyers involved. As this article discusses, with their negligence exposed to the public eye and the harsh gaze of their clients, lawyers who misuse AI …

Paradoxes Of Customary Land Formalization: A Comparative Study Of Papua New Guinea And Indonesia From A Political Anthropology Perspective, Adi Prasetijo
Antropologi Indonesia
This article studies the dynamics of customary land ownership in Papua New Guinea (PNG), where approximately 97 percent of land is collectively held by clans. Drawing on insights from political anthropology—particularly normative pluralism (Griffiths, 1986; von Benda-Beckmann, 2006), Polanyi's double movement (Filer, 2014), along with cosmological perspectives on land and identity (Weiner & Glaskin, 2007; Ingold, 2021), it analyzes how government efforts to formalize customary land through the Land Act 1996 and the Incorporated Land Groups (ILG) Act 2009 generate three principal paradoxes: (1) protection versus exclusion, (2) recognition versus commodification, and (3) negotiation versus rigidity. The study blends an …

Neurodegenerative disease is marked not just by loss of proteins or cells, but by dynamic rewiring of macromolecular interaction networks that precede and drive pathology. Here, we present a temporally resolved, systems-scale map of multi-protein complex remodeling in a tauopathy model, integrating co-fractionation mass spectrometry, quantitative phosphoproteomics, and machine learning to decode phosphorylation-dependent shifts in protein interactomes across disease progression. This interactomic atlas serves as a resource to investigate functional assemblies, including MAPT-Dpysl2 and Cyfip1-actin, as well as ptk2b-Kars/Dars and ptk2b-Msn-Farsb-complexes, that modulate early disease phenotypes in vivo. Notably, it captures the composition, dynamics, and regulatory state of protein complexes …
Individual And Community-Level Trauma And Resiliency From Tornadoes, Taylor M. Guerin
Individual And Community-Level Trauma And Resiliency From Tornadoes, Taylor M. Guerin
Master of Arts in Human Services
This research paper’s goal was to examine the extent and impact of tornado-related PTSD on individual and community levels in relation to factors such as property damage, mass displacement, cumulative trauma, and seasonal retraumatization. The United States has the most tornado touchdowns globally, placing communities in supercell-prone areas, including Tornado Alley, at higher risk of repeated storm trauma that can affect emotional well-being, sense of safety, and overall financial security (Strader et al., 2024). This researcher utilized a comprehensive literature review approach to examine rates of PTSD, the long-term effects of tornado recovery, the risk of community-level trauma, and to …

Roughly a decade ago, Brunton, Proctor, and Kutz built upon the re-
sults of classical control theory, compressed sensing, and symbolic regression
to create a method for Sparse Identification of Nonlinear Dynamics (SINDy),
allowing one to infer a dynamical system from time series and bring mathe-
matical dynamics into the modern era of large data. This paper is designed for
a reader concurrently enrolled in a first course in ordinary differential equa-
tions and begins with a technical overview of least-squares regression and
finite-difference approximations to derivatives, which is enough to perform
an example hand-calculation on three data points. The …

Risk-Aware Scheduling In Distributed Systems Using Reinforcement Learning And Mined Traffic Patterns, Donia Fadil Chalob, Jaber Karimpour, Zolfaghar Salmanian
Baghdad Science Journal
Large-scale networked systems now face security threats that shift faster than fixed schedulers can follow. Conventional scheduling optimizes throughput and latency, and treats security as an afterthought. This paper takes a different approach: a reinforcement learning framework for risk-aware scheduling, with its risk signal drawn from multi-modal analysis of UNSW-NB15 traffic – statistical profiling, DBSCAN and Gaussian mixture clustering, and sequential pattern mining. The pipeline runs in two phases. First, preprocessing and feature engineering turn raw network data into usable scheduling features. Second, DQN and PPO agents learn scheduling policies under a dynamic, risk-weighted reward. The balance between security and …

Structural And Thermal Characterization Of Chitosan/Pva/Vitamin Matrices And Their Histological Impact On Cell Proliferation And Tissue Remodeling In Wound Healing, Estabraq Hasan Rashed, Hanaa Shuker Mahmood
Baghdad Science Journal
The healing of wounds is one of the complex biological processes, which involves appropriate coordination of cellular and molecular reactions and the production of innovative biomaterials turned out to be the prerequisite to enhance the efficiency of the healing process. The objective of this study was to prepare and evaluate a Vitamin A-loaded chitosan/polyvinyl alcohol (CS/PVA) biodegradable composite film for potential wound-healing applications. The composite films were fabricated by means of the 98: 2 CS/PVA mixture with various concentration of vitamin. A physicochemical characterization was done using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) …

Net primary productivity (NPP) plays a central role in biological carbon pump (BCP) and global carbon cycling, but NPP estimates in high-latitude regions remain highly uncertain despite their disproportional contribution to the global carbon sink. Previous studies identified discrepancies among satellite- and in situ-derived NPP estimates, but the drivers of disagreement remain poorly resolved due to limited high-frequency observations. Here, we present continuous depth-resolved estimates of in situ NPP from the Central Labrador Sea (56°N) in the subpolar Northwest Atlantic, reconstructed from daily bio-optical profiles collected between May and November 2016, and a 40-year dataset of photosynthesis parameters derived from …
Who Holds The Power: A Discourse Analysis Surrounding Human Trafficking, Maria Bernardo
Who Holds The Power: A Discourse Analysis Surrounding Human Trafficking, Maria Bernardo
The Compass
Narratives surrounding human trafficking in the United States have shaped public understanding through government, media, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Human trafficking is a complex global issue involving exploitation using force, fraud, or coercion for numerous purposes. Through the examination of intertextual relationships among government reports, victim narratives, and media coverage, this project aims to look at dominant narratives about human trafficking while comparing them to policy. While policy criteria describes indicators, literature argues how human trafficking is not clearly defined. A common issue in literature is the definition of a trafficked person. There is often a debate between what scholars …

Clinical Comparability Of A Computer-Based Vision Screening Platform To Snellen Acuity In A Young Adult Population, Meghan E. Garvey, Lindsey Stroop, Jacob Just, Brynn Palmer, Andrew Burchett, Donald J. Kosiak Jr
Aesculapius Journal (Health Sciences & Medicine)
Background: Military readiness depends on timely access to accurate health screening tools. The use of digital technologies for visual acuity testing may reduce bottlenecks during large-scale Physical Health Assessment (PHA) events and improve the efficiency of provider workflow. This study evaluated a computer-based vision screening (CBVS) platform against the traditional Snellen chart in a non-military, college-aged sample to assess clinical comparability and test-retest reliability.
Methods: Visual acuity was assessed in 68 college-aged adults (77.9% female, 73.5% Non-Hispanic White; mean age = 20.9 years) using both a Snellen chart and the CBVS platform, with assessments performed in randomized order to minimize …
