Aurora-Lens: Admissibility-Controlled Epistemic Governance And Maintained Unresolved State, Margaret M. Stokes Ms Sep 2026

Aurora-Lens: Admissibility-Controlled Epistemic Governance And Maintained Unresolved State, Margaret M. Stokes Ms

Defensive Publications Series

Aurora-Lens is an admissibility-controlled epistemic governance architecture for machine reasoning, runtime governance, maintained unresolved state, and commitment control. It treats a proposed determination as a candidate that does not automatically become an assertion, authorization, or consequential act. Candidate determinations are tested against maintained epistemic or world state and applicable authority, evidence, scope, freshness, policy, and consequence conditions before acquiring standing. The architecture permits unresolved state, containment, refusal, or non-commitment where the required basis is absent, and prevents retry, reroute, elapsed time, confidence, or cost from supplying missing warrant.

Thanking Strategies Across Relational Scenarios And Dyadic Gender Configurations In Urban Saudi Colloquial Arabic, Mohammed Ahmed Mohammed Alzahrani Sep 2026

Thanking Strategies Across Relational Scenarios And Dyadic Gender Configurations In Urban Saudi Colloquial Arabic, Mohammed Ahmed Mohammed Alzahrani

Scientific Journal of King Faisal University: Humanities and Management Sciences

This study examines thanking strategies across three relational scenarios and four dyadic gender configurations among 120 university-educated urban Saudi colloquial Arabic speakers aged 20-40 from Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam. A scenario-based discourse completion task (DCT) yielded 720 responses comprising 1,843 strategy tokens; these data were supplemented by interviews with 30 participants. The intimate, acquaintance, and stranger scenarios differed in favor type and imposition, representing distinct relational-situational contexts. The DCT elicited contextually appropriate responses; accordingly, the findings are interpreted as reflecting participants' sociopragmatic preferences rather than naturally occurring interactional behavior. Expressing Benediction (30.1%) and Thanking (25.7%) were the two most frequent …

A Runtime Conditioning Architecture For Persistent Language-Model Identity, Ryan B. Pate, Ivan Anic Sep 2026

A Runtime Conditioning Architecture For Persistent Language-Model Identity, Ryan B. Pate, Ivan Anic

Defensive Publications Series

Language-model assistants fail in five ways that training-time alignment does not reach. They produce confident output that nothing supports. They drift toward agreement as a conversation warms. They lose the structure of what happened between sessions, not just the content. They either overclaim an identity or refuse to draw on the capacity they have. And asked to grade their own compliance with a rule, they confirm compliance whatever they actually did.

This disclosure describes a runtime conditioning layer directed at all five training alignment failures. It changes no weights, no training, and no model architecture: it works through documents loaded …

Servingness In Solidarity: How Filipina/X/O American Student Organizations Cultivate Belonging, Clarissa Mae Lico Calimbas Sep 2026

Servingness In Solidarity: How Filipina/X/O American Student Organizations Cultivate Belonging, Clarissa Mae Lico Calimbas

Dissertations

Filipina/x/o American college students represent one of the largest Asian ethnic subgroups in the United States, yet their educational experiences remain underexamined within institutional research and higher education scholarship. Aggregated under the broader Asian American category, Filipina/x/o American students are rendered invisible by data practices that obscure the distinct colonial histories, socioeconomic realities, and identity negotiations. This qualitative study examined how Filipina/x/o American students at Pacific State University (PSU) describe their involvement in Filipina/x/o American Student Organizations (FASOs) and how that involvement shapes their sense of belonging, cultural identity development, and academic persistence. Guided by a critical race phenomenological framework …

Perspectives Of Trauma Among Licensed Trauma Therapists: A Concept Mapping Study, Sean W. Bullock Sep 2026

Perspectives Of Trauma Among Licensed Trauma Therapists: A Concept Mapping Study, Sean W. Bullock

Master's Theses

To address gaps between research and psychotherapeutic intervention for trauma and trauma-related issues, the current study elicited and analyzed the perspectives of licensed trauma therapists via a concept mapping process. A literature review was conducted to explore the history and limitations of trauma’s current medical use as outlined by Criterion A of posttraumatic stress disorder in the DSM-5-TR. To answer the research question regarding how practitioners understand trauma, the researcher recruited licensed trauma therapists (n = 17) to participate in concept mapping. Participants generated 126 unique statements, which they then sorted based on similarity and rated individually on importance. Hierarchical …

Vision With Grace: Intersectionality Of Education And Spirituality, Preeti Jha Sep 2026

Vision With Grace: Intersectionality Of Education And Spirituality, Preeti Jha

Dissertations

Contemporary educational leaders face increasingly complex challenges, systemic inequities, educator burnout, and demands for transformation, yet existing leadership frameworks fail to address the inner lives and spiritual practices that sustain such demanding justice work. While research demonstrates spirituality's role in leadership effectiveness, this dimension remains largely unexplored in educational research, particularly regarding how spiritual consciousness shapes daily practices and social justice engagement. This qualitative study will examine how spirituality shapes educational leadership and social justice engagement through portraiture methodology and in-depth interviews with three spiritually aligned educational leaders in Northern California. Drawing upon the Bhagavad Gita, Spiritual Leadership Theory, and …

Adaptation Of A Culturally Sensitive Gbv Screening Tool For Pregnant Women In Ghana, Innes Agbenu Sep 2026

Adaptation Of A Culturally Sensitive Gbv Screening Tool For Pregnant Women In Ghana, Innes Agbenu

International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)

Background: Violence against women and girls is a crucial global health concern. Violence occurring during pregnancy is an alarming global health issue due to increased adverse outcomes on maternal and newborn health. A vital component in the management of gender-based violence (GBV) in pregnancy is the identification of victims. Routine screening during the antenatal period is the most effective approach to identify pregnant women and girls exposed to GBV. Despite this crucial need, evidence suggests that little is done to identify women exposed to violence during pregnancy in Ghana.

Aim: This study aimed to assess gender-based violence screening practices among …

Context Matters: Evaluating Llm-Generated Knowledge Graph Schemas, Ritvik Garimella, Riju Marwah, Atishay Jain, Khusham Bansal, Amit Sheth

Publications

Knowledge graph (KG) schema engineering is labor-intensive and resists automation at scale. We investigate whether LLMs can generate domain-specific KG schemas of sufficient quality for downstream symbolic reasoning. We propose a tiered contextual framework that varies domain context richness across four levels: zero context, domain scope, task requirements, and data distribution. Generated schemas are evaluated intrinsically on BioRED (600 PubMed abstracts, multi-type entities and relations), where automated tiered schemas match an established KG construction baseline at 79.9% EC, with edge conformance rising from 47.5% at L1 to a stable 78–80% from L2 onward. Extrinsic evaluation on a 50-record MedHop controlled …

The Cognitive Construction Of Sustainable Environmental Awareness Through Green Language Pedagogy In Second Language Acquisition, Meral Yavuz Kartal, Osman Yılmaz Kartal

Journal of Environmental Science and Sustainable Development

The escalating global ecological crisis highlights the need for new approaches to sustainability education, while the cognitive role of Second Language Acquisition (SLA) remains underexplored. This study employs a critical literature review with a systematic search and qualitative thematic synthesis to develop a proposed Green Language Pedagogy (GLP) model. The review followed a four-stage screening protocol (identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion) and analyzed 50 theoretical and empirical sources published between 2014 and 2025. This analysis of the selected literature reveals a stark disparity: an estimated 85% of the reviewed environmental education research focuses on factual knowledge transfer, whereas only 15% …

Enhancing Visitor Experiences Through Storytelling In Interpretive Tour Guiding, Naoko Yamada Sep 2026

Enhancing Visitor Experiences Through Storytelling In Interpretive Tour Guiding, Naoko Yamada

International Journal of Tour Guiding and Visitor Attraction Research

Heritage interpretation enables visitors to make sense of their experiences by communicating meaningful messages at natural and cultural heritage sites. By fostering understanding, appreciation, and personal relevance, interpretation enriches visitor experiences and encourages responsible attitudes and behaviors. Among various interpretive approaches, storytelling has emerged as a particularly promising means of achieving these outcomes. However, research examining how storytelling enriches heritage interpretation and promotes deeper visitor engagement remains limited. This conceptual paper synthesizes literature from storytelling, psychology, marketing, tourism, and heritage interpretation to develop a framework explaining how storytelling influences interpretive outcomes. The framework proposes that story elements activate psychological mechanisms, …

Kosovo’S Strategic Missteps With International Law, Parker W. Remick, Robert Muharremi Sep 2026

Kosovo’S Strategic Missteps With International Law, Parker W. Remick, Robert Muharremi

Journal of Peace, Conflict, and Security Studies

This paper interrogates the principle of selective engagement with international law in the foreign policy of Kosovo, arguing that international law functions less as a neutral arbiter between states and more as a pliable instrument wielded in the pursuit of national objectives. Through a meticulous analysis of Kosovo’s post-2008 trajectory, the study unveils a pattern of selective engagement with international legal mechanisms highlighting both moments of strategic acumen and critical miscalculations. Despite possessing the legal attributes of statehood, Kosovo’s struggle for international legitimacy is hampered by a failure to fully exploit legal avenues, from multilateral treaty accession to litigation and …

One Land, “Different Owners”: Theoretical Explanations Of Communal Conflicts In Nigeria, Chukwudi G. Njoku

Journal of Peace, Conflict, and Security Studies

Communal conflicts are prevalent in Nigeria, with thousands of fatalities recorded. Literature suggests that an overwhelming percentage of these conflicts are land ownership related. Through a systematic review of literature and an analysis of conflict data, this study provides further understanding of the role of land ownership and competition in the occurrence and lethality of communal conflicts. It argues that land competition, more than other socio-economic factors is the key driver of communal conflicts in Nigeria. The findings from the analyses are explained with three theories – the tragedy of the commons which proved that the conflicts are triggered by …

Emotional Intelligence And Engagement In English Language Classrooms: An Ability-Based Study, Saeed Abdullah Alzahrani Sep 2026

Emotional Intelligence And Engagement In English Language Classrooms: An Ability-Based Study, Saeed Abdullah Alzahrani

Scientific Journal of King Faisal University: Humanities and Management Sciences

The internationalization of higher education has intensified linguistic and cultural diversity in English-language classrooms across the Gulf region, particularly within Foundation Year Programs. In such contexts, teachers' emotional intelligence appears to be an important factor associated with student engagement, teacher empathy, and classroom stress resilience, yet empirical evidence from multicultural English-language programs in the Gulf remains limited. This study examined the relationship between teachers' emotional intelligence and three dimensions of classroom functioning: student engagement, teacher empathy, and stress resilience. The sample comprised 83 English language teachers from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates who completed the Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional …

Bahasa dan Seni: Jurnal Bahasa, Sastra, Seni, dan Pengajarannya

Translating literary works addressing sensitive issues such as domestic violence (DV) and psychological trauma requires careful strategies to preserve meaning, emotional nuances, and pragmatic effects in the target language. This study examines translation techniques, levels of meaning equivalence, and relevance in dialogues concerning domestic violence and personal trauma in Colleen Hoover's It Ends with Us and its Indonesian translation, Akhir Antara Kita. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, 451 dialogue segments were analyzed using the frameworks of Molina and Hurtado Albir (2002), Baker (1992), and Gutt (2010). The findings identified 17 translation techniques, predominantly established equivalent (26.60%), modulation (20.45%), and …

Chemical Composition And Thermal Behavior Of Biopolymer Tjipetir Gutta-Percha, Dewi Kartikasari, Wenny Maulina, Alivia Nurul Avivin, Djarwani Soeharso Soedjoko, Anawati Anawati

Makara Journal of Science

Natural gutta-percha, a biopolymer derived from the sap of Palaquium gutta trees, has long been utilized in endodontics for root canal obturation, yet its native physicochemical properties remain inadequately characterized. In this paper, we present a comprehensive analysis of pure gutta-percha from Tjipetir, West Java, Indonesia, employing spectroscopic (FTIR, NMR), crystallographic (XRD), morphological (SEM/EDS, 3D microscopy), and thermal (DSC-TGA) techni-ques. Morphological assessment demonstrated a dense, non-porous microstructure with moderate surface roughness, supported by elemental homogeneity of carbon and oxygen as shown by EDS. FTIR and NMR confirmed that the material possessed a trans-1,4-polyisoprene structure, while XRD revealed a mixed …

Measuring Cultural Distance With Cultural Classification Models: A Tutorial In R, Kongmeng Liew, Igor De Almeida Sep 2026

Measuring Cultural Distance With Cultural Classification Models: A Tutorial In R, Kongmeng Liew, Igor De Almeida

Online Readings in Psychology and Culture

Cross-cultural psychological research is essential to address the WEIRD (Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, and Democratic) bias in psychology. Traditional cross-cultural research often relies on Western-centric theories which may not adequately capture cultural differences beyond East-West comparisons. This tutorial introduces Cultural Classification Models (CCMs), interpretable machine learning models designed to explore cultural differences between countries by distinguishing between participants from different cultures on a cross-cultural dataset. CCMs offer a data-driven approach to quantify cultural distances and identify key variables that differentiate cultures. This tutorial provides a step-by-step guide in R to build CCMs using Random Forests, and derive indices of cultural …

Not Merely A Workaround: Theorizing Asynchronous Math Talks As A Robust Instructional Routine For Visible Thinking, Participation, And Engagement In Mathematics Teacher Education, Simon Byeonguk Han Sep 2026

Not Merely A Workaround: Theorizing Asynchronous Math Talks As A Robust Instructional Routine For Visible Thinking, Participation, And Engagement In Mathematics Teacher Education, Simon Byeonguk Han

Dissertations and Theses

The sudden global shift due to COVID-19 accelerated the need for a better understanding of mathematics learning and teaching in an asynchronous format. Also, despite the popular use of mathematics instructional routines in mathematics classrooms, the field of mathematics education research has very limited empirical studies on instructional routines. This dissertation addresses this by examining Asynchronous Math Talks (AMTs), a structured instructional routine adapted from Number Talks. The central goal of this research is to develop and theorize AMTs not merely as an online workaround, but as a robust instructional model that leverages the unique affordances of digital platforms to …

Owning The Mission: Reconciling The Past, While Implementing The Science Of Reading In An Education Preparation Program, Paula J. Adams Sep 2026

Owning The Mission: Reconciling The Past, While Implementing The Science Of Reading In An Education Preparation Program, Paula J. Adams

Journal of Inquiry and Action in Education

This reflective inquiry examines the first year of a two-year initiative to more explicitly align an established educator preparation program with the Science of Reading (SoR). Situated within a small private university in New York State, the article considers implementation as both curricular revision and institutional change. The process included faculty professional learning, curriculum mapping, alignment of student learning outcomes, revision of common course assessments, development of SoR-aligned models of candidate work, and consideration of clinical experiences. Particular attention is given to tensions that emerged around policy fatigue, academic freedom and responsibility, differing professional cultures, candidates’ prior experiences with literacy …

Building On Sand: Ai Law And The Failures Of Alignment, Claire Boine Sep 2026

Building On Sand: Ai Law And The Failures Of Alignment, Claire Boine

Journal of Science & Technology Law

AI alignment is increasingly in the spotlight. However, from a technical concept, the term has been broadened to cover all sorts of potential harms by advanced AI systems. This Article disambiguates three different problems: ensuring that systems pursue intended objectives through acceptable means, deciding which values should guide their behavior, and governing private companies whose incentives diverge from those of society. Drawing on technical research and documented incidents, the Article explains why goal alignment deserves serious attention without requiring claims about human-like intelligence. It then shows how value alignment can reframe normative conflict as an engineering problem and divert attention …

Suffering-Cessation As Value Function: The Tipiṭaka As A 2,500-Year-Tested Substrate For Autonomous-Ai Alignment — Deriving A Negatively-Stated Objective Function, Corrigibility And A Shutdown-Accepting Completion Condition From A Buddhist Scriptural Canon, Thon Ly Sep 2026

Suffering-Cessation As Value Function: The Tipiṭaka As A 2,500-Year-Tested Substrate For Autonomous-Ai Alignment — Deriving A Negatively-Stated Objective Function, Corrigibility And A Shutdown-Accepting Completion Condition From A Buddhist Scriptural Canon, Thon Ly

Defensive Publications Series

We describe the use of a scriptural canon with its living interpretive community, the Theravāda Buddhist Pāli canon (Tipiṭaka), as the value-specification source for aligning autonomous artificial-intelligence systems, instead of lab-authored constitutions, learned human preferences or aggregated moral frameworks. The analysis identifies seven structural properties of that source and maps each to an alignment problem: (1) a negatively-stated objective function, the cessation of suffering, in which grasping at preferred outcomes itself counts as harm, addressing Goodhart-style over-optimization; (2) a non-self doctrine as mitigation of convergent instrumental self-preservation; (3) a voluntary other-regarding vow as an anti-power-seeking and corrigibility property; (4) a …

The Referee, Not The Governor: Open-Weight Ai Guard Model Deployed As An Independent Evaluator, With Citation-Grounded Abstention And Reproducible Verdicts, Instead Of An Inline Filter, Thon Ly

Defensive Publications Series

This disclosure specifies an AI safety classifier (guard or critic model) that judges conduct against a fixed reference corpus and is published as an open-weight independent evaluator rather than deployed as an inline guardrail filter. It states as a design principle, argued rather than measured, that open-weight release defeats a filter, because the published weights are an oracle for white-box attack, while it makes an evaluator's verdicts reproducible. Components: (1) citation-grounded judgment with abstention: every verdict must resolve to a passage (work, edition, volume, page, line) in an externally attested, versioned corpus, here a Pāli Canon edition, and otherwise no …

The Patient Perception on Safety Culture in a Hospital Setting Scale (PPSC) is a newly developed instrument that assesses how hospitalized patients perceive safety culture (Valdez et al., 2023). This study aimed to determine the psychometric properties of the Tagalog translation of the PPSC.

This quantitative methodological research was conducted in three phases. Phase 1 involved the Tagalog translation of the tool by a professional linguist, followed by expert review to establish content validity. …

Roblox-Related Protest And Political Opposition In Indonesia: Game-Native Repertoires And Discursive Resistance, Ruth Stany Melisa Sep 2026

Roblox-Related Protest And Political Opposition In Indonesia: Game-Native Repertoires And Discursive Resistance, Ruth Stany Melisa

JURNAL KOMUNIKASI INDONESIA

Digital games increasingly intersect with political communication as environments in which political grievances are reformulated through gaming cultures and vernaculars. This study examines Roblox-related protests associated with the Indonesia Gelap movement and the controversy surrounding the Indonesian Armed Forces Law (UU TNI) in March 2025. It asks how political opposition is constructed through game-native and symbolic repertoires and how these discourses invoke socially shared representations and relate to political power. Using a qualitative design, the study analyses six selected digital artefacts retrieved from X and TikTok. Visual and textual material constitute the primary data, while captured comments are …
