Cytotoxic Effect Of Crab Shell Extracts On Different Tumor Cell Lines, Ahmed M. Al-Shammari, Nahi Y. Yaseen, Shareef Al-Alwaji, Khansaa Raad, Shiamaa Salman Dawood

Al-Qadisiyah Medical Journal

Crab, a kind of marine animal that has a unique status in evolution, has many bioactive substances with special functions. In the present study, we investigated the antitumor effects of four different extracts derived from crab shell (aqueous and methanolic extracts of burned and normal crab shell powder). Aqueous and methanolic extracts of burned crab shell powder were shown to be cytotoxic and inhibit the in vitro proliferation of human laryngeal carcinoma tumor cell lines (Hep-2) and human Rhabdomyosarcoma cell line (RD) and one murine mammary adenocarcinoma tumor cell line (AMN3), in dose and time dependant manner. These results suggest …

Effect Of Date Extracts On The Lymphocyte And Monocyte Cells, Jihan F. Ashraf, Ayat Monem

Al-Qadisiyah Medical Journal

The effect of dates extracts were determined in human peripheral lymphocyte and monocyte cells using different concentrations of the extracts for three days- there term assay (MTT) was employed. There was no cytotoxic effect of the date extracts on human lymphocyte and monocyte cells. The results showed that the ideal concentrations of different date extracts have a protective effects of tamer (Barhi, Zahdi and Khistawy) to the lymphocyte and monocyte cells and may be that because these date extracts contain antioxidants in various type of dates.

A stereological study of a (middle piece) of ductus epididymis between normal adult human, bulls, rams, goats and buffalos was conducted using routine histological techniques. The following stereological parameters were determined; Stereocilia height, epithelial height, muscular wall thickness, lumen and tube diameters. The human epididymal stereocilia height is shorter than in goat only and higher than bulls and goats in both the epithelial height and muscular wall thickness. Human ductile diameter is smaller than in other animals. In conclusion, all human epididymal mid piece parameters in the present study differ significantly than in the other animals. Because human epididymis differs …

Background: Otitis Media (OM) is an inflammation of the middle ear drum and the inner ear, including a duct known as the eustachian tube. Otitis media is very common in children. Over 60 percent of the cases of otitis media are caused by bacteria. Urinary tract infection(UTI) refer to the presence of microbial pathogens within the urinary tract. A urinary tract infection is a condition where one or more structures in the urinary tract becomes infected after bacteria overcome its strong natural defenses. In spite of these defenses, urinary tract infections are the most common of all infections and can …

The aims of the current study were to determine whether VEGF mRNA insitu expression, has any significant correlation with various histopathological parameters during colorectal adenocarcinoma progression and its correlation with metastatic potency. Accordingly, 35 colorectal adenocarcinoma paraffin embedded sections prepared from Iraqi patients, in …
