A Study Of The Risk Factors Of Kidney Stones In Karbala, Inam Abbood Al_Ibrahimy
A Study Of The Risk Factors Of Kidney Stones In Karbala, Inam Abbood Al_Ibrahimy
Al-Qadisiyah Medical Journal
Background The recurrence and incidence of kidney stones are both high among Iraqis. The review paper offers details on the diagnostics, pathophysiology and epidemiology of kidney stone development, as well as techniques for assessing stone risks in both follow-up and new patients. Recurrence of stones could be avoided with proper management and assessment. The various dangers associated with each form of stone must be considered in the medical and dietary management of kidney stone avoidance. The most effective means of preventing kidney stones from recurring are the identification of such risk factors and the implementation of long-term management methods for …

Study The Impact Of Serum Melatonin Level On Male Infertility And Reproductive Hormones And Its Correlation To Semen Parameters, Fahad Alsalih
Al-Qadisiyah Medical Journal
Infertility is the inability of couples to achieve pregnancy after one year of regular unprotected coitus. Infertility is the problem of 15% of young couples in different countries and male factor infertility accounts for 50% of cases. Melatonin or 5-methoxy-N-acetyltryptamine was discovered by Aaron Lerner in 1958 while studying bovine pineal glands. Significant advancements have been made in the research on melatonin, which has revealed its vital roles in regulating sleep-wake cycle rhythms, decelerating the aging process, and functioning as an antioxidant or anti-inflammatory agent. Additionally, melatonin, a critical component in reproductive functions, has the ability to eliminate free radicals …

Al-Qadisiyah Medical Journal
Antibiotic therapies can not affect only on the pathogenic bacteria, but also commensal microorganisms in the humans gut, which might serve as a reservoir of antimicrobial resistance genes. fecal Escherichia coli (E. coli) is often considered as a good indicator for selection pressure imposed by antimicrobial use. The goal of this study was to determine genotyping groups of commonsal E. coli and investigate the frequency of integrons class 2 and antibiotic resistance among them. So detect the association of integron class2 with antibiotic resistance (single and multiple drug resistance) that may be transport horizontally in bacterial populations. In this study …

Normal intestinal microbiota are a reservoir for antibiotic resistance (genes) especially Escherichia coli (E. coli). The goal of this study was to investigate the prevalence of integrons class 1 and antibiotic resistance among commensal E. coli isolates and detect the association of integron class 1 with antibiotic resistance (single or multiple drug resistance) that may be transport horizontally to other bacteria. Three hundred one E. coli isolates from stools were obtained from healthy individuals (age from 1to 80 years). All isolates were tested for their susceptibility against 16 antimicrobial agents using standard disc diffusion method and for the presence of …

Fifty patients with chronic renal insufficiency underwent clinical evaluation & studies of thyroid function the results were compared with age & sex-matched controls. (20%) of patients had biochemical hypothyroidism with low serum T3, T4, & high serum TSH. All the members of the control group were biochemically euthyroid. The mean values of serum T3, T4 were significantly lower & mean serum TSH was significantly higher as compared to controls. There was no correlation of thyroid functions with decrease in renal function. To conclude thyroid dysfunction occurs both clinically & biochemically in patients with chronic renal insufficiency.
