However, pre-stroke …

Methods For Radiation-Sparing Navigation In Endovascular And Spine Surgery, William Ross Warner Jan 2026

Methods For Radiation-Sparing Navigation In Endovascular And Spine Surgery, William Ross Warner

Dartmouth College Ph.D Dissertations

Modern surgical navigation systems improve procedural accuracy, limit complications, and can reduce reliance on intraoperative ionizing radiation, yet their adoption remains uneven across surgical domains. Informed by clinical immersion, this thesis identifies and addresses two unmet needs revealed through contrasting image-guidance practices in endovascular and spine surgery, where existing guidance techniques are costly, intermittent, or fundamentally limited. Specifically, these needs include (1) the absence of radiation-sparing navigation techniques for endovascular procedures, which rely heavily on 2D x-ray angiography, and (2) the need for dynamic registration methods in open spine surgery, where navigation accuracy can degrade after initial registration and intraoperative …

Evaluating The Central Themes Of The Pentateuch In Apocalypse In Light Of The Pentateuch Author’S Compositional Strategy, Donald Registe

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

This dissertation presents a theological interpretation of the thematic analogies between the Pentateuch and the book of Revelation, arguing that the central themes of the Pentateuch reach their consummation in John’s Apocalypse. Previous scholarship has not systematically traced these themes within Revelation, nor placed them in their broader canonical context. This study addresses that gap by demonstrating how the eschatological structures of the Pentateuch find their climax in Revelation. The research employs a methodology grounded in primary biblical texts, supported by critical engagement with Old and New Testament scholarship, accepting conclusions only when warranted by evidence. The first three chapters …

Vigilante Violence, The Rise Of The New Right, And The Persistence Of The Texas Farmworkers, 1975–1980, Brent M. S. Campney, Tim Bowman

History Faculty Publications

This study charts the ineffective vigilante violence perpetrated by growers in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas to suppress farmworker activism from the mid-to-late 1970s and their abrupt shift in tactics with a 1980 strike in Hereford, Texas, toward the adoption of strictly nonviolent and tediously legalistic new methods associated with the neoconservative backlash. It does so in two major sections. In the first, grower violence is chronicled in detail that underscores both its rage and ineffectiveness. The second section shows how the New Right usurped the longstanding usage of physical violence against ethnic Mexicans in Texas, prompting conservatives to …

Faculty, Staff and Student Publications

Dietary components influence microbial composition in the digestive tract. Although often viewed as energy sources, dietary components are likely to shape microbial determinants of intestinal colonization beyond metabolism. Here, we report that a dietary long-chain fatty acid enhances the yeast Candida albicans colonization of the murine gut partly by eliciting modifications to the fungal cell surface. Mice fed an oleic acid-rich diet were readily colonized by C. albicans and exhibited higher fungal load in feces compared with rodents fed an isocaloric control diet. Surprisingly, β-oxidation, a catabolic process to break down fatty acids for energy production, was dispensable for C. …

A Neutrosophic Homological-Gröbner Framework For Ai-Driven Media Education Evaluation, Mona Gharib, Hafiz Muhammad Athar Farid, José M. Merigó, Muhammad Riaz

Sustainable Machine Intelligence Journal

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) with media technologies has transformed teaching in Journalism and Communication, introducing new challenges for quality evaluation. Traditional assessment methods fail to capture the uncertainty, inconsistency, and incompleteness inherent in modern educational data. This paper proposes a Neutrosophic Homological–Gröbner Framework, which unifies three perspectives: neutrosophic sets to encode uncertain evidence, homological algebra to analyze structural coherence, and Gröbner bases to systematically simplify interdependent evaluation rules.

Within this framework, diverse evidence is encoded into neutrosophic triplets, daggregate into course-level indicators, and organized into neutrosophic chain complexes, where Betti indices reveal coherence and fragmentation. Educational policies are …

An Enhanced Optimization Algorithm For Estimating Pem Fuel Cells Parameters: Performance Comparison And Real-World Applicability, Ibrahim Alrashdi, Karam M. Sallam

Sustainable Machine Intelligence Journal

Accurate modeling is critical for the efficient design, control, and optimization of a proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell. This problem is regarded as a multi-modal, multi-variate, non-linear optimization problem, and several methods in the literature have been presented to tackle it. However, those methods still suffer from either being stuck into local optima or a slow convergence rate. To solve this problem more accurately in terms of final results and convergence speed, this study proposes a hybrid optimization algorithm based on enhancing the recently proposed crested porcupine optimizer (CPO) using two new optimization methods, namely ranking-based optimization and exploration-exploitation …

Jewish weddings are as important to Jewish culture today as they were in the time of Christ. There is a process to the event that begins with a betrothal period, followed by a wedding procession and a lavish feast. In ancient Judah, the groom brought his bride to a place he prepared for her at his father's house. The Gospel of John reveals a distinct methodical interaction with the cultural and institutional norms of Judaism, as is argued to reveal the motif of a divine betrothal process. While the Synoptics have been argued to be more concerned about historical matters, …

Targeted therapies have revolutionized cancer care. Unfortunately, most patients develop refractory, multifocal resistance to these therapies within a matter of months. Here, we demonstrate that the evolution of resistance to EGFR inhibitors in EGFR-mutant non-small cell lung cancer endows cells with hypersensitivity to a PAINS-like small molecule, MCB-613. Systematic proteomic, functional genomic, and biochemical studies revealed that MCB-613 binds KEAP1 in a covalent, cysteine-independent fashion, acting as a divalent molecular bridge that relies upon lysine residues in the KEAP1 dimerization domain to join monomers of KEAP1 together. Oligomerization of KEAP1 by MCB-613 sets into motion a fatal cascade of KEAP1 …
