Building Belonging: Designing A Training Program To Foster Inclusion In Children's Ministry, Amanda J. Lemieux

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

The strategic problem aims to address how to train volunteer children’s ministry workers to feel more confident and well-equipped to handle children with diverse needs. Paul wrote in Romans that one should be accepting of all people just as Jesus accepted (Rom. 15:5-7). Humanity is created in the very image of God, the Creator. It is essential to recognize that everyone is created in God’s image and, therefore, deserves to be treated as such (Gen. 1:27). A healthy children’s ministry should ensure that all children are not only welcome within the classroom but also taught in a way that they …

Lift Every Voice: A Qualitative Descriptive Phenomenological Study, Janet Singleton Wooten Dec 2025

Lift Every Voice: A Qualitative Descriptive Phenomenological Study, Janet Singleton Wooten

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

Many teacher preparation programs include coursework in special education; however, music educators often begin their careers without adequate training to effectively teach students with special needs, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Music can serve as a vital avenue for communication and belonging for students with ASD, underscoring the importance of inclusive choral education as a research focus. A review of existing literature revealed a gap in pedagogical preparation and a lack of attention to inclusive practices in secondary choral classrooms. Although specialized training could enhance educators’ understanding of how students with ASD learn and thrive, further research is …

More Than Half Of Granite Staters Will Have Artificial Trees This Christmas 12/16/2025, Unh Survey Center

All UNH Survey Center Polls

The trend towards artificial Christmas trees in New Hampshire continues apace, with just over half of state residents preferring them. Residents who prefer artificial trees most often say they like them because they already have one, they create less mess, and they last longer, while those who prefer real trees mention tradition or the look or smell. Nearly all New Hampshire residents plan on celebrating Christmas, and most primarily celebrate it as a family or cultural holiday rather than a religious holiday. More than three-quarters of Granite Staters expect a white Christmas, up from four in ten who felt that …

Spatial Ecology And Population Dynamics Of Chukar Partridge, Jacob Taft Barnes Dec 2025

Spatial Ecology And Population Dynamics Of Chukar Partridge, Jacob Taft Barnes

Theses and Dissertations

Chukar (Alectoris chukar) are a non-native bird that has naturalized in North America following its introduction over a century ago. Today, the species supports hunting opportunities in 11 U.S. states and one Canadian province. Despite its wide distribution and recreational value, key aspects of chukar ecology remain poorly understood. Limited information is available on the species' spatial ecology, including patterns of space use. Likewise, information regarding the influence of weather on population dynamics of chukar has not been formally conducted. As part of our investigation, we evaluated the space use of chukar in western Utah, USA utilizing GPS transmitters (Chapter …

Early-To-Rise And Mobility, Opal Livelee, Helen Grace Baldo Dec 2025

Early-To-Rise And Mobility, Opal Livelee, Helen Grace Baldo

Biennial Convention (CONV)

Background: Immobility in hospitalized patients presents numerous physical and physiological complications. Evidence suggests circadian variation negatively impacts various bodily functions and overall quality of life. Interventions such as waking patients during the day and keeping them active can help maintain a normal sleep-wake cycle. This early-to-rise and mobility project builds on a successful pilot in the hospital’s stroke unit that demonstrated a decrease in the length of stay (LOS) of stroke patients after three months.

Purpose: To prevent complications and improve efficiency, the project aims to increase patients’ mobility, decrease patients’ LOS, and lower the LOS index.

Methods: The Plan, …

These shortages contribute to the bigger issue of the U.S. professional nursing shortage. Previous research has shown that student-to-faculty incivility results in many negative psychological outcomes, which can lead to faculty considerations of leaving the profession.

Purpose: To determine undergraduate nursing faculty’s intrinsic and extrinsic motivating factors to remain in their current professional role after experiencing incivility from undergraduate nursing students

Methods: This was a qualitative, descriptive pilot study. Seven current undergraduate nursing …

Understanding Medication Adherence Among American Indian/Alaska Native People With Type 2 Diabetes Within A Commercial Health System, Leandra Bitterfeld Dec 2025

Understanding Medication Adherence Among American Indian/Alaska Native People With Type 2 Diabetes Within A Commercial Health System, Leandra Bitterfeld

Dissertations

American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) adults experience higher rates of type 2 diabetes and worse glycemic control than non-Hispanic White Americans. Despite the importance of medication adherence for T2DM management, there is only one study in the last 15 years examining the relationship between medication adherence and A1C among AI/ANs. Furthermore, T2DM research among AI/ANs has largely been conducted within Indian Health Service and Tribal healthcare systems, though most AI/ANs live outside of reservations, meaning many use commercial health systems. The purpose of this dissertation is twofold. We sought to first understand the experience of AI/AN people accessing T2DM in a …

Energy Input–Output Meta-Analysis Reveals Algal Diesel Struggles To Break Even, Michelle M. Arnold, David J. R. Murphy, Christopher L. Lant Dec 2025

Energy Input–Output Meta-Analysis Reveals Algal Diesel Struggles To Break Even, Michelle M. Arnold, David J. R. Murphy, Christopher L. Lant

Environment and Society Student Research

Algal biofuels have been investigated as an alternative to fossil fuels and first-generation biofuels for transportation in the United States since the 1970s. Yet after five decades of development, scalability and implementation remain limited—largely due to persistent barriers such as low biomass productivity, modest lipid yields, and energy-intensive processing methods. These technical challenges significantly constrain the feasibility of large-scale commercialization despite substantial research and investment. To evaluate progress toward commercial viability, this study harmonized energy inputs and outputs across 508 observations on the production of algal biofuel energy return on energy investment (EROEI) in the United States. While bioethanol achieves …

Conducting A Historical Map Collection Condition Assessment Survey At The Rochester Public Library, Ron Martin-Dent

Library Faculty Publications

Historical maps retain tremendous research value in the digital era. While many libraries have digitized their maps to expand research access, challenges remain for preserving physical maps. This project report describes a collection condition assessment survey at a public library using free online tools and volunteer hours to identify preservation issues and develop strategies to improve collection care. Collection condition surveys can serve as a road map for further preservation, conservation, and digitization projects.
