Russian language enrollments at U.S. universities have declined steadily since 2009 (MLA, 2023), yet little research has examined current student motivations for studying Russian, particularly after the 2022 escalation of the Russo–Ukrainian War. This study surveyed two groups: (a) students enrolled in any 101-level language course at University X and (b) students in Russian courses at six U.S. universities. Results show that motivations for studying Russian are primarily integrative—general interest in the language, desire to converse with Russian speakers, aspirations to travel to Russian-speaking countries, and previous Russian knowledge—rather than instrumental. This qualitative multiple case study investigates how individual learner differences manifest and evolve within a transformative, proficiency-oriented undergraduate Russian language program. Drawing on complexity theory and transformative approaches to language education, the study explores how learners’ motivations, identities, and professional aspirations develop in a curriculum that integrates advanced language learning with long-term career planning. Three focal participants were followed longitudinally across their undergraduate trajectories, using a combination of standardized proficiency assessments and in-depth reflective interviews. Language learning is an inherently emotional process, shaped by both positive and negative experiences that influence the individual difference of learner beliefs. This article explores the mediating role of positive psychology (PP) in second language acquisition (SLA), with a particular focus on mindfulness and its potential to reshape learner beliefs in the Russian language classroom. Drawing on theories such as Seligman’s PERMA model and Fredrickson’s broaden-and-build theory, as well as evidence-based interventions, the article argues that mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) provide practical tools for cultivating positive learner beliefs and inclusive, growth-oriented classroom environments. Physical design (PD) within very-large-scale integration (VLSI) is complex, iterative, and time-consuming, featuring extended design cycles and requiring significant manual debugging that is heavily reliant on individual experience of the engineer. This disclosure describes techniques to model the entire PD lifecycle of a VLSI design as a conceptual graph by leveraging historical PD data. The conceptual graph can be employed to represent the entire design history as a directed acyclic graph (DAG). Chemotherapy-induced bone loss is a debilitating and common side effect of cancer treatment, though its underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. Here, we show that, despite the systemic administration of chemotherapy, cellular senescence is restricted to bone marrow adipo-lineage cells specifically Cxcl12-abundant reticular (CAR) cells and bone marrow adipocytes (BMAds). Induction of senescence within these populations promotes RANK ligand (RANKL)-mediated osteoclastogenesis, leading to significant bone loss. Notably, we find that inhibition of the p38MAPK-MK2 pathway suppresses the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), including RANKL production abrogating bone loss. Furthermore, treatment with the senolytic combination dasatinib and quercetin (D + Q) selectively eliminates …

BACKGROUND: People with HIV (PWH) experience high levels of mental health or substance use disorders (MSDs) which may compromise HIV treatment outcomes. Differences in the relationship between MSDs and HIV treatment outcomes by gender remain understudied.

METHODS: We conducted interviews with 426 PWH aged ≥ 21 years initiating HIV care in Cameroon between June 2019 and March 2020. This study presents a Python-based simulation framework that eliminates the need for physical hardware by emulating sensor data generation, UART-style communication, structured CSV logging, and real-time visualization.
