Under these conditions, the extract exhibited high levels of total phenolics, flavonoids, and …
Neural-Network Based K-Value Prediction In Clustering Problems Without Distance Computation, Rohhan Rabari
Neural-Network Based K-Value Prediction In Clustering Problems Without Distance Computation, Rohhan Rabari
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Clustering remains a pivotal component of unsupervised learning, central to tasks such as data exploration and pattern discovery. However, most conventional clustering algorithms are parametric in nature, requiring one or more parameters to be specified in advance—most notably the number of clusters (k). These predefined parameters can drastically alter the outcome of clustering, leading to unstable or misleading results, particularly when the true structure of the data is unknown. This thesis introduces a novel framework that transforms raw input into a latent vector representation, enabling a neural network to automatically predict the optimal number of clusters without any prior parameter …

Graphene is a material with unique properties and high potential. Due to its outstanding characteristics in strength, electrical and thermal conductivity, and flexibility, graphene is considered one of the materials of the future that can be used to enhance the efficiency of various emerging technologies. This research focuses on the synthesis of graphene using the Flash Joule Heating (FJH) process, during which an extremely high temperature occurs within milliseconds. The carbon precursor is rapidly exposed to intense heat, resulting in the dissociation of all chemical bonds in its structure and the reorganization of carbon atoms into a new graphene structure. …
Robust Palm Print For Mobile Authentication System, Son Nguyen
Robust Palm Print For Mobile Authentication System, Son Nguyen
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Smartphones are gateways to financial, health, and personal data; consequently, mobile authentication must be accurate, fast, privacy-preserving, and scalable. This thesis presents an end-to-end palmprint authentication framework that addresses a practical trilemma: label-efficient learning, on-device efficiency, and cloud-scale identification. We pretrain a ResNet-18 encoder with self-supervised contrastive learning on unlabeled palm images, distill its representation to a lightweight MobileNetV3 student for real-time inference on phones, and support both 1:1 on-device verification and 1:N cloud identification using FAISS/HNSW. On public datasets, the system attains 99.2% accuracy, a 0.15% equal-error rate (EER), and ~87 ms end-to-end latency on iPhone-class hardware. FAISS scales …
Data-Driven Predictive Model For Various Shapes Of Gold Nanoparticle Synthesis Based On Self-Organizing Maps, Thanapol Khamhla
Data-Driven Predictive Model For Various Shapes Of Gold Nanoparticle Synthesis Based On Self-Organizing Maps, Thanapol Khamhla
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
This work presents a machine learning framework that simultaneously classifies the shape and predicts the localised surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) wavelength of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) purely from synthesis conditions. The dataset used to train the model consist of synthesis conditions and the corresponding AuNPs characteristics, including spherical, star, plate, and rod shapes with their measured LSPR wavelengths, were compiled from existing literatures. Our model first classifies synthesis conditions into clusters according to their resulting shape and then builds local regression models for each shape, enabling both classification and quantitative prediction within a single framework. The proposed model integrates the clustering …
Strategies For Playing Unshackle Games On Some Graphs, Thitiphut Leelathanakit
Strategies For Playing Unshackle Games On Some Graphs, Thitiphut Leelathanakit
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Unshackle game is a combinatorial game for two players that starts with prisoners and shackles on a board such that each shackle has two ends, and each end is shackled to one prisoner. Two players alternately play a turn by destroying a shackle on the board until all shackles have been destroyed. A prisoner is free when all shackles that are shackled to him are destroyed, and the player who makes the most prisoners free wins and the other loses. Both players draw if neither of them can win. The prisoners and the shackles on the board can be considered …

Heat Treatment Of Basaltic-Related Sapphire From Binh Thuan Deposit, Southern Vietnam, Yuparat Kwangsawat
Heat Treatment Of Basaltic-Related Sapphire From Binh Thuan Deposit, Southern Vietnam, Yuparat Kwangsawat
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Characteristics of basalt-related sapphires from Binh Thuan in Southern Vietnam were investigated before and after heat treatment. Samples were divided into four group, based on their color and hue including dark blue, blue, greenish blue, and bluish green. After being heated at 700-1000°C, sapphires' blue hue faded noticeably. Blue color turned to be intensified when heated at 1650°C. Subsequently, beryllium-assisted heating by a local professional gem treater was introduced to these sapphire samples which in turn yielded yellow to yellowish-blue hues. Color changes after heating are conclusively involved by trace compositions of sapphire and temperatures of heating. The appropriate treatment …

Functional Characterization Of Vago In Black Tiger Shrimp Penaeus Monodon Ikk-Nf-Κb Signaling Pathway Against Viral Infection, Zittipong Nanakorn
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Cytokines serve as key regulators in innate antiviral defense. In crustaceans, research on cytokine-mediated immunity remains limited. A previous study in Penaeus monodon has demonstrated that PmVago proteins exhibit cytokine-like function by acting through the inhibitor of kappa B kinase-nuclear factor κB (IKK-NF-κB) cascade to defend against white spot syndrome virus (WSSV). In this study, five PmVago isoforms were identified, each showing differential transcriptional responses to pathogen challenges. Among them, PmVago1 and PmVago4 exhibited strong antiviral responses against WSSV infection. RNA interference of PmVago1 and PmVago4 increased shrimp susceptibility to WSSV infection with enhanced viral replication. Their suppression also disrupted …

Immunoinformatics-Based Design And In Vitro Expression Analysis Of A Multi-Epitope Vaccine Against African Swine Fever Virus, Dhithya Venkateswaran
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
African swine fever (ASF) is a lethal haemorrhagic disease affecting domestic and wild pigs, causing severe economic losses globally. The absence of an effective vaccine has hindered ASF control, as traditional approaches are challenged by the virus’s genetic complexity and immune evasion mechanisms. In this study, we employed immunoinformatics to design a multi-epitope vaccine (MEV) against African Swine Fever Virus (ASFV), targeting conserved viral proteins—B646L (p72), CP204L (p30), E183L (p54), and EP402R (CD2v). Antigenic and non-allergenic BL and HL epitopes were selected and assembled with appropriate adjuvant and linkers to construct the MEV. No CTL epitopes were included, as they …

Canine Uterine Fibrosis Associated With Age And Pyometra, Maulida Selma Hanim
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
This study investigated whether aging and uterine pathology drive fibrosis in the canine uterus by quantifying collagen deposition in endometrial and myometrial compartments. Uterine samples from 55 small-sized, intact, nulliparous bitches were classified into five groups according to age and pathological conditions. Healthy group divided into juvenile, young adult, old adult, and the pathological group included cystic endometrial hyperplasia (CEH), and pyometra. Fibrosis was assessed using Masson’s trichrome staining; collagen proportion was quantified with ImageJ and analysed in SAS. Across healthy age groups, collagen proportions in the endometrial stroma, circular myometrium, and longitudinal myometrium did not differ significantly (P > 0.05). …
Diagnostic Approaches And Therapeutic Evaluation In Canine Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia: An Integrated Analysis Of Prostatic Volume, Serum Canine Prostatic Specific Esterase (Cpse) Levels, And Proteomic Profiles, Panthipa Borikappakul
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a highly prevalent condition in intact male dogs. However, its diagnosis and clinical management remain limited by the lack of clear thresholds for clinically significant prostatic enlargement, insufficient biomarkers to monitor treatment response, and an incomplete understanding of the molecular mechanisms driving disease progression. To address these gaps, this thesis integrated ultrasonographic, biochemical, and proteomic approaches across three complementary studies. First, the actual to expected normal prostatic volume ratio was evaluated to establish a clinically meaningful cutoff distinguishing subclinical from clinical BPH, providing an imaging-based indicator for early recognition of clinically relevant enlargement. Building on …

Induction of ovulation in pigs is a widely applied technique in commercial swine farms, using hormonal treatments to improve reproductive efficiency and productivity. The GnRH agonist buserelin acetate is widely used to induce ovulation and can be administered via intramuscular or intravaginal routes. However, the success of ovulation induction via the intravaginal route still depends on several factors, and information regarding the pharmacokinetics and tissue permeation of buserelin remains limited. This thesis aimed to investigate the pharmacokinetic profile, endometrial permeability, and reproductive effects of buserelin to develop an effective and practical ovulation control strategy for commercial swine production. This thesis …
