A pineapple peeling machine was completed, and the functionality was. The Central composite rotate strategy CCRD involving three variables at five (5) stages was employed for the investigations plus the investigational variables been weight, diameter and height of pineapple, while weights of peeled pineapple and peel, machine peeling time and efficiency were the dependent variables. Data was analysed using quadratic interaction regressions model at P ≤ 0.05 levels of significance, then the working variables were correlated to the pineapple machine peeling efficiency. The investigational outcomes were applied to confirm the predicted optimal settings. Maximal pineapple peeling efficacy of 91.89 % …

Globally, the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) has increased by nearly 16%. The imposition of taxes on sugary drinks is considered one of the strategic measures to control diseases associated with their consumption. This study aims to conduct a meta-analysis of the correlation between SSB taxation and health issues. The systematic review and meta-analysis were carried out following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and MetaAnalyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Literature from various countries published since January 1, 2014, was collected using databases such as Google Scholar, PubMed, and Science Direct. The meta-analysis process was performed using a funnel plot. A …

Correlation Between Drug-Related Problems And The Treatment Cost For Geriatric Ischemic Stroke Patients In Tulungagung, Dhanang Prawira Nugraha, Martanty Aditya
Jurnal Ekonomi Kesehatan Indonesia
Ischemic stroke was one of the diseases that frequently occurred in geriatric patients, while hemorrhagic stroke had a higher prevalence. Geriatric patients who experienced a stroke were not exempt from drug-related problems (DRP) due to the complexity of treatment and comorbid factors they encountered. This study aimed to determine the correlation between DRP and the cost of care for ischemic stroke patients, particularly in the geriatric population. The study design was cross-sectional, with data collected retrospectively, and the sample comprised 53 geriatric stroke patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. DRP was assessed using the PCNE 6.2 criteria, and …

Plant genotype is known to affect plant-invertebrate interactions. However, in megadiverse tropical habitats there has been relatively little exploration of the influence of the plant genotype on plant growth and biotic interactions in an experimental setting. We set-up three adjacent plots in rainforest at the foothills of the Andes (Orellana, Ecuador), where we planted clones of 37 individual Heliconia stricta rhizomes collected from up to 4 km away. Each rhizome was split into at least three individual pieces, resulting in three genetically identical replicates. At least one representative of each genotype was planted in each plot. Shoot height was measured …

Perilaku dan Promosi Kesehatan: Indonesian Journal of Health Promotion and Behavior
Background. In 2018, 48.9% of adolescent girls in Indonesia were diagnosed with anemia. Knowledge about the definition, symptoms, and prevention of anemia, including the correct use of Iron Supplement Tablets (IST), is essential in the prevention of anemia. A deeper understanding of these behaviors is necessary to formulate effective educational messages. The Health Belief Model (HBM) is often used to explore and understand preventive behaviors.
Aim. To explore the determinants and practices of IST consumption among adolescent girls.
Method. This descriptive qualitative study used a phenomenological approach. Participants were selected purposively from adolescent girls. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, …

Background. Primiparous mothers have a higher risk of experiencing difficulties in providing breast milk (ASI) due to lack of experience and preparation to become mothers. 90% of mothers in Indonesia have breastfed their children, but those who provide exclusively for 6 months are still low at 20%. One of the reasons for the failure of the success of providing exclusive breastfeeding is the low self-confidence or belief (Self Efficacy) of primiparous mothers in providing breast milk. Therefore, it is necessary to provide education about breastfeeding by implementing the emotional demonstration method developed by the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition …

Background: Body mass index (BMI) has a complex association with a variety of chronic pain conditions, which may be influenced by sleep apnea syndrome (SAS). However, the role of SAS within the causal pathway linking BMI to chronic pain remains unconfirmed. This study explored whether and to what extent SAS serves as a mediator between BMI and chronic pain using Bayesian-weighted Mendelian randomization (BWMR) techniques.
Methods: This study utilized genome-wide association study (GWAS) summary data for BMI (N=461,460) and SAS (N=476,853; based on ICD-10 code diagnostic registries) from the IEU OpenGWAS database, along with chronic pain GWAS data (ICD-10 code-based …

The Lived Mental Health Experiences Of African American/Black Mothers With An Infant In The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit During Covid-19, Dr. Shewonyui S. Lurker
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
African American/Black (AA/B) women are more likely than other women in the United States to give birth prematurely. Experiencing premature birth and infant hospitalization in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) during the COVID-19 pandemic may have negatively affected AA/B mothers’ mental health and led them to experience elevated rates of increased posttraumatic stress disorders, depression, anxiety, and postpartum depression. The purpose of this study was to understand the lived mental health experiences of AA/B mothers of infants in the NICU during COVID-19. Feminist theory provided a lens for understanding intersectionality in the experiences of AA/B mothers. Semistructured interviews were …

Haiti ranks among the lowest in healthcare quality in the Americas, according to the health indicators used by the World Health Organization. Despite national and international efforts to improve health service delivery, access to primary medical care and preventive services is limited, especially in rural areas. In response to a request from the Haitian government following the devastating Hurricane Georges, the arrival of the first Cuban doctors to support ongoing public health needs commenced in December 1998. Recognizing an opportunity for international cooperation, the Haitian president sought assistance from Cuba by signing a bilateral cooperation agreement for initial and ongoing …

Introduction. Although mortality among adult chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients on regular hemodialysis remains infrequent within the first three months, it is still a potential outcome. Given that hemodialysis is required for life, identifying risk factors for mortality is critical. This study aims to examine risk factors associated with mortality in adult CKD patients undergoing regular hemodialysis.
Methods. A case-control study, without matching, was conducted using medical record data from adult CKD patients (≥18 years) receiving regular hemodialysis between 2022 and 2024 at three hospitals (types A, B, and C) in Lampung Province. The case group consisted of …

Ungulate browsing represents a contemporary issue for forest development, influencing forest regeneration, composition, and management practices across the world, especially in North America. This review synthesizes findings from 101 studies conducted between 1980 and 2025 to examine patterns of herbivory damage through browsing by moose, elk, white-tailed deer, black-tailed deer, and bison. Despite regional variation, high ungulate density consistently emerges as the primary factor driving browsing intensity and ecological and economic impact, leading to decreased social acceptance of coexistence with ungulates. This review highlights the selective suppression of palatable species such as balsam fir, red oak, and white cedar, leading …
