Purpose: A food planner app helps users to create meal plans and recipes to their preferences, dietary requirements and lifestyle needs. Many food planner apps also could assist with grocery lists, calorie tracking, food waste management and reminders to users. But there is less adoption of such apps. Limited studies examine reasons for non-adaptability, emphasizing the need for more research. This research addresses this gap by observing the effect of pertinent factors such as expectant outcome and openness to change on the extended technology acceptance model. Design/methodology/approach: Drawing on theories and extant literature, a theoretical model was developed. The model …

Enhancing Brand Equity Through Branded Content Experience On Social Media: Developing And Testing A Moderated Mediation Model, Muhammad Waqas, Muhammad Adnan Waseem, Nauman Wajid, Irfan Irfan

Plymouth Business School

This study examined the relationship between branded content experience and brand equity by focusing on the mediating role of brand trust and the moderating role of consumer regret of interacting with branded content on social media. In testing the hypotheses proposed in this study, survey data were drawn from a sample of social media users and examined through structural equation modeling. The results indicate that branded content experience positively influences brand equity directly and indirectly via brand trust. In addition, moderated path analysis indicated that regret weakens the direct effect of branded content experience on brand trust and its indirect …

The fishing industry in Oman has gained momentum and is becoming a vital part of its economy. The role of technology has similarly evolved, especially with the inclusivity of Generative AI, which has drastically improved certainty and sustainability of this industry. The core of this development requires fishermen to use advanced technologies, such as predictive forecasting and logistics optimization. Several studies have enumerated the directed governmental efforts through policy formulation and fund allocation. However, there has beenlimited introspection on the perceived value orientation of such technology use at the individual level. This study examines this aspect through the value belief …

7-Ketocholesterol: Occurrence, Biological Activities, And Plausible Remediation, Shubhrima Ghosh Jan 2025

7-Ketocholesterol: Occurrence, Biological Activities, And Plausible Remediation, Shubhrima Ghosh

Research Outputs: 2025-Present

Oxysterols, or cholesterol oxidation products, are potentially harmful derivatives of cholesterol arising from heat treatment in food systems and enzymatic as well as non-enzymatic processes in the body. Of these, 7-ketocholesterol (7KC) is a major oxysterol implicated in age-related diseases such as atherosclerosis, macular degeneration, neurodegenerative disorders, cancers, and some inflammatory diseases. The cytotoxic pathways of 7KC often involve typical apoptotic markers such as the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), mitochondrial and peroxisomal dysfunction, followed by the release of cytochrome c, activation of caspase-9 followed by caspase-3, and other secondary messenger activations leading to cell death. The remedial approach …

Video Analytics And Fourth Amendment Vision, Andrew Guthrie Ferguson Jan 2025

Video Analytics And Fourth Amendment Vision, Andrew Guthrie Ferguson

Scholarly Articles in Law Reviews & Journals

What does the Fourth Amendment have to say about video analytics running on citywide camera systems? Video analytics (also known as computer vision) involves hardware and software in cameras that turns video surveillance streams into useful data, identifying, categorizing, matching, and alerting police about objects, people, and incidents. Video analytics can identify objects (e.g., hat, backpack, person, car) and track that person or thing back in time and through the streets using video surveillance footage. For police officers conducting virtual patrols or retrospective investigations, video analytics lets police scan thousands of linked cameras for suspicious behavior or a particular suspect, …

But For Borders: The Protection Gap For Internally Displaced Persons, Anita Sinha Jan 2025

But For Borders: The Protection Gap For Internally Displaced Persons, Anita Sinha

Scholarly Articles in Law Reviews & Journals

Internal displacement, encapsulating the phenomenon of people who are dislocated from their homes but remain within the border of their countries of origin, was once a forced migratory occurrence interchangeable with cross-border migration. This changed after the Second World War with the promulgation of the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees, which was premised on an insistence of making a legal line in the sand based on which side of a border displacement ultimately transpires. Internally displaced persons (IDPs)—in recent history, presently, and in the projected future—far outpace the number of people displaced outside the border of their …

Trademark Fair Use Is No Joke, Christine Farley Jan 2025

Trademark Fair Use Is No Joke, Christine Farley

Scholarly Articles in Law Reviews & Journals

This Article examines how the Supreme Court's 2023 decision in Jack Daniel's Properties v. VIP Products reveals the limitations of using parody as a framework for resolving tensions between trademark rights and free speech. While the Court's ruling narrowed trademark protection in certain instances and acknowledged the importance of protecting parodic speech, it ultimately avoided addressing fundamental questions about the relationship between trademark law and the First Amendment. The Article argues that courts' reliance on parody as a paradigmatic case of permissible trademark use has become a distraction that prevents necessary reform of trademark law to better accommodate First Amendment …

Poison! An Africana Legal Studies Investigation Into Enslaved Africans And Their Deadly Roots, Angi Porter Jan 2025

Poison! An Africana Legal Studies Investigation Into Enslaved Africans And Their Deadly Roots, Angi Porter

Scholarly Articles in Law Reviews & Journals

This article is a murder investigation.

And a strange one, as the victims might be the suspects, and the suspects might be the victims. Or, even stranger, who we are calling the victims might be the enforcers of an entirely different justice system we did not initially see.

This is a cold case: we are investigating African people enslaved in the Province of Maryland during the eighteenth century. It is really a collection of cases—all cases of poisoning. These enslaved Africans were poisoning their enslavers. The incidents are described in legal records and newspapers. But what do these poisonings really …

Trumpian Populism And The Changing Intellectual Landscape In Antitrust: Century-Old Resonances, The New Right And Possible End Of An Era., Jonathan B. Baker Jan 2025

Trumpian Populism And The Changing Intellectual Landscape In Antitrust: Century-Old Resonances, The New Right And Possible End Of An Era., Jonathan B. Baker

Scholarly Articles in Law Reviews & Journals

Three sides predominated in the U.S. antitrust policy debate during the Biden administration: neo-Brandeisians (or antimonopolists), centrist reformers (or post-Chicagoans), and conservatives (or Chicagoans). At that time, Trumpian populists did not comfortably fit with any of these groups and were at best secondary participants in policy discussions.

Nine months after the start of the second Trump administration, the intellectual landscape was different. Trumpian populism has now taken center stage at the antitrust enforcement agencies through two senior appointments-- Abigail (Gail) Slater as Assistant Attorney General for Antitrust in the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Mark Meador as a Federal Trade …

Digital Evidence: Facilitating What And For Whom?, Rebecca Hamilton, Adebayo Okeowo Jan 2025

Digital Evidence: Facilitating What And For Whom?, Rebecca Hamilton, Adebayo Okeowo

Scholarly Articles in Law Reviews & Journals

The emergence of user-generated evidence has revolutionized how atrocities and human rights violations are documented globally. Since 2011, when Syrian human rights defenders began documenting atrocities on their smartphones, a professional field has emerged around the collection, authentication, and preservation of digital evidence. However, this professionalization has created unintended consequences, as expertise and verification power shifted away from frontline communities to Global North institutions. This Article examines this tension through two case studies: the Rohingya Genocide Archive, and Nigeria's #EndSARS movement. These examples demonstrate both the power of locally-informed evidence collection and the challenges when verification skills remain concentrated among …

The Impact Of Circular Economy Practices On Sustainable Logistics Performance, Chao Ji-Hyland, David White, Ravshan Khaydarov Jan 2025

The Impact Of Circular Economy Practices On Sustainable Logistics Performance, Chao Ji-Hyland, David White, Ravshan Khaydarov

Research Outputs: 2025-Present

Despite increasing attention being paid to the circular economy practices (CEPs) that enable firms to improve sustainable logistics performance (SLP), the existing research lacks empirical evidence from larger surveys and the development of a framework that investigates the relationships between CEPs and SLP in logistics practices. This research aims to propose and measure a wider CEPs and SLP framework. This research employs a two-stage method to develop a model and utilise structural equation modelling of survey data from a sample of Irish logistics firms. The results indicate that reverse logistics and remanufacturing are the two key CEPs. The findings support …
