The Tendency To See Propensity: How Admitting Defendant-Authored Rap Lyrics As Evidence Of Motive Or Intent Can Look Like Inadmissible Character Evidence, Joseph Noreña Aug 2025

The Tendency To See Propensity: How Admitting Defendant-Authored Rap Lyrics As Evidence Of Motive Or Intent Can Look Like Inadmissible Character Evidence, Joseph Noreña

Denver Sports & Entertainment Law Journal

Defendant-authored rap lyrics admitted as evidence present unique evidentiary issues. In particular, when such lyrics are admitted to prove the motive or intent of the defendant-author, the lyrics can look like character evidence and be unduly prejudicial. Nevertheless, sometimes those lyrics valuably provide specific admissions of the defendant-author’s motive or intent. As a balance, this article argues that courts should be careful to admit defendant-authored rap lyrics where they are only generally related to a defendant’s motive or intent because of the prejudice a jury might have when seeing or hearing defendant-authored rap lyrics.

This study aimed to examine influence of gender and increasing grade of knee OA on lower-extremity function. Following Institutional Ethical Committee approval and signed-informed consent, 115 participants (57-males, 58-females), aged 40-65 years, with diagnosed knee OA (grade 1-4) were recruited. Fostering Inclusive Culinary Education: Transforming Kitchen Facilities At Sfa's School Of Human Sciences With Universal Design Principles In Education And Hospitality, Henry Wanakuta, Gina Fe Causin Ph.D., Kayleigh Orth

The RAISE Center Journal

The existing kitchen facilities at the School of Human Sciences at Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) are not equipped to support students with disabilities, presenting significant challenges to students with mobility, hearing, and visual impairments. Fixed-height counters, lack of tactile and auditory cues, and insufficient visual alerts restrict full participation, compromising the safety, independence, and learning outcomes of these students. These inadequacies underscore the urgent need for inclusive design to bridge the gap in equitable access to culinary education.

Grounded in principles of universal design and hospitality inclusivity, this study proposes a redesign of the kitchen facilities into three …

Screens And Symptoms: Exploring The Link Between Increased Screen Time And Poor Health Outcomes, Tiffany Burks, Jennifer Sturm

The RAISE Center Journal

Over the past two decades, there has been a substantial rise in ADHD diagnoses among both youth and adults. This phenomenon coincided with several significant developments related to technology, such as increased availability of devices, children receiving personal devices at younger ages, the development of social media outlets, wearable devices, and increased access to internet/Wi-Fi, leading researchers to speculate that ADHD symptomatology is linked to the amount of time a person spends on technology each day. This literature review sought to determine the impact of increased screen time, including ADHD symptomology. It is theorized that as screen time increases, ADHD …

Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series

The study investigates the extent of protection offered by Islamic law, as well as various international and criminal legislations, for human dignity in the face of medical research and experiments on …

Ibn-Jinnī’S Justifications For The Omissions In Sibaweh's Book, Sayel Al-Hawawsheh

Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series

This study aimed to reveal Ibn al-Jinnī's approach in defending Sibawayh against overlooking certain linguistic structures. Such omissions were pointed out by some grammarians, like Ibn al-Sarrāj, which led Ibn al-Jinnī to view them as a derogation of Sibawayh’s efforts in the book. He responded by trying to find reasons to counter those who attacked and undermined Sibawayh, according to his understanding. The reactions of grammarians, linguists, and lexicographers were often similar regarding many examples that Sibawayh overlooked, whether in approval or rejection, as this study will explain. The omissions identified by Ibn al-Jinnī were categorized according to their sources. …

The Colonial Discourse In E. M. Forster’S A Passage To India, Nouh Al-Guzo Aug 2025

The Colonial Discourse In E. M. Forster’S A Passage To India, Nouh Al-Guzo

Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series

This paper differs from the work of scholars who misinterpret E. M. Forster’s political novel A Passage to India as a story emphasizing the importance of cross-cultural friendship between English characters and Indians. While some overlook the fact that Forster employs this intimacy to justify English imperial practices in India, this paper argues otherwise. Throughout his novel, Forster does not imply that the British occupiers do not have the right to rule India or that Indians are equal to the British. On the contrary, he depicts Indians as an inferior race incapable of self-governance, thereby justifying the presence of English …

Notably, these interventions have often deviated from Security Council resolutions concerning the maintenance of international peace and security, despite the necessity of a strong connection to the Council's work. The study is divided into two main sections: the first examines the legitimacy of foreign …

Arbitrary Conditions According To Article 22 Of The New Jordanian Consumer Protection Law No. 7 Of 2017, Mohammad Al-Momani

Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series

A consumer contract is distinguished from other contracts by the unique characteristics of the parties involved. This distinction arises from their commitments, which are typically unequal: the provider or advertiser is often economically and technically stronger, while the consumer is weaker. Due to the inherent weaknesses in the general provisions of civil law, legislators have had to intervene to protect both the consumer and the provider, as well as to establish provisions that govern the relationship between the consumer and the provider or advertiser. These provisions aim to provide judicial, civil, and administrative protection for the consumer against arbitrary terms. …
