Overview Of Chromatographic Methods Of Analysis Of Penicillins In Food Matrices Of Animal Origin, Tarekegn Tadesse Unade, Gudeta Duga Geresu, Pawar A. Krishnamanjari

International Journal of Health and Allied Sciences

Penicillins are β-lactam antibiotics indicated for preventing and treating diseases in veterinary medical practice. Improper use of these antibiotics in animals may result in residues in foodstuffs such as milk, egg, and meat, which can cause unwanted effects like allergy, and development of bacterial resistance. So, it is important to regulate the use of penicillins in foodstuffs of animal origin. Regulatory bodies in different countries established maximum residue levels to be allowed in food matrices. To address the regulatory requirements, food matrices need to be investigated with proper methods of analysis. Several analytical methods were developed and validated to determine …

Nanomaterials To Transform Infection Control With Antimicrobial Solutions, Ravikumara Moodalakoppalu Yogarajachari, Charan Kumar Kachintaya, Lingaraju Honnuru Gurusiddappa, Gururaj Kudur Jayaprakash, Shankramma Kalikeri

International Journal of Health and Allied Sciences

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a major global health problem. The growing number of antibiotic-resistant microbes needs the development of novel antibiotics. Nanotechnology shows potential for overcoming bacterial resistance. Nanoparticles, particularly those around 100 nm, display higher antibacterial activity by using methods that differ from traditional antibiotics. When particle size reduces, materials such as zinc and silver improve their antibacterial action. There are several techniques to evaluate nanoparticle antibacterial activity, each having merits and downsides. This study critically evaluates selected literature, identifies bactericidal mechanisms, and discusses assessment procedures, emphasizing the importance of innovative approaches to bacterial infections.

Luminescence Dating And Its Application To Anthropogenic Sedimentary Sequences:Tepecik-Çiftlik Prehistoric Settlement, Eren Şahi̇ner, Mehmet Korhan Erturaç

Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences

Luminescence dating is a fundamental technique in the field of earth sciences research, offering a reliable method fordetermining the age of sediments and artifacts. Applications of luminescence dating in archaeology include the dating of ancienthabitation sites, burial mounds, and artifacts such as pottery. This provides a chronological framework for understanding humanactivities and environmental changes over millennia. The capacity of luminescence dating to ascertain the age of events spanning a fewdecades to several hundred thousand years renders it an indispensable instrument for the construction of timelines and interpretationof the past. This study presents a concise overview of the various stages of …

Wild Licorice (Glycyrrhiza Lepidota) Identification And Management In Pastures, Jacob Hadfield, Taun Beddes, Michael Caron, Corey Ransom

All Current Publications

Wild licorice, also known as American licorice, is a perennial legume native to North America, commonly found in the western United States. Wild licorice reproduces rapidly through seeds and rhizomes, leading to large infestations, particularly in pastures. The low preference of livestock for wild licorice results in overgrazing of other plant species, leaving them at a competitive disadvantage, further promoting the spread of wild licorice and contributing to pasture infestations. This fact sheet reviews the identification and management of wild licorice in pastures.

What Do Utahns Think About Global Warming And Climate Change?, Scott Hotaling, Kendall Becker, Lendel K. Narine, Jessica Ulrich-Schad, Roslynn Mccann, Peter D. Howe

All Current Publications

In Utah, there is widespread consensus that global warming is happening, and the strength of this consensus has been steadily rising since 2010. Over the last 14 years, some public opinion metrics have risen dramatically while others have been largely stable. The degree of climate impacts in Utah will depend on residents’ perceptions of climate change and support for implementing policies to help the state adapt to warmer temperatures, more extreme weather events, and other associated changes. In this fact sheet, we integrate multiple data sources to summarize the status and trends of Utahns’ opinions on climate change.

The Lycus Valley in Western Anatolia has been the site of numerous civilizations since ancient times due to historical, geopolitical, and climatological characteristics. Banded travertine is a ubiquitous architectural stone observed in ancient settlements in the Lycus Valley. Banded travertines referred to as “Alabastro Fiorito,” “Alabastro Listato,” and “Alabastro Rossa” in archaeological bibliographies have been extracted from the ancient quarries of Çukurbağ, Hierapolis, Develi-Akköy, Gölemezli, and Tripolis in the Lycus Valley and are characterized by white, yellow, brown, red, and red-burgundy colored bands with thicknesses ranging from a few millimeters to centimeters. The banded travertines have similar mineral compositions and …

The oral microbiota, second in abundance to the gut, is implicated in chronic systemic diseases, but its specific role in graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) pathogenesis has been unclear. Our study finds that mucositis-induced oral dysbiosis in patients after hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) associated with increased chronic GVHD (cGVHD), even in patients receiving posttransplant cyclophosphamide. In murine HCT models, oral dysbiosis caused by bilateral molar ligatures exacerbated cGVHD and increased bacterial load in the oral cavity and gut, with Enterococcaceae significantly increasing in both organs. In this model, the migration of Enterococcaceae to cervical lymph nodes both before and after transplantation activated …

BACKGROUND: Asymptomatic left ventricular systolic dysfunction (ALVSD) affects 7 million globally, leading to delayed diagnosis and treatment, high mortality, and substantial downstream health care costs. Current detection methods for ALVSD are inadequate, necessitating the development of improved diagnostic tools. Recently, electrocardiogram-based algorithms have shown promise in detecting ALVSD.

OBJECTIVES: The authors developed and validated a convolutional neural network (CNN) model using single-lead electrocardiogram and phonocardiogram inputs captured by a digital stethoscope to assess its utility in detecting individuals with actionably low ejection fractions (EF) in a large cohort of patients.

METHODS: 2,960 adults undergoing echocardiography from 4 U.S. health care …

Incorporation Of Xai And Deep Learning In Biomedical Imaging: A Review, Sushil K. Singh, Bal Virdee, Saurabh Aggarwal, Abhilash Maroju

Polytechnic Journal

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Deep Learning (DL) technologies have revolutionized disease detection, particularly in Medical Imaging (MI). While these technologies demonstrate outstanding performance in image classification, their integration into clinical practice remains gradual. A significant challenge lies in the opacity of Deep Neural Network (DNN) models, which provide predictions without explaining their structure. This lack of transparency poses severe issues in the healthcare industry, as trust in automated technologies is critical for doctors, patients, and other stakeholders. Concerns about liability in autonomous car accidents are comparable to those associated with deep learning applications in medical imaging. Errors such as false …
