Addressing Unprofessional Behaviors In The Clinical Learning Environment: Lessons From A Multi-Year Virtual, Intergenerational, Interdisciplinary Workshop, Jocelyn Greely, Yesenia Rojas-Khalil, Doris Kung, Anne Gill, Nadia Ismail, Nital Appelbaum

INTRODUCTION: Optimizing the clinical learning environment (CLE) is a medical education priority nationwide.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: We developed a virtual, one-hour workshop engaging students, housestaff and faculty in small-group discussions of five case scenarios adapted from reported unprofessional behaviors in the CLE, plus didactics regarding mistreatment, microaggressions and bystander interventions.

RESULTS: Over two sessions (2021-2022), we engaged 340 students and 73 faculty/housestaff facilitators. Post-session surveys showed significant improvement in participants' ability to recognize and respond to challenges in the CLE.

DISCUSSION: Our innovative workshop, including scenarios derived from institutional reports of unprofessional behaviors, advanced participants' knowledge and commitment to improve …

Approved Car-T Therapies Have Reproducible Efficacy And Safety In Clinical Practice, Jonathan Pan, Premal Lulla

CAR-T cell therapy has established itself as a highly effective treatment for hematological malignancies. There are currently six commercial CAR-T products that have been FDA approved for diseases such as B-ALL, LBCL, MCL, FL, MM, and CLL/SLL. "Real-world" studies allow us to evaluate outcomes from the general population to determine their efficacy and safety compared to those who were included in the original trials. Based on several well conducted "Real-world" studies that represent diverse populations, we report that outcomes from the original trials that led to the approval of these therapies are comparable to those in practice.

In a series of cases stretching over a century, the Court made a right’s roots a constitutive feature of its identity. Highlighting the analytic centrality of deep roots to the recognition of rights, Dobbs v. Regulation of autonomous vehicles continues to be a daunting task in the United States, and the federal government has not yet succeeded in creating a regulatory scheme that intelligently addresses the risks and benefits of these vehicles. There are multiple reasons for this regulatory lag. Autonomous vehicles are developing at such a rapid pace that lawmakers, who often struggle with technological literacy, struggle to keep up. Additionally, government agencies lack the level of expertise, experience, and data that the industry possesses.

On its path to sufficiently offsetting its major cut to the corporate income tax rate in 2017, Congress turned to a surprising source for funds: the alimony support payments of recently divorced families. Alimony’s inclusion/deduction regime in §§ 71 and 215 of the Code allowed divorcing couples to reach mutually beneficial divorce agreements for over half a century until it was unceremoniously repealed by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 with a striking lack of satisfying legislative justifications. This Article explores the future of intercollegiate athletics with a diminished (and perhaps even disappearing) amateurism model. Specifically, the Article argues that athletic conferences are in the best position to “save Camelot”—to preserve the aspects of college sports that make them beloved and distinctive—while at the same time realistically accounting for an evolving economic and legal landscape.

There is a prosecutor vacancy crisis in the United States. Prosecutors are quitting in droves and there are few applicants to replace them. In Houston and Los Angeles, more than 15% of prosecutor positions are open. In Detroit, the vacancy rate exceeds 20%. In Alameda, 25% of prosecutor positions are empty. And in Miami, a staggering 33% of prosecutor positions are unfilled. The situation is equally dire in many large and small counties across the nation.

Dynamic prediction models capable of retaining accuracy by evolving over time could play a significant role for monitoring disease progression in clinical practice. In biomedical studies with long-term follow up, participants are often monitored through periodic clinical visits with repeat measurements until an occurrence of the event of interest (e.g. disease onset) or the study end. Acknowledging the dynamic nature of disease risk and clinical information contained in the longitudinal markers, we propose an innovative concordance-assisted learning algorithm to derive a real-time risk stratification score. High-throughput proteomic platforms are crucial to identify novel Alzheimer’s disease (AD) biomarkers and pathways. In this study, we evaluated the reproducibility and reliability of aptamer-based (SomaScan® 7k) and antibody-based (Olink® Explore 3k) proteomic platforms in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples from the Ace Alzheimer Center Barcelona real-world cohort. Intra- and inter-platform reproducibility were evaluated through correlations between two independent SomaScan® assays analyzing the same samples, and between SomaScan® and Olink® results. Association analyses were performed between proteomic measures, CSF biological traits, sample demographics, and AD endophenotypes. Recent advancements in deep learning (DL) have revolutionized the capability of artificial intelligence (AI) by enabling the analysis of large-scale, complex datasets that are difficult for humans to interpret. However, large amounts of high-quality data are required to train such generative AI models successfully. With the rapid commercialization of single-cell sequencing and spatial transcriptomics platforms, the field is increasingly producing large-scale datasets such as histological images, single-cell molecular data, and spatial transcriptomic data. The Radical Oxidation Of Hydroxyacetone: An Insight Into The Reaction Mechanism And Potential Tetraoxide Intermediates, Edward Buck

This thesis presents the reaction of hydroxyacetone, a common volatile organic compound (VOC), with chlorine radicals in the presence of oxygen. Chapter one explores VOCs and their specific reactions and how tetraoxide intermediates could be formed from them. Chapter two analyses the experimental and computational methods used and the key theoretical concepts behind these methods. Experimental data was collected using multiplexed photoionization mass spectrometry at the Advanced Light Source Chemical Transformations Beamline, Lawrence Berkeley National laboratory. This data is combined with theoretical data using the CBS-QB3 composite method to determine the key reaction intermediates and mechanisms.

The study examined the results of the civic writing project “Letter to the Next President of the Philippines,” where grades 9-10 students were asked to write a letter to the next president about social problems that they wanted their future leader to resolve and why. The study analyzed the students’ letter topics according to their school type and location, gender, and the students’ sources of information for their civic writing. The letters (N=322) were written by students from urban and rural, and public and private schools across the country in March-May 2022 before the Philippine presidential election. The two main goals of this paper are to (a) examine how entrepreneurial self-efficacy (ESE) affects decision- making among nascent entrepreneurs and (b) examine the moderating role of entrepreneurial personality. A 2x2 between- subjects online randomized experiment was carried out. A sample of 48 Bangkok-based business school students who functioned as the study’s nascent entrepreneurs’ representatives was used to collect data for two sessions. Multiple linear regression was used to assess the research hypotheses. The findings show that extreme decision-making and nascent entrepreneurs’ ESE are positively correlated; an increase in ESE causes an increase in extreme decision-making. The effect of …

The increasing rate of cybervictimization has been documented in various countries, including Malaysia. However, there is a dearth of measurement tools with sound psychometric properties suitable for the Malaysian context. To address this methodological gap, the Malaysia Cybervictimization Scale for Adolescents (MyCVS-A) was developed based on qualitative inputs from adolescents in Malaysia. It was subsequently translated into Malay (MyCVS-A-M) and Chinese (MyCVS-A-C). Two studies were conducted to examine the psychometric properties of these two translated versions. Accurately forecasting gold price actions is critical in financial markets due to gold's role as a safe-haven asset. This paper addresses the challenge of forecasting gold prices by applying a Genetic Algorithm (GA) with a Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) model. The research exploits historical financial data from various instruments, including gold futures, Bitcoin, and key currency pairs, to improve prediction accuracy. By optimizing the MLP's hyper parameters through GA, the model efficiently captures complex relationships in high-frequency data, achieving a remarkable R² score of 0.9993. Inadequate management of chemotherapy-induced side effects, including nausea and vomiting, can impact the healing response of cancer patients. Ondansetron, a preferred medication for the treatment, is classified as a biopharmaceutic classification system (BCS) class II drug, which limits its bioavailability. To enhance its solubility, sodium starch glycolate (SSG) and pregelatinized starch (PG) are used as super disintegrants. In 2022, Indonesia experienced a public health crisis involving acute kidney failure in children, traced to paracetamol syrup contaminated with ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol. This underscores the urgent need for safer antipyretic alternatives. This study investigates the antipyretic potential of transdermal patches formulated with ethanol extract of water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) leaves sourced from Srandakan, Bantul, Yogyakarta. Extract concentrations of 0.8%, 1.0%, and 1.2% were tested, alongside a negative control (no extract) and a positive control (paracetamol). Abstract Diversity in the nursing profession does not match the demographic of patients in the United States and correcting this mismatch could positively impact health disparities in the country. This quality improvement (QI) project investigates the incidence and management of malnutrition in pediatric oncology patients at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (SJCRH) from October 2022 to September 2023. The study aims to quantify malnutrition diagnoses made by registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) and to identify patients at higher risk of severe malnutrition based on their primary cancer diagnosis and clinic location. A total of 161 patients were identified, resulting in 238 documented instances of malnutrition, classified as mild, moderate, or severe.
