Border Bones, a trombone duo formed in 2023, is committed to encouraging marginalized and underrepresented composers from Mexico and the United States. In its first project, Border Bones commissioned ten new works for the trombone repertoire. The focus and representation of this projected included Mexican, female, and LGBTQ+ composers. Once commissioned, Border Bones recorded these works through New Branch Records and released them as an album titled, Between Borders.

This research investigated the necessity of individualised training adaptations in dance, informed by physiological and psychological factors to nurture dancer physical and emotional wellbeing. Periodisation is a well known framework used, by professional athletes, as a way of dividing the training plan into smaller training cycles to develop skills and biomotor abilities to allow the athlete to perform optimally (physically, technically and mentally) and ensure peak performance at a specific time (Wyon & Allard, 2023). Background: Osteochondral lesions commonly occur in the knee joints and causes detrimental effects on the quality of life. Arthroscopic drilling is the treatment option for mild to moderate lesions. However, it is debatable whether regenerated cartilage from arthroscopic drilling surgery is durable. It is speculated that induction of chondrocyte differentiation from subchondral mesenchymal stem cells is facilitated by platelet-rich plasma (PRP), which is a rich source of diverse growth factors.

Aim of work: To evaluate the procedures of combined arthroscopic drilling and PRP injection intra-articularly for mild to moderate knee osteochondral lesions management.

Background: Surgery for Acute Ascending Aortic Dissection (AAAD) is often complicated by severe perioperative coagulopathy and critical bleeding. Mediastinal packing is a widely recognised technique used to manage and control this complication. This retrospective study aims to analyze early outcomes and potential risk factors for patients subjected to mediastinal packing after AAAD surgery.

Methods: 352 consecutive patients who had undergone acute ascending aortic dissection (AAAD) surgery were studied at the National Heart Institution between February 2014 and Mars 2023. This thesis examines the convergence of the fin-de-siècle revival of Greek antiquity and the denigration of women brought on by the patriarchal structures of the Second Empire and the Third Republic in five works composed by Camille Saint-Saëns between 1870 and 1910: Omphale, Phryné, Antigone, Hélène, and Déjanire. Its main purpose is to reveal the compositional strategies he devised in order to effectively give each of these title characters the musical upper hand over their male counterparts. The Feis Ceoil or ‘festival of music’ is a large-scale annual competitive music event. It has provided huge stimulus to all facets of Irish musical life in its almost 130-year lifespan. This study examines the first four decades of the festival which was inaugurated during the Gaelic Revival, a period of cultural nationalism that saw the development and celebration of Irish art, literature, language, and music. Recently, patient satisfaction has become one of the key performance indicators used to measure the performance of healthcare institutions and has emerged as a primary strategic indicator of quality and efficacy within the healthcare system. Inadequate care of patient experience in acute hospitals may negatively impact patients’ adherence, readmission rates and mortality. This dissertation critically evaluates over 2,000 peer-reviewed papers relevant to patient satisfaction within the emergency department (ED) environment. It describes the theories, tools, determinants, and methods to increase patient satisfaction. Founded in 1902, the Stonega Coke & Coal Company was the largest coal operator in Virginia throughout the twentieth century, becoming even larger through its merger with the Westmoreland Coal Company in 1964. Over the course of this long history, the company used a brand of welfare capitalism aimed at keeping miners and their families satisfied enough with their living and working conditions that the workers would develop a sense of loyalty to the company. Management at SC&C termed these practices “contentment sociology.” While many coal operators began shifting away from such practices during the New Deal, SC&C maintained and …

This dissertation is a contextual autoethnography of my lived experience with stigmatization, stereotypes, and institutional obstructions as a divorced single mother who previously experienced intimate partner violence and was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder. The purpose of the study is to shed light on the complexity of the single motherhood experience, both internally and externally. Current political divisions have had a chilling effect on these discussions inside and outside the classroom. Integrating human behavior into agent-based models has been challenging due to its diversity. An example is strategic coalition formation, which occurs when an individual decides to collaborate with others because it strategically benefits them, thereby increasing the expected utility of the situation. An algorithm called ABMSCORE was developed to help model strategic coalition formation in agent-based models. The ABMSCORE algorithm employs hedonic games from cooperative game theory and has been applied to various situations, including refugee egress and smallholder farming cooperatives. The practice of Telematic Music Performance (TMP), a subset of Network Music Performance (NMP), enables geographically remote musicians to engage in real-time musical interplay, typically occurring over a Wide Area Network (WAN: the Internet). However, the transmission of data between remote collaborators introduces millisecond latencies that obstruct the nuance of traditional human-to-human musical intercourse, and consequentially, the music generated by TMP often lacks rudimentary degrees of syncopation. The first half of the Article provides context for understanding the boundaries, animating concerns, and tensions that have characterised the anthropology of law as an area of interdisciplinary inquiry. We focus especially on the subdiscipline’s Anglo-American history and show how a promising early period of engagement dissipated as both anthropologists and legal scholars lost enthusiasm for each others’ insights and methods.
