Shalom And Communion Through The Practice Of Business, Andrew B. Gustafson Dec 2024

Shalom And Communion Through The Practice Of Business, Andrew B. Gustafson

Journal of Religion and Business Ethics

Although I am a Protestant Christian, this paper will approach the concept of Shalom from a perspective informed by Catholic Social Thought, and particularly, as an entrepreneur who participates in the Economy of Communion (EoC) movement. The aim of this paper is to seek to support the project of seeking Shalom through business practices by suggesting EoC as a model. I will here bring the principles of the Economy of Communion as a vision and a means to practice business in a way which leads to Shalom. To engage in current discussions on shalom, I will first provide a brief …

Exploring Antibiotic Resistance And Exopolysaccharide Production In Bacillus Paramycoides From Wastewater, Zainab Hassan, Nazia Jamil, Rida Batool Dec 2024

Exploring Antibiotic Resistance And Exopolysaccharide Production In Bacillus Paramycoides From Wastewater, Zainab Hassan, Nazia Jamil, Rida Batool

Journal of Bioresource Management

Antibiotics have been found extensively in the environment, particularly in groundwater, sediments, and surface water. The purpose of this study was to isolate and identify antibiotic-resistant bacteria from wastewater collected from sewage (Sher Shah Colony, Raiwind) and an industrial area (Hudiara Drain Gajju Matta) in Lahore. Ten bacterial strains (Z1, Z2, Z3, Z4, Z5, Z6, Z7, Z8, Z9, and Z10) were isolated from the samples. All of these strains were gram-positive. Antibiotic resistance profiling showed that strain Z1 was most resistant to ampicillin (1500 μg/ml) among all of the antibiotics (tetracycline, penicillin, erythromycin, and chloramphenicol) that were tested. A growth …

Economic Analysis And Profitability Of Honey Production And Marketing In Cross River State, Nigeria, Joseph A. Ugbe, Tee T.N., Ancha P.U

Journal of Bioresource Management

The significance of honey in the socio-economic livelihoods of rural and semi-urban populations is paramount, as it tackles issues such as unemployment, income, and ecosystem preservation. The decrease in the timber industry has caused numerous individuals who rely on forests for their income to be without jobs, making it difficult to find other ways to make a living. This study examines the economic analysis and profitability of honey production and marketing in Cross River State, Nigeria, over 5 years (2017-2021) for sustainable forest management. Six hundred and eighty-four (684) respondents were selected from three ecological zones in the state using …

The Empowerment Of Consumers With Disabilities: The Role Of Self-Esteem, Accessibility, And Access To Information, Megawati Simanjuntak, Fauzia Rahmi, Santi Utami Dewi Dec 2024

The Empowerment Of Consumers With Disabilities: The Role Of Self-Esteem, Accessibility, And Access To Information, Megawati Simanjuntak, Fauzia Rahmi, Santi Utami Dewi

ASEAN Marketing Journal

Consumer empowerment in Indonesia remains relatively low, particularly for individuals with disabilities. This study investigates the roles of accessibility, self-esteem, and information access in empowering disabled consumers. A total of 100 participants with physical disabilities, aged 17 and older, were surveyed regarding their online and offline purchasing experiences. Data were collected via an online questionnaire and analyzed using SEM PLS. Results indicate that self-esteem and information accessibility significantly influence the empowerment of consumers with disabilities, with the Disabled Consumer Empowerment Index categorized as "not empowered." Notably, the knowledge dimension received the lowest scores based on a traffic-light system. These findings …

Descriptions Of Adolescent Holistic Knowledge About Hiv/Aids At State Islamic Junior High School 2 Jember, Chilmiyatur Rosidah

Preventia: The Indonesian Journal of Public Health

HIV/AIDS is a global health issue, with the number of sufferers tending to increase each year. In 2015, there were 30,935 new HIV cases, and by 2020, this number had risen to 41,987 cases, indicating a 35.77 percent increase in new cases between 2015 and 2020. Adolescents constitute one of the groups vulnerable to HIV/AIDS due to a lack of holistic knowledge on the subject. Knowledge related to HIV/AIDS is crucial for adolescents, as the adolescent phase is characterized by an increase in hormone production, which may trigger risky sexual behavior. This study used a qualitative descriptive method with Focus …

Legal Provisions And Administration Of Land Disputes In Kiteto District, Ca. 1970s – 2000s: The Missing Linkage, Juma Marmo Dec 2024

Legal Provisions And Administration Of Land Disputes In Kiteto District, Ca. 1970s – 2000s: The Missing Linkage, Juma Marmo

Zamani: A Journal of African Historical Studies

There have been a series of legal interventions on land use in the post-colonial Tanzania to create a good land administration and management in order to end land use conflicts. Scholarship on the legal aspect of land use indicates that legal interventions did not provide lasting solutions to land use conflicts because of their structural and systemic arrangements. In addition, existing scholarship has little focus on the linkage between law enforcement machinery, the peoples’ level of understanding on land laws, and the occurrence of land use conflicts. This paper discusses the violation of laws by peasants, pastoralists, and government officials …

Molecular Mechanism Governing The Plasticity Of Use-Dependent Spike Broadening In Dorsal Root Ganglion Neurons, Tyler D. Alexander, Stephen Tymanskyj, Kyle J. Kennedy, Leonard K. Kaczmarek, Manuel Covarrubias Dec 2024

Molecular Mechanism Governing The Plasticity Of Use-Dependent Spike Broadening In Dorsal Root Ganglion Neurons, Tyler D. Alexander, Stephen Tymanskyj, Kyle J. Kennedy, Leonard K. Kaczmarek, Manuel Covarrubias

SKMC Student Presentations and Publications

Use-dependent spike broadening (UDSB) results from inactivation of the voltage-gated K+ (Kv) channels that regulate the repolarization of the action potential. However, the specific signaling and molecular processes that modulate UDSB have remained elusive. Here, we applied an adeno-associated viral vector approach and dynamic clamping to conclusively demonstrate how multisite phosphorylation of the N-terminal inactivation domain (NTID) of the Kv3.4 channel modulates UDSB in rat dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons. The Kv3.4 phosphonull variant promotes slow recovery from inactivation, cumulative inactivation, and UDSB. In contrast, the Kv3.4 phosphomimic variant promotes fast recovery from inactivation and robust resistance to cumulative inactivation …
