Policies To Reduce Greenhouse Gas (Ghg) Emissions And Environmental Effectiveness, Afrim Syla
Policies To Reduce Greenhouse Gas (Ghg) Emissions And Environmental Effectiveness, Afrim Syla
UBT International Conference
The concept of environmental effectiveness has many aspects. In or-der to be effective at mitigating GHG, the policy will need to reduce - rather than displace - emissions, as “leakage” of carbon or other GHG will have no global benefits . Policies may also need to address the broad picture, rather than focusing on optimizing the performance of individual sub-systems. Products used during construction and opera-tion of a building can contribute to Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) problems that affect occupants’ well-being. However, IAQ is conventionally not addressed in the life cycle assessments (LCAs) of buildings and build-ing related products even …

Traces And Criminal Trasology In Fighting Crime, Nuredin Lutfiu
Traces And Criminal Trasology In Fighting Crime, Nuredin Lutfiu
UBT International Conference
Criminalistic traceology is not only a part of criminalistic technique, but it is also incorporated in tactics and methods. For example, tactical, cognitive, evidential and processing problems of traceology are not the object of the study of criminalistic technique. It means the word is about the multidimensional approach to an issue. Traceology deals with the problems of the mechanisms of representation, classification, search, retrieval, fixation, preservation, search and evaluation of traces. Traceology enables the solution of identification and diagnostic tasks. Traceology is divided into the procedure of searching for traces, providing traces, fixing traces and using them for discovery and …

UBT International Conference
Tourism is one of the most important drivers of economic development in the world, and perhaps the only activity that connects nations and countries without prejudice. This is one of the main reasons that enables tourism to develop more and more quickly and is becoming an increasingly modern activity that people engage with. Proper positioning in the dynamic and competitive tourist market is conditioned by following modern trends through which demand movements, new market opportunities, potential investment areas and infrastructure needs are identified. Tourism as an activity promises a lot for the entire economy. Man is investing more and more …

The paper discusses the value of financial literacy and emphasises the importance of financial education inclusion into Kosovo's publicschool curriculum. The paper initially elaborates on the importance of financial literacy and then expands on its impact on people’s knowledge to become or maintain their financial stability and well-being. It is pointed out that understanding personal finance management can help people have a better connection with money and their finances. Research suggests that young people getting ready for adulthood should be encouraged to become financially literate to meet society's health and economic concerns. In this context, after observing the school curriculum …

The study analyzes the water quality of aqueducts in Drenas, Prishtina, Lipjan, and Shtime, Kosovo, in June and August 2024. The parameters assessed include physicochemical properties like color, turbidity, pH, free chlorine, chlorides, conductivity, and metal ions (Fe²⁺, Mn²⁺, Al), alongside biological indicators such as coliform bacteria. The results indicate that most parameters are within acceptable limits, reflecting overall good water quality. However, variations were noted: Prishtina's low chlorine levels may pose microbial risks, and the increased chlorides and conductivity in Lipjan suggest the impact of urban runoff or industrial activities. Seasonal shifts, especially during August, influenced the concentration of …

Albanian Viticulture View In The Context Of Climate Change, Petrit Zorba, Gazmir Cela
UBT International Conference
Climate change is a well-known issue in today's world, including within Albanian territories. This study aims to highlight the importance of proactive decision-making among farmers and policymakers through a detailed analysis using key viticulture zoning and variety distribution indices. By examining bioclimatic indices such as the Winkler and Huglin indices, alongside precipitation patterns during the coolest months, this study provides crucial insights into the spatial and temporal distribution of climatic conditions. The objective is to assess how these agroclimatic resources align with the bio-climatic requirements of grape cultivation. Current climate conditions now offer a broader potential area for viticulture compared …

Heavy metals are one of the main factors causing environmental pollution. They have toxic effects on plants and animals even in small concentrations. However, some metals act as cofactors in many enzymes in living systems. These metals are of great importance for enzymes to work actively. Metals such as zinc, iron, copper and magnesium play an important role for the activity of enzymes in the structure of plants. However, heavy metals inhibit or slow down the enzymes that play an active role in the organism of living organisms and prevent the functioning of the biochemical reactions they catalyze. Polyphenol oxidase …

In Kosovo, milk production represents one of the main economic activities from agriculture for thousands of households. Recently, a disturbing practice that is damaging the quality of this vital product has been observed, namely the adulteration of milk by adding water to it, a practice used by some unscrupulous producers. This irresponsible practice not only damages the milk industry and producers, but also has an effect in the reduction of milk quality, especially in the chemical parameters of protein, fat and in the physical parameters of its density. In addition, the presence of adulterated milk in the consumer market undermines …

Public Men's Rooms And The Legal Construction Of Gender And Privacy, Steven J. Macias
University of Cincinnati Law Review
This Article examines how the law is complicit in educating and socializing children into the cultural practices of gender and privacy. It accomplishes this by analyzing case law that involves minors and men’s public bathrooms. The men’s room is a place rife with social ambiguity, an ambiguity that has come to a head in recent transgender school bathroom cases. Although this Article is primarily concerned with the men’s bathroom as an important legal site in the development of gender and privacy for all youth, it discusses transgender (trans) rights cases as presenting the most fundamental challenge to the hegemonic logic …

Digital, Social Micro-Interventions To Promote Physical Activity Among Midlife Adults With Elevated Cardiovascular Risk: An Ambulatory Feasibility Study With Momentary Randomization., Danielle Arigo, Leah M Schumacher, Kiri Baga, Jacqueline A Mogle
Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine Departmental Research
BACKGROUND: Although regular physical activity (PA) mitigates the risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD) during midlife, existing PA interventions are minimally effective. Harnessing social influences in daily life shows promise: digital micro-interventions could effectively engage these influences on PA and require testing.
PURPOSE: This feasibility study employed ecological momentary assessment with embedded micro-randomization to activate two types of social influences (i.e., comparison, support; NCT04711512).
METHODS: Midlife adults (N = 30, MAge = 51, MBMI = 31.5 kg/m2, 43% racial/ethnic minority) with ≥1 CVD risk conditions completed four mobile surveys per day for 7 days while wearing PA monitors. After 3 days …

Abstract
The combined study of Ochodaeus montanus Fuente, 1912 (Coleoptera: Scarabaeoidea: Ochodaeidae) type material and recently collected specimens from the southeastern Iberian Peninsula provided evidence for the description of new specific morphological characters, and to clarify recurring mistakes present in the literature. A comparative study between O. montanus and its closest representative, O. inermis Reitter, 1892, was completed. An updated distribution map of O. montanus as well as a bilingual identification key for the four taxa occurring within the Iberian Peninsula is given.

Waking Up Before We Die: Aging And Spirituality, Marcelline Hutton
Zea E-Books Collection
In retirement, I have more time for prayer and reflection, to rest in the Lord, and hence to have my spirit renewed. We choose how we interpret our situations. Positive, spiritual aging ideas enhance our sense of well-being. Of course, the loss of loved ones decreases our sense of self-worth at times, but the Spirit can renew us. As Genesis reminds us, God was still working in the lives of Sarah and Abraham in old age, and they can serve as models for us. Indeed, Sarah laughed at the angels and shows us how humor exists even as we age. …

Statues In Plutarch's Lives, Donald Lateiner
New England Classical Journal
This article surveys where Plutarch mentions statues in the Lives and how they enrich his biographies. He alludes to statues in introductions, after death in conclusions, and in synkriseis. 1] They describe his subjects’ appearance. 2] They expressed community appreciation. 3] After some Hellenic and Roman honorands lost favor or were assassinated, their images suffered destruction. 4] Several communities compensated victims for ignominy by replacing their statues. 5] Several subjects erected statues as propaganda. 6] Several “heroes” address other men’s statues. 7] Statues or their absence counterpoint deaths and funerals. 8] Statues ironically embody excessive ambition. 9] Subsequent ancient …

An important subset of meningiomas behaves aggressively and is characterized by multiple recurrences. We identify clinical, genetic, and epigenetic predictors of multiply recurrent meningiomas (MRMs) and evaluate the evolution of these meningiomas in patient-matched samples. On multivariable binomial logistic regression, MRMs were significantly associated with male sex (P = 0.012), subtotal resection (P = 0.001), higher number of meningiomas on presentation (P = 0.017), and histopathological sheeting (P = 0.002). Multiomic analysis of primary meningiomas revealed that MRMs have greater copy number losses (P = 0.0313) and increased DNA methylation (P = 0.0155). In …
