Determinants Of The Returns To Sports Cards, Evidence From The Nba, George Langelett

Mountain Plains Business Conference

This is the first study to investigate the role of NBA player performance on the value of NBA rookie cards of Basketball athletes. Previous studies have found that a player’s race does not affect the price of one’s rookie card. This is the first study to investigate the impact of performance variables, including points per game, rebounds, assists, and steals significantly affect a player’s salary, as well as one’s race, signing a new contract, winning a championship, and appearing in the “all-star” game on the annual change in price of one’s rookie card during the same time period. Utilizing data …

The Value Of Cosma Outcomes: Student Learning Outcomes, Transferable Skills And Taxonomy Levels, Coral Bender, Lindsey Maxwell

The COSMA Journal

Using a content analysis of all published Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) of Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA) accredited programs, the current study analyzes SLOs to assess the most frequently used measurable verbs (utilizing a revised version of Blooms’ Taxonomy) and transferable skills (utilizing the definitions provided by AAC&U’s VALUE Outcomes and their corresponding rubrics) emphasized by accredited programs. An analysis of the most common Taxonomy Levels is presented at the aggregate level as well as a comparison between undergraduate and graduate education to provide a case study of SLO measurable verb alignment across accredited sport management programs. Further, content …

Optimizing Mlb Roster Selection With Moneyball Ai Scouting Agents: Using High Fidelity Synthetic Data To Optimize Team Performance, Parker Gibbons, Jon Chun

IPHS 391: Interdisciplinary AI Frontiers

This project utilizes artificial intelligence Agents to generate high-fidelity synthetic data for Major League Baseball hitters and their statistics over a single 162 game season. The AI evaluates each player based on a five-tool scale, comparing their abilities to one another. Finally, optimization techniques are applied to select an optimal set of thirteen hitters (half of a full MLB roster of twenty-six players), maximizing overall performance while adhering to a specified salary cap. The operating hypothesis is that artificial intelligence can effectively generate high-fidelity synthetic data for baseball hitters and evaluate player performance based on a five-tool scale, given a …

Perception Of Recreational Water Quality In The Scholarly Literature: Where Have We Been & Where Should We Go, Xavier Alberto Basurto Cendeno

Theses and Dissertations

This study explores existing literature and research themes between water quality and recreational participation through use of a bibliometric analysis with content analysis. It identifies key researchers, institutions, and themes that have shaped the field. Despite the growing body of research, gaps remain in understanding the state of the research on this important topic. By analyzing trends and how these trends have changed over time, this study aims to offer insights for future research agendas. Ultimately, the findings will inform strategies for improving water quality management and fostering more resilient, timely water-based recreational research.

High Fat, High Sucrose Diet Promotes Increased Expression Of Ace2 Receptor In The Siv-Infected Host: Implications For Sars-Cov-2 Infection, Elizabeth C. Delery, Danielle E. Levitt, Angela M. Amedee, Patricia E. Molina, Liz Simon

School of Graduate Studies Faculty Publications

Introduction: People with pre-existing conditions, including metabolic comorbidities, are at greater risk for complications of SARS-CoV-2 infection and expression of machinery required for viral entry into host cells may be a contributing factor. This study tested the hypothesis that high fat, high sucrose diet (HFSD) and alcohol use increase expression of angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor and transmembrane serine protease 2 (TMPRSS2) in tissues isolated from simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) infected macaques, the most clinically relevant model for the study of HIV. Methods: Biospecimens obtained from a longitudinal study of SIV-infected, antiretroviral therapy (ART)-treated female rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta) …

Findings highlight that male users are primarily driven by functional benefits such as accessibility and convenience, whereas female users are more responsive to hedonic benefits. Users with high self-efficacy prioritize economic benefits, whereas those with more usage experience prioritize functional benefits. Additionally, social risks significantly deter reuse intentions predominantly among male …

A Survey Of High School Athletic Directors And Implications For Sport Management Programs, Jon Coles Phd, Sally Ross Phd, Dana Munk Phd, Brian Roberts Ma

Findings in Sport, Hospitality, Entertainment, and Event Management

Many undergraduate sport management students are interested in a career in interscholastic athletics; some students complete degree required internships in school settings, where they receive receiving mentoring from athletic directors (ADs) and assistant athletic directors. To best prepare sport management students for these jobs, it is necessary to obtain clarity about requisite job skills for interscholastic ADs. In addition, examining the academic training and career paths of current ADs can help sport management educators advise students who wish to work in interscholastic athletic administration. As a field with a diverse array of career options, it is imperative to know how …

Integrated Merec-Cocoso Approach Using Score Function Ofneutrosophic For Location Selection Of Special Economic Zone, Debashis Ghosh, Bahnishikha Roy Muhuri, G. S. Mahapatra, B. S. Mahapatra

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

Special economic zones (SEZs) are essential if a developing country is to boost economic growth. The selection of an SEZ site might be viewed as a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) difficulty because of the many conflicting aspects connected to different locations. This work presents a flexible neutrosophic MCDM approach for optimal SEZ site search. The single-valued neutrosophic sets transform the qualitative evaluation of the criteria for SEZ alternatives into a quantitative evaluation. The method based on removal effect on criteria (MEREC) approach is improved in a neutrosophic environment to ascertain the relevance of every characteristic of SEZ alternatives. We suggested a …
