The Selection Of Preferred Textbook Based On The Dominance Method, Harliza Mohd Hanif, Daud Mohamad, Nor Hashimah Sulaiman, Siti Rahimah Batcha

Malaysian Journal of Computing (MJoC)

Calculus is a mathematics subject normally taught at the tertiary level. Many calculus textbooks with different approaches and styles have been published to cater to the needs of students. The selection of calculus textbooks is essential as it can help teachers and students to optimize their usage. Textbook selection problem is one type of multiple-criteria decisionmaking problem where the selection is based on several criteria. Thus, ranking fuzzy numbers based on the area dominance method ranks the calculus textbook.

An Approach To Multi-Attribute Decision-Making Based On Single-Valued Neutrosophic Hesitant Fuzzy Aczel-Alsina Aggregation Operator, Raiha Imran, Kifayat Ullah, Zeeshan Ali, Maria Akram Oct 2024

An Approach To Multi-Attribute Decision-Making Based On Single-Valued Neutrosophic Hesitant Fuzzy Aczel-Alsina Aggregation Operator, Raiha Imran, Kifayat Ullah, Zeeshan Ali, Maria Akram

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

A single-valued Neutrosophic hesitant fuzzy set (SVNHFS) is a combination of a single-valued neutrosophic set (SVNS) and hesitant fuzzy set (HFS) that has been developed to address insufficient, unreliable, and vague environments in which each element has several possible options determined by the truthiness, indeterminacy and falsity value. By considering this, in this paper, we have proposed the Aczel-Alsina aggregation operator (AAAO) for SVNHFS, which is more flexible t-norm and t-conorm than the other and due to the flexible nature of parameters to solve Multi-Attribute decision making (MADM) problems. Further, the score function, accuracy function, and certainty function of SVNHFS …

Evaluation Of Renewable Energy Sources For A Sustainable Future: A Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Approach, Mai Mohamed, Asmaa Elsayed Oct 2024

Evaluation Of Renewable Energy Sources For A Sustainable Future: A Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Approach, Mai Mohamed, Asmaa Elsayed

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

The urgent global challenges of climate change, energy security, and environmental degradation highlight the need for sustainable energy solutions. Renewable energy sources (RES) present a viable pathway towards sustainability by mitigating greenhouse gas emissions, reducing reliance on fossil fuels, and fostering economic resilience. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to propose an advanced Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) approach to evaluate various RES by integrating environmental, economic, technological, social acceptance, and resource availability criteria, to identify the most suitable RES for sustainable energy solutions. Methodology: The study employs a hybrid method combining Type-2 Neutrosophic Numbers (T2NN) with LOPCOW (Logarithmic Percentage Change …

What Is Beyond Measurement For Social Cohesion?, Qian Hui Tricia Tok, Orlando Woods, Lily Kong Oct 2024

What Is Beyond Measurement For Social Cohesion?, Qian Hui Tricia Tok, Orlando Woods, Lily Kong

Research Collection College of Integrative Studies

“What gets measured gets managed” has long been a mantra to rally improvement throughout various domains of life. Perhaps this is also the case for existing work on social cohesion, whereby much of its conceptual and operational elements have received interest in both academic and policy research aiming for practical improvement with regard to the cohesiveness of communities and societies. We contend, however, that not everything that matters for social cohesion may be measurable, and not everything that has been measured for social cohesion may matter. This is not to suggest that not measuring any indicators is better than measuring …

Diagnostic Overshadowing: A Delayed Diagnosis Of Autism Spectrum Disorder In A Deaf Child, Quynh-Chi Dang, Michael Hoffman, Rachel St. John

Journal of Early Hearing Detection and Intervention

Diagnostic overshadowing occurs when a patient with a pre-existing diagnosis presents with symptoms that are attributed to the diagnosis, but actually reflect a separate issue. This diagnostic overshadowing can lead to delays in diagnosis, as well as disparities in health care and outcomes. The following case will provide an example in which diagnostic overshadowing contributed to the delay of an autism diagnosis in a child who is deaf. With at least 40 to 50% of children who are deaf or hard of hearing having at least one co-existing medical/developmental condition, and the current prevalence of autism at 1 in 36 …

Losing Identity Or Regaining Confidence? A Collaborative Autoethnography On Teachers' Self-Efficacy, Geraldine Jiménez Grajales, Mariana Arias Torres, Keren Hapuc Guisao Bohórquez, Leslie J. Lopera

The Qualitative Report

This collaborative autoethnography analyzes the role of self-efficacy within our teacher identity crisis. As English teachers in training, we have experienced situations inside and outside the classroom that motivated a professional identity crisis and led us questioning our efficacy as teachers. Through this study we explore the intricacies of our very own selves as prospective English teachers. We blended storytelling and analysis through a set of data generation procedures that included collaborative witnessing, written personal narratives and semi-structured interviews, which allowed us to co-construct our stories. Our findings reveal three main themes that display the roles of self-efficacy within the …

Key Factors Of Corporate Expatriates' Cross-Cultural Adjustment – An Empirical Study, Allen D. Engle, Zsuzsanna Szeiner, Sylvia Molnár, József Poór

EKU Faculty and Staff Scholarship

This study investigates the difficulties that expatriates encounter while relocating to a foreign cultural environment. The examination of the issue is based on the results of primary research conducted among the Japanese community living and working in Hungary. Many circumstances make it difficult for an expat to feel at ease in the host country. Integration and thus the success of the posting are greatly hampered by overcoming cultural differences as well as linguistic challenges in a non-English speaking country. Language fluency issues are stated to trigger a series of practical, task-related barriers as well as broader social and emotional difficulties. …

Exploring Students’ Motivation In Mother Tongue Language Through Experiential Learning: A Systematic Review, Betsy Ng, Kimberly Hannah Siacor, Nur Shafizah Binte Johan

Journal of Research Initiatives

There has been a decrease in the motivation levels of primary school students towards learning their native language. In Singapore, the native language is also known as the Mother Tongue Language (MTL). There is also a need for more research on Experiential Learning in primary schools worldwide and MTL classrooms in Singapore. Using the basic psychological needs of Self-Determination Theory (SDT), namely autonomy, competence, and relatedness, this research explores the potential of experiential learning as an effective pedagogical tool to foster motivation and learning. Using specific study selection and systematic review methods, 11 empirical papers were selected to study the …

Women And Queer Researchers Cited, But Not In Sight: Rethinking Apa Citation Style, S.V. Chetan

Journal of International Women's Studies

In this article, I reflect on the APA citation practice of using last names and initials in references for psychological research. This practice reduces authors to their last names in the guise of gender-neutrality, thus making women and gender non-binary authors invisible despite being cited. Decades after Nancy Russo’s commentary recommending the use of first names along with last names, there have been no changes in APA style, while other citation styles have incorporated the practice of using first names and last names in references to address this issue. In the changing global socio-cultural landscape that acknowledges gender fluidity, including …
