The Impact Of Prophet Ibrahim’S Supplications In The Qur’An On The Flourishing Of Islamic Pilgrimage, Tariq H. M. Elhadary, Razaq Raj
International Journal of Religious Tourism and Pilgrimage
The supplications of Prophet Ibrahim (pbuh) in the Qur’an have had a significant impact on the flourishing of Islamic Pilgrimage and have also provided spiritual guidance for those who visit these sacred sites. Through his supplications, Prophet Ibrahim (pbuh) expressed his love for the sacred places associated with the Islamic faith. His prayers for both the visitors and residents of these places, are believed to invoke divine blessings and protection upon them. Prophet Ibrahim’s supplications in the Qur’an also encouraged Muslim pilgrims (often referred to as religious tourists) to visit these holy sites by reminding them of the great rewards …

To Read Or Not To Read: How Book Censorship Affects Students And Undermines Different Worldviews, Jordyn L. Bailey
Honors Theses
The past five years have seen an unprecedented growth in book challenges across the nation. The American Library Association announced in March 2024 that 2023 saw a ninety-two percent increase in challenged titles, making it a record year for book bans and challenges (American Library Association 2024). States are seeing increased government inference into these issues. Namely, Florida remains a leader in book challenges with over forty percent of all book bans in the 2022-2023 school year (Meehan 2023). This project examines the effect of book challenges and bans on adolescent readers, with an emphasis on how frequently challenged books, …

In low- and lower-middle-income countries (LLMICs), delivering equitable kidney care presents substantial challenges, resulting in significant disparities in disease management and treatment outcomes for people with kidney failure. This comprehensive report leveraged data from the International Society of Nephrology-Global Kidney Health Atlas (ISN-GKHA), to provide a detailed update on the landscape of kidney replacement therapy (KRT) in LLMICs. Among the 65 participating LLMICs, reimbursement for KRT (publicly funded by the government and free at the point of delivery) was available in 28%, 15%, and 8% for hemodialysis (HD), peritoneal dialysis (PD), and kidney transplantation (KT), respectively. Additionally, while 56% and …

Perceptions Of Parents And Guardians Regarding Home-To-School Involvement, Brie Merritt
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
The problem that was addressed through this study was the decline in home-to-school partnerships within a local, public, and ethnically diverse middle school (DMS) in the Southeastern United States. The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore parents’ perspectives on the decline in home-to-school partnerships at a DMS. Using Epstein’s six types of family involvement as a guide, a qualitative, exploratory design was used, with data collected through semi structured interviews with 12 Black mothers of eighth-grade students from DMS in the 2022–2023 school year. Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis revealed the following four themes: communication satisfaction, parent-school engagement, …
The Lost History Of Judicial Restraint, Derek A. Webb
The Lost History Of Judicial Restraint, Derek A. Webb
Notre Dame Law Review
For over 125 years, jurists and scholars who have championed judicial restraint have looked back to James Bradley Thayer’s 1893 Harvard Law Review article, The Origin and Scope of the American Doctrine of Constitutional Law, as the seminal authority for the rule that courts should presume the constitutionality of a challenged law and only invalidate it if its unconstitutionality is “clear” and “beyond a reasonable doubt.” But Thayer presented those three rules (presumption of constitutionality, clear error rule, and reasonable doubt standard) as rooted in historical legal practice in America. And yet none of his twentieth or twenty-first century …
Roving Extraterritoriality: The Murky Doctrine On State Laws Regulating Absent Citizens, Leo Schlueter
Roving Extraterritoriality: The Murky Doctrine On State Laws Regulating Absent Citizens, Leo Schlueter
Notre Dame Law Review
It is generally agreed that sovereigns have the power to punish the crimes of their citizens abroad, at least in some situations. But sovereigns rarely exercise this power, and its contours are not well understood. This is especially true in the context of American federalism. It is unclear to what degree states have retained their sovereign extraterritorial powers, and the Supreme Court has never had occasion to fully explain their limits. Recent political developments, however, make it plausible that the question will soon arise. This Note attempts to provide some insight into the future debate over state criminal extraterritorial jurisdiction …

Background
Nursing schools in low-income countries face challenges to effectively educate and retain future nurses in rural settings where healthcare needs are more prominent. It is important to understand the experiences of nursing students in rural settings to better prepare them to meet the complex needs of the community. Little is known about nursing students' experiences in rural Uganda. The purpose of this paper is to explore nursing students' experiences of attending school in a rural setting in Uganda. Methods
A qualitative descriptive design was used to conduct this study. Twelve nursing students from a nursing school in rural Uganda …The Echo: December 2, 2024, Taylor University

Kimmel Cancer Center Faculty Papers
BACKGROUND: Delays in breast cancer diagnosis and treatment lead to worse survival and quality of life. Racial disparities in care timeliness have been reported, but few studies have examined access at multiple points along the care continuum (diagnosis, treatment initiation, treatment duration, and genomic testing).
METHODS AND FINDINGS: The Carolina Breast Cancer Study (CBCS) Phase 3 is a population-based, case-only cohort (n = 2,998, 50% black) of patients with invasive breast cancer diagnoses (2008 to 2013). We used latent class analysis (LCA) to group participants based on patterns of factors within 3 separate domains: socioeconomic status ("SES"), "care barriers," and …

A 78-year-old female with a remote history of L3-4 decompression and fusion presented with several months of low back and radicular leg pain. MRI revealed moderate L2-L3 spinal canal stenosis, ligamentum flavum infolding, moderate bilateral foraminal stenosis, and a grade I retrolisthesis. A right sided L2-L3 TFESI was performed using multiplanar fluoroscopic imaging with a subpedicular supraneural approach. During live iodinated contrast injection, imaging revealed concomitant epidural and central arterial contrast spread. The needle was retracted and repeat live fluoroscopic imaging demonstrated no vascular uptake. Desired epidural and nerve root contrast spread remained in place with repeat still imaging. Dexamethasone …

A Response To Openai's Student Guide To Writing With Chatgpt, David Nelson
A Response To Openai's Student Guide To Writing With Chatgpt, David Nelson
IMPACT Publications
ChatGPT turned two years old and it’s not an anniversary many of us in education want to celebrate. ChatGPT has over 250 million weekly users, many of them students. OpenAI’s indifference to releasing an app that students used to offload learning is astonishing, but not unsurprising, considering Sam Altman’s thoughts about the state of higher education months before the public release of ChatGPT:
For the past two years, OpenAI’s grand public experiment included no guidance for educators. Early in November they finally released a student’s guide to writing with ChatGPT. The guest post below from Dave Nelson offers one …
Automatic Placenta Mri Segmentation Across Gestational Stages Using Nnunet, Wenqing Zhang
Automatic Placenta Mri Segmentation Across Gestational Stages Using Nnunet, Wenqing Zhang
Electrical and Systems Engineering Undergraduate Student Research
The placenta is a critical organ connecting the mother and fetus, playing a vital role in fetal development and maternal health. However, research on placental MRI segmentation, particularly across different gestational stages, remains limited. This study systematically explores the performance of nnUNet in automatic placental MRI segmentation, focusing on three gestational stages: early (0–19 weeks), mid (20–30 weeks), and late (31–40 weeks). Comprehensive experiments, including single-stage, mixed-stage, and cross-stage segmentation tasks, were conducted.
The results demonstrate nnUNet’s remarkable adaptability, achieving validation Dice coefficients exceeding 82% in single-stage training. The mid-stage placenta, due to its transitional characteristics, excelled in cross-stage predictions, …
Textualism In Practice, Anita S. Krishnakumar
Textualism In Practice, Anita S. Krishnakumar
Duke Law Journal
Textualism has won the statutory interpretation wars. But despite this theoretical and methodological victory, textualism as practiced on the ground has proved less transformational than expected. Indeed, contrary to what textualist interpretive philosophy long has promised, the widespread embrace of textualism by judges on the ground has not resulted in any real clarity or predictability about the interpretive path—or even the specific interpretive tools—courts will invoke to construe a statute in a particular case. Part of the reason for this lack of predictability is that textualism as practiced often differs significantly from the approach that textualism as an interpretive philosophy …
